Wow all my contemporaries on this thread are so hot!
Guys don't care, I often see a face and hope she's older just to dampen the lechery a bit. If I see a woman 50 and she looks good it's a bonus. I'm 55 so not sure about the cougar chasers but I really doubt many would care less in late 40's or early 50's a good cougar is a good cougar.
I wish I knew about cougars when I was young but I don't even think we had them. All my cougar if only I knew girls, are now in nursing homes.

^Nothing to do with being unhappy. I'm as ''happy'' as the next 50-something.
What are the positives of ageing? (aside from abusing trespassers..lol..)
What I see is discrimination - professional, financial, sexual...not to mention health!

Age, age... are you in good shape?
Allow me to suggest... Since you have already had the 30 year old man, try the 20's.
Why degrade to the 50 year old men?
 U make it entertaining

I like being 50.
I like knowing who I am and what I want out of life.
I like NOT having that dreaded monthly cycle and the emotions that accompanied it.
I like looking at the younger crowd ... shaking my head and going ... wtf?
I wouldn't step backwards ... NOPE ... not at all.
I've earned this age.
I've earned my maturity.
I've earned my peace.
Learn to enjoy yours!

Well, I'm not a cougar (wrong sex entirely). I wish they would come up with some nifty name like "cougar" instead of just calling me a "dirty old man". (smile)

How does "panther" sound?

Does life get better after 50... dating wise?

Well, I don't know about "dating wise", but at 51 I haven't felt as good as I do now in long time. Mentally and physically. Than again, I don't base my feelings on how well things are going with the dating thingy. It is what it is,and what I make of it. I could sit, pout, and become a grumpy old fart. Instead, I'll just become a grumpier old fart. I have found it's good for my soul!!!!!!

And, yeah, I don't mind the young things calling me a dirty old man. I don't have glasses because the make me look good.

I recall the dreaded 30, the dreaded 40, the dreaded 50 and the dreaded 60. Life is a series of stages. If one accepts where one is in life one can be happy. Cheers to your turning 50, OP!

Peppy - Don't be a Debbie Downer!

There are lots of positives to aging.
1) Confidence.
2) Settled in career and making decent money.
3) Finally got your shit together and know who you are and what you want.
Of course, I can only speak for myself......

congrats Phoenix 55....

as for the dreaded 50,
the only place it is worse is on dating sights where some people only look at profiles according to age.
that one number makes a difference. funny....because you are only a day older, not a year

I prefer meeting IRL....where no one is advertising their age. It works better for me.

Have no fears, Stellavixen, turning 50 is only a big deal if you make it one. The only real difference is that some in POF set filters on their search and tend to use round numbers. Most men are pretty flexible in their search criteria because a few years don't really matter if they are in the same place mentally.

I find the dreaded 50s to be a terrific time in life. As far as dating...For me it is important to stay to true to myself and take whatever time it takes to find the partner of my desires.

What she said!

OP, you truly are as old as you feel - and how you fell comes from what you think. Stay positive and enjoy the fact that you are healthy and vivacious and fabulous! It's better than the alternative!

The absolute best times of my life have been since I turned 43. I turned 60 a couple of weeks ago, and except for being a year closer to the day I die, there are no downsides. I am in good health, I look good, I have a job that I greatly enjoy, and have been seeing a man since February. I have more self-confidence than I did when I was 20, 30, or 40.

OP, it is what you make of it. I read in these forums where young people can't find a date: it isn't about age, it is about taking care of yourself, putting yourself "out there," making yourself as attractive as you can be, and having a positive outlook.

When I was 54 I spent a whole year telling people I was 55.

At 49, I spent a year telling people that I was 50 to get into the swing of things; I did the same at 59, but only for about six months. I figure that somewhere down the line, I have a year and a half coming to me. Maybe I will be 69 for an extra year.
