I loved As Time Goes By. Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer were an amazing team. It had a good long run from 1992 to 2005. Judi's now in her late 70's, still going strong, and Geoffery's still making appearances at age 85.

English is my second language so sometimes don't get all the subtelties. One show, however had me always laughing so hard. It was about a young priest (early 20's) who was naive and had to put up with the sometimes irreligious behavior of an older priest. The young guy was in a type of on the job training and had to listen to marital, sex, etc, confessions that he didn't have a clue how to deal with.

Fawlty Towers was the best. As Time Goes By was a close second.

Yes Sciencetreker we have a winner.

If the older priest was Father Duddleswell, you are referring to Bless me Father. This show was hilarious even if you arent Catholic.

I want to thank the folks who mentioned The Vicar of Dibley, because I found that for the first time last night and it is hilarious.

The blonde girl looks like she could be the sister of the character on the original, British version of The Office who became the Dwight Schrute character in the US version. Or maybe it's that guy in drag. ;)

Given all 'The Two Ronnies' fans, I'm very suprised no-one's mentioned 'Porridge' and 'Going Straight'...

...Classic Ronnie Barker!

...And let's not forget Only Fools and Horses! ; )

I LOVED Waiting for God ... I may have liked it the best of all ...

Definitely my favorite, though that may be in good part because I introduced my parents to it and they loved it. I enjoy virtually everything mentioned here so far!

Did Peep Show get a mention already? Anything with/by Mitchell & Webb...

Oh and The Catherine Tate Show, marvelous.

Benny Hill -- which was aired on PBS -- which I should not have watched so young, but did, anyway.

And, of course, my all-time favourite: Monty Python! As teenagers in the 80's in my block of the world, we shamelessly repeated cliches from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that show called "Ideal". It's about a pot dealer and the ludicrous customers he gets. Sounds like a simplistic premise but its actually very funny, especially if you like dark comedy.

Oh, Ideal was wonderful. I hope it's available on Netflix - BBCAmerica stopped airing it at a very confusing time for Moz. Well, it's probably always a confusing time for Moz!

How about allo allo?

Controversial in its day because it was about the french resistance. Cod accents, the gestapo,
british pilots.

Here a wee clip of gestapo agent herr flick in undercover mode

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOhsHRLX7fw

Another hit or miss show was two pints of lager and a packet of crisps.
They done a xmas special musical version with very risque songs and
based on the hits of the day. Again another wee clip where robbie williams
gets the treament.

Ladies and gentlemen i give you the gazster and rock bj (someone has added the lyrics for you johnny foreigner types

In fact heres the whole show. If sex offends you then its maybe not for you

The dampness of the pants is how I'll know (its in one of the songs)

If you like the two pints you can get links to the whole show on youtube
