Bought the latest albums of Sylosis, Dying Fetus, Nile, Nachtmystium, and Katatonia recently. All of them are really good.

yeah metal is great! Just been watching Metal Evolution on Sky Arts (Friday at 9pm) here in UK which is really interesting (and worth catching if you're a metal fan).

I played drums in Thrash, Death and Black Metal bands in the 90s which was great a experience!

I tend to go for heavier stuff still and am not really that impressed with a lot of the music I hear on Kerrang or Scuzz

My favs:

Hypocrisy - "The Final Chapter" and "Adjusting the Sun" are good tracks to start with if you don't know them.
Mayhem - De Mysteriis
Old Mans Child

etc etc

Sign of the Horns to all metallers out there!

With any success, Paul?

I followed the underground/demo scene quite a bit from 1992-96 or so, maybe even heard one of your bands..

My username might enlighten you to my favourite Black Metal album, favourite Metal album overall might have to be Reign In Blood though..

Love metal.
I guess Im a "90s" kids, when white zombie, pantera and slayer were hitting high.
But I also like other type of music.

Metal is simply amazing. Give me some Eluveitie, Evergrey, Amon Amarth, Turisas, Sonata Arctica, Behemoth, or Korpiklaani any day. I'm of the mind that metal has so many sub-genres, it is possible to find at least one metal band for every person, even if they don't like the majority of the genre.

I'm a huge metal fan and I've have to agree with what @Torsvalkyrie25 said in that metal has so many sub-genres that it's entirely possible to find at least one metal band for every person. I'm a firm believer in that and I even tell people I know who aren't into metal that very thing.

That really sucks that Rob left Anthrax right as they're gearing up for the Metal Alliance Tour. Anthrax will be playing "Among The Living" in it's entirety for this tour which will be a real treat. I'm really going to try and go if all possible. It's always a good time seeing Anthrax live!

I saw them do the entire Among the Living a good few years ago when Danny reunited with the band...was a fun show

I have never seen Exodus live which is another of the bands touring with them...although they are also touring with Testament next month and can catch them then :)

You will have a good time at Exodus! I fractured my heel a few years back doing a flip off the front of the stage and into the pit! I landed it! And got a song dedicated to my craziness!!!

I'd really love to go to that Metal Alliance Tour with Anthrax, Exodus and Holy Grail but I'm already committed to seeing Coheed and Cambria, Between The Buried And Me, and Russian Circles a few weeks before the date for this tour. This is more reasons why I need to be a rich guy so I can go to every awesome show that comes up.

Nothing better than some old school thrash and death metal.
Stuff like Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Dark Angel, Megadeth, Carcass, Death,
I play guitar and sing in a thrash band as well.

I do regard the wave of Black Metal from Norway in the 90's to be the most appealing genre that has hit us. Perhaps because I grew up during that period of strange phenomena I do have a romantic attachment to it but I thinks acts like Burzum, DarkThrone, Ulver, Mayhem, Satyricon and Enslaved to cite a few had an incredible spiritual energy that I cannot find in modern metal. Apart from the most underground bands and experimental ones, the headbanging wasn't part of the black metal philosophy of yore, now it's just rock 'n' roll.
