Life is less and less worthwhilePage 5 of 5    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

You wouldn't believe how many people will NOT know what you are talking about here moonbeam!!!!!! I like it though!!!!!

As Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson) said to Simon Bishop (Greg Kinnear), "I tell you, buddy... I'd be the luckiest guy alive if that did it for me."

LOVE that movie... loved that line :) And luckily we all have different things that we can do that can do it for us :)

I don't know.
What I do know is, don't kick yourself for "things not done."
Because -- Skydiving, bunjee jumping, a flight, a trip somewhere, maybe you had a premonition or "something," or maybe you just would have had a LOUSY TIME ANYWAY because you really didn't "really" want to do it, and you forced yourself.
FORGET the "should of's" at least, free yourself from that.
How do you know that maybe you weren't right most of the time, or all along.

I find the fact that life has obviously less and less of a future duration to make the current moments more precious.

I feel the same way and am finding just the simple things in life far more precious..I wake up every morning and say thanks for gifting me with another day in paradise..

The OP sounds like they might be experiencing some clinical Depression, along with the arthritis/gout symptoms. And both are very treatable, without being "drugged up". BTW, whenever in a rut, the best advice is to change up something, ANYTHING (location, habits, foods, whatever) to bring a different perspective, which is mostly what it's all about.

And even for the less "dire" situations, it might be helpful to remember the definition of suicide as, "a permanent solution, to a temporary problem."

The OP is gone; and she had said in a few months she would turn 55; and that is now. This is one of those disappearing times I seriously hope they are ok... and that they made it through their birthday and realize it is a new year and a new chapter they can write however they want; with effort, help and focus.

Seriously sending prayers their way. Hugs OP, wherever you are. Hope life becomes worthwhile for you.

^^Don't worry, ''she'' is a ''he'', and is still here, but under a different name.

There is an asteroid coming in 2032 that 'could' blow the planet into cataclysmic disaster and end life as we know it .....
so see there is that to live for - should it happen - it could be a hell of a show.

"NASA Near-Earth Object program manager Donald Yeomans said there is a 1 in 48,000 chance that the 1,300-foot asteroid will hit Earth when it comes back on Aug. 26, 2032."

Speaking of "depression", I never get how in a time when the answer to almost anything is always right there at the tip of our fingers, we STILL insist on spreading the MOST negative, LEAST accurate and least likely stuff?!

Although, who knows, maybe Obama really is a muslim, alien, socialist Kenyan (with Nazi tendencies...lol)!

You know I thought that way when I got my last divorce. I spent several years in mental and emotional misery. I have a lot of pain too, bad back and knees from being a lawn dart for horses too many times. BUT I'm not ready at all to throw in the towel and I hope nobody else here is either. I got some help for my depression and I sucked it up on the pain issue. Since that time, I've traveled to Ireland 5 times. I still keep riding horses. I keep as active as I can. I feel very blessed to have gotten to age 62 considering how unkind I've been to my body over the years. I have lots of things on my bucket list and plan to get as many of them done as possible. It would be awesome to have someone to share my travels and adventures with, but if that person doesn't come along, it won't stop me from getting out there and enjoying life.
