Kilt on a first date?Page 2 of 5    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
OP, if you are going to feel sexy in the kilt, then wear it.

I am a total softy for anything celtic personally...so I would be thrilled if my fella wore a kilt.

Kilt on a first date?

I was out one weekend and a man in the crowd was wearing kilt, I have no idea if it was part of his ancestral dress or not but everyone was stared at him, I have to assume he enjoyed the attention. If part of your personality is to be a bit avant garde and showy then go right ahead. She should know from the beginning that time spent with you is going to be interesting. Do you ever wear other cultural garb? Brunch in a yarmulke or gauchos to the movies?

Kilt on a first date?

Sir Sean Connery was asked, what he wore under his kilt?

The former 007 star remained as suave as ever.
He smiled and politely replied,
"If very, very lucky, a ring of lipstick."

In this politically correct world, it's nice to see Lone and Eric making suggestions about the proper way a black English male should accessorize a kilt. Growing up in a deep rooted Scottish and Irish family, my ancestors would use the term "sasinack" however.

I love a man in a kilt, but then again I'm of Irish descent....

What does your skin color have to do with your clothing choice?

No need to get all racist, dude.
If the OP wishes to wear a kilt, let him do his thing. It's not hurting you.
Live and let live, sheesh.

My Grandfather, who was born in Serbia over a century ago, was married in Canada in a kilt. He fought for Canada in WWI under the Scottish Regiment. I love to see a kilt. I always say, if you are going to wear it, you should wear it. The important thing is that you are comfortable in it.

I can see if you have one in your family, but just to be wearing one other than halloween is just a tad weird in my opinion on a first date....

However, I love the "steam punk" look... I wonder how a man would view me showing up on a first date in that outfit, lol...

As you know, first impressions are lasting impressions.... hum?

Kilt on a first date? Hmmm, I'm not sure. Maybe, it depends how hairy the guy's legs are...? Geeeeeee, I'm on the fence with this one.....but I'm wearing jeans, so the fence doesn't bother me :)

If you think she should have a heads up on what you are wearing, I think maybe letting her know would be a good idea. The thing is we don't know what type of clothes people wear where you live, I have no idea. If I was into kilts but realized in my area no one ever wore them, I think that would be one of those initial phone conversations as far as what you like, she likes etc. Then you have your answer, pretty simple.

I think I will see if Seattle rents kilts and post my gams on here. Never thought about that before. Might be another way of getting "attention"

OP might very well have legs sculpted like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his 1980's Mr. Olympia gold medal heyday.

Arnold was never known for his legs amoungst the body building elite.. I seem to recall a highland games competitor who had the nickname "quadzilla" who had 44" thighs maybe the OP is going for that look.

"Would you date a black guy who wore a kilt on a first date? "

I would be horrified if a man of any race show showed up for a first date in a kilt. Right after I laughed till I cried.
Last thing I need is a first date with a man looking for any and all attention he can get.

If women are OK with a guy wearing a kilt on a date, I'll show up for a date wearing a Batman or Spiderman outfit.

They are common "post-activity" garments among cycling and trailrunning aficionados.

Eric, care to explain to the people why they tend to do this? ;)~

Taint any good reason I could think of :)

Op, I would find it odd, but also arousing to have a guy show up on a date in a kilt.

Maybe where you live but seeing someone wearing a kilt at a cycling or trailrunning event where I live is much less common that seeing someone dressed as a comic book superhero.

Purely as a novelty and because it is nice to slide out of spandex kit after a 130-mile bicycle ride and into loose garments. Typically worn by fit and powerful riders with the muscled legs to successfully pull it off.

OP ... it could put things right out there!

From what some men on here have told me, it would mean less work for her to get down to business?

Do you wear anything under your kilt?

The decision should be pretty damn easy - if you're 'On the Fence' - don't ever, EVER wear a kilt. Slivers, you know...

We don't. We simply have a full contingent of professional bagpipers commence playing upon our triumphant return.
The music is hauntingly beautiful...well...if we really did have a band of bagpipers awaiting us. ;-)
