Would it bother you if a woman had a male personal trainer?Page 2 of 8    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
Dead right peppermint...

Personal trainers look better than the average jo because its their WORK. They are in a job where they have to keep fit or lose credibillity. As regards fitness trainers just doing the job to get laid and not having any more coaching skills than the next person ?? Oh Pleaseeeee hahhahaha those who say that have no idea what they are talking about and should check out the degree syllabus and the core studies that make up a degree in sports science.

To say that every fitness instructor is a sexual predetor is insulting and comes from the mouths of insecure people. Shelby was right - People will sometimes use a fitness instructor because they find they are more motivated by one to one coaching? I actually said that along with another reason being scheduling. Is there a problem there?

Lets assume the guy decides he has no problem because the instructor is a woman...What if unknown to you the instructor was a lesbian? What if your girlfriend was Bi and just hadnt told you?

What if your girlfriend wanted to take driving lessons and the best instructor for her was a male ? Do you assume that the instructor is going to be hitting on your girlfriend. What if she wanted to take up golf and liked the idea of some one to one instruction for a few hours?

Your pretty girlfriend can be hit on by guys when you are not around in any number of situations. I am sure women will back me up with examples of when guys have made passes - It can happen in any situation when there are guys around. Its how you deal with it that shows what kind of person you are.

I just love the double standards here - If a guy signed up at the gym for some one to one coaching (And there are benefits to that) and the instructor allocated to them turned out to be a drop dead gorgeous girl - Would the guy demand a male instructor because he feels that his girlfriend would object - Would he want to bed the instructor and do so given the opporunity?

As Peppermint said "Most men are grateful that women take the time to work out and care about their bodies.

Keep your trainer, lose the jealous types."

These are the guys who panic if you speak to another bloke, who want to know why your phone was engaged when they called you, who demand to know every contact on your phone and on your facebook account. These are the guys who assume that because there are a few guys who work in your office you get along with you must fancy them all.

Shelby the consensus you claim that supports your arguement comes from insecure guys - Most of the women are quite rightly offended that you assume they do not have a choice when it comes to dealing with any possible bloke who might hit on them.

Its also an insult to the many sports proffessionals who see their work for what it is and nothing more. They do not cross the boundary. Of course there may be some harmless flirtation sometimes but then I do that every day as do many people in a sales/customer service/ people role - Its harmless, means nothing as is just part and parcel of the work.

Deal with your insecurity guys stop laying it at the woman's door.....

Zactly! I'd be tickled plum to death to find a woman that was willing to hit the gym on a regular basis. I don't care if her PT is a regular Adonis.

I wouldn't waste my time on anyone that is that insecure/jealous. Keep doing what you;re doing - and keep looking!

I have a male personal trainer that I work out with 3x a week. I'm at the gym to tone up and shape my body, not to hook up with my trainer. Several guys I have met lately have a problem with this. I feel they're over reacting or are just plain possessive.

I don't think they're being possessive - they're being INSECURE and PARANOID.

I'm not going to stop seeing my trainer because he is giving me amazing results.

Good for you and I agree - you look fantastic !

Am I wrong to think asking me to stop seeing a male trainer is ridiculous?

No, I don't think you're wrong.

Would you be ok with your girlfriend working out with another guy on a professional level?

If she was already working out with a male personal trainer when I met her I would have to assume she wasn't interested in him or why would she bother dating me ?
If she was my gf and she decided she wanted to get in better shape then I would train her myself.

These are guys she's just meeting none of them are her boyfriend sheesh.

The implication is that if they were to get into relationship she would not be able to resist her personal trainer
And this is w/o even knowing her
Are all men this insecure or is just the ones on POF

Agreed with Shogun_1504:
Is this being waved in the face of these men like a red cape in front of a bull? Just say "I go to the gym and workout on a regular basis." Your routines and whom you work out with isn't anyone's business unless you make it their business, especially early on in getting to know someone.

If there is no trust, there is no relationship.

If we were dating....
and a woman isn't obsessed on her trainer when out with me...
I'd be fine with that.

As I'm not the jealous type.
But don't give me a reason.

As a male, who has a few jealous tendancies:

If you're not my gf; I dont care. How does anything that you do or not do affect me?

Do what you want.

If I was your bf: I wouldn't ask you to change your trainer, but probably, would wonder why a woman trainer wouldnt be more fitting; as you are female, and your bodies are a bit more similar? Further; I would freak out if your training periods went for two to three-four hours per night.

I'd probably be doing weekly audits (now n then); unless you found a way to give me assurances. After the assurances; I'd probably be ok.

I know; that's probably a problem on my end, and not fair, but also probably the way it would be.

If you banned me from joining said gym, or coming to a place where you and the trainer would be at the same time (other than the gym) it would be over instantly.

I know my weaknesses, and not being able to justify to myself that I am over reacting about cheating is something that kills me inside. Hell; cheat on me while you're at work, (during working hours) and we'll be ok. Once there is any hole in logic, where "you cheating" is an obvious, or even probable, conclusion; and it just gets bad.

Since I have a gym membership and want to get my money's worth I hang out at the gym against my will on a regular basis. Kind of like a guy at a buffet that is determined to get $45 dollars worth of food in his stomach to justify spending the $12 entrance fee to food heaven

Lol; that's hilarious.

Agreed; do that.

No need to raise the stakes right.

Whats next? If she is referred to a male specialist for ob/gyn issues...is she supposed to deny that and only see a female? What if the best in her area is actually a male? She cant go? A male hair stylist, a male dentist etc?

