Bad spellingPage 5 of 6    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
I accept some typo's, bad spelling, poor grammer etc but if a profile is littered with them I find it off putting. When I am in chat with someone and typing quickly then I make mistakes, I also get very lazy about using capitals. I don't like text talk either.

I don't think I would ever go as far as to reprimand a total stranger on the way they type. It's none of my business.

God forbid if any one decided to alter your cutlery drawer.:)

My view is, `yes` to basic writing skills, but to undermine a "communication" with little thought. Perhaps you could be a super god fairy of POF grammer.

OP: Really! I don't mean to offend or be rude, however I just read your profile. I found twenty typos and a number of basic grammatical errors. What's that expression regarding stones and glass houses?

"vvv........It's a valid point, but where does that leave those that choose to have no visible pictures?
mmmm......"

somewhere worthy of admiration?
which is more than i can say for ad hominum attacks, but then what other defence could anyone have?
so many claim to like honesty/truth...until they're are confronted with it.

highlighting the flaws of others is a great way to showcase your own flaws dont you think:-)

I'm of the opinion that the OP is just having a bit of banter and fun
and wouldn't really msg other members about spelling mistakes on their profiles!

Op, I have just read through your own profile. One paragraph, I have auto-corrected it for you.

"I’m quite an intelligent woman (yes, I can string more than 2 sentences together!), but laptops, mobiles and sat-navs cause me a few problems. Although I can be quite shy at first, it doesn’t take long for my friendly personality to take over and then I find conversation quite easy. I do miss the connection, friendship and communication that comes with a relationship. I want to talk and not just via a computer screen."

Oerrr.. might be flamed for this!

Seriously tho, Im pulling your leg a little here, light hearted banter.

x

PS.. On the up side, you are a very pretty girl. :)

call me suspicious, but i cant help wondering if the op got a message pointing out the errors in her profile, so she started this thread, and sent the link in reply?
if not, then hats off to the op for taking the flack so well:-)

I always get a bit put off if a guy says he wants to 'meat' me !

Lol best-foot-forward, this is one of them 'unintentionally funny' cases of poor spelling! :-)

I would like to point out to the OP this is a dating site if you are contacting men on here just to tell them they cant cant spell then you are a time waster.

My daughter had a message on here, some time ago now, saying 'hi sweaty'. We think he meant 'sweety' . She didn't reply.

Haha, this just shows how one misplaced vowel can change the whole meaning, and effect, of the greeting.

Bad spelling and grammar puts me off – not if it's just a typo (everyone does that) but if it looks like she doesn't know how to write English then it's unlikely we're going to be able to have interesting discussions.

And it's just lazy to make a mess of your sales pitch. If you can't be bothered even to put together a coherent profile, I'm going to assume your heart isn't in this site and you're not a serious prospect.

i met one girl that once we sat down to coffee said "look i just have to ask, what are you really looking for?"
i replied i'm looking for someone that will complement me!
she looked down at her coffee, looked up n said "you have nice eyes!"
some things get lost in the translation :-)

Bad spellers often go on to become killers...I think that's what msg 102 was pointing out. Haven't done any research on it....but you'll probably find most of them can't spell.

Have just seen a headline 'Fistey girl seeks fistey guy'...conjures up some uncomfortable images, am sure she means feisty??