It is a business relationship. She is paying him for his services.

I guess some people cannot imagine working with people and not getting (lady)boners...but it is possible!

I sense something out of place ,...... why wouldn't you want both ..?
I'm sure there are very good female trainers , who could give you the same results and not
interfere with your dating and relationships ...? the best of both situations

but , your giving up/limiting one for the other ? why would you do that ?

BTW .. If I had just 10 dollars for every woman who has had sex with their personal trainer , I could buy NYC

Just popping in real quick before I see my trainer :p
Many have asked why I even bring it up-
Since I see him 3x a week, often first meets are suggested during my training times which I usually say, "I see my trainer at that time but I can do such and such time. " They'll either say ok or ask about the trainer. I suppose I could say I have an appointment, but it's going to come up at some point. When they ask if its a guy and I say yes, that's when they say "oh I don't like that!" Or "that makes me uncomfortable". A few have said if it gets serious between us I'll need to get a new trainer. Um, no. These are guys I haven't even met. One guy that I went out with a few times stopped talking to me because of it - but he also didn't like that I went out with my friends once a week for A drink.

Hey just do what the hell I do.

Hire a PI. Plant hidden cameras inside the gym. Sit outside the gym parking lot the whole time she's with the trainer. Hire a inside female to work out with your girl and trainer so she can give you all the details so you'll know if she's a PT hoe or not. And after all this fine re con work make sure to show up unannounced every once in a while, and you'll want to follow and find out where the PT live. And once you find out that she's only getting fit and losing weight after your great award winning stalking...you should still leave her azz because you have now became a neurotic nutt and it's all her fault for working out with a PT. Hey...it worked for me. Don't judge me!

Disclaimer: You can go to jail for a long time for this soooo.....YOU AIN'T HURD IT FROM ME! :)

I hate PT's. Big stupid muscle head guys stealing all our women. They look dumb with all those muscles. smh

You do realize there are some PT's who are actually out of shape themselves right? And they actually have customers (im still trying to figure that one out myself), i see them all the time. I guess gyms can't discriminate.

@hepmeahh Yes, I pay someone to compliment me/boost my ego. Please.
I admit it, I lack the motivation to do the really tough workouts he has me do. Yes, I can do cardio and weights on my own - but that's not nearly as brutal as the things he has me do.
I had a female personal trainer who left the gym. This guy was my best option considering my goals. I did not even take into consideration that he was a male when I chose - I chose who was the best fit for me.

What is the problem, exactly? Are guys afraid I'm going to screw my trainer? If it was going to happen, it would have happend already. (But I am not physically attracted to him in the least bit!) He doesn't touch me, we don't hang out outside of the gym. I wear a baggy t-shirt and no make-up with my hair in a bun. I'm there to reach my goals, not prance around like a super model. Hell, there are other guys at the gym that talk to me and work out next to me when I am not training. Are they a threat too?

I think any man who is threatened by the idea of you working out with a male trainer is a man with issues about his own attractiveness and who is simply insecure about himself; i.e., someone to not get involved with.

Same goes for insecure women !

In fact , they should make a jail for all insecure people and lock em up forever !

Vxxn hasnt got a problem...Shes an attractive woman that works out regular.....The problem lies with the insecure sad blokes that assume she is the sort of woman who is likely to jump into bed with her Personal Trainer, Doctor or any other male proffessional she deals with.

Look back over this thread and you can pick out the guys that go into cold sweats the moment the gf gets a text, they go into a panic if she dont reply to a call or message within 5 mins. They feel the urge to check her face book, hang around outside her work and house to check on her. If she looks at a guy they assume she must want to sleep with them. If a guy looks at her they think he is going to steal her away...

This thread is full of issues and problems ......All owned by guys

This thread is proof that not only is it a good thing to have a male trainer as a woman, but to mention it on dates even if you don't have one. Great way to eliminate guys who it's going to bother. It's precisely these guys you're looking to avoid if you have issues with jealousy. This was educational...thanks all.

OP;

Men like women who take care of themselves. It seems to me that's what you are trying to do here. Especially if you are happy with the results of the effort involved.

Can't really understand the jealousy aspect of this given the fact pattern you gave.

Sounds like the Fraternal Brotherhood of Men might want to suspend their Man Card until they grow up a little.

I agree....men and women work together everyday. Some women wearing sexy, clinging two piece suits with stilettos that will turn every mans head...and guess what? Said woman is not tossed onto the meeting room table and screwed. They get to the business at hand and they keep thier internal desires (if they have any) to themselves. Do some in that environment cheat? Im sure they do. The key is trusting your partner.

I think it is hilarious that people have this trainer as being some lech. Jealous I guess. Are some leches? Sure...but thats like saying because you know one married man who cheated that every one of them will. It just aint so and you all saying it over and over again wont make it so.

Op, I say keep telling men you see a trainer, it will for sure weed out the men who will always be trying to hold you back 'cause your 'too pretty' to be allowed out alone and unsupervised! I dont know how you get through the day always being tempted to hump all of men who you are working with on any given day/task....lol...my word, next you wont be allowed inside a gym at all 'cause someone thinks you are too cute to go there and be looked at.

None of these guys would have an issue if you weighed 600 pounds and had 4 chins.

^^^If she can afford to pay one and it's working - what's your point? If I was making enough to afford it I'd have a trainer at my house every day at 5 AM waking me up, male or female. The only reason I don't work with trainers as much is the expense. Who cares if she can do it alone if she's OK with paying the bill?
