Why did he not get this sort of traction the last time?

The wingnuts weren't as "angry"... at least not at the Repub candidates... and they hadn't yet realized that their "armour clad majority" in the House... was nothing more than a "paper tiger"...

This time around... they're "angry" at everybody who fails to satisfy their "bloodlust"... which kind of explains Trump... and even Cruz...

The "angry white man" has become... positively apoplectic...

Are we, as a nation, getting more foolhardy by the decade?

Well... certainly SOME are... the "AWM" for sure...

Now... if only they had an actual rational reason for that "anger"... but... they don't...

My prediction is that the GOP's strength in congress will be a hindrance to them getting the Executive branch. Historically, this country has had a Dem congress when they elected a GOP prez. Balance of power and all that. Bush II was the notable exception, and... say no more...

But that's not the issue here -- the issue is that you and Eric and others are complaining about the insults that are being tossed at you, but you are fine with Donald Trump being the all-mighty-god of insults.

Actually, it is.

"Why did he not get this sort of traction the last time?"

And he did.

You may think those are contradictory responses, but the only time out of the many times Trump "threatened" to run for president that he actually followed through with paperwork was 2000 when he ran for the Reform Party nomination and won the California primary (I'm sure it was not very hard). So he's never been an official candidate of a major party before.

He has, however, been included in Republican Party presidential polls in the past before officially declaring that he would not be a candidate. From his Wikipedia page about his 2012 candidacy flirtation:

"As Trump publicly speculated about seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released in March 2011 found Trump leading among potential contenders, one point ahead of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. A Newsweek poll conducted in February 2011 showed Trump within a few points of Barack Obama, with many voters undecided in the November 2012 general election for president of the United States. A poll released in April 2011 by Public Policy Polling showed Trump having a nine-point lead in a potential contest for the Republican nomination for President of the United States while he was still actively considering a run."

So he did have a lot of traction -- he could have created as much trouble 4 years ago for the Republicans as he is now, even though he never said anything about Mexican rapists prior to his hot polls in 2011. We consider that speech the catalyst for his popularity right now because he was polling so low before he officially entered the race -- yet I think the bigger question is, why was he polling so low prior to entering this year's race if he was polling so well in 2011? As for why he chose not to enter in 2011 despite leading in several polls, I'm sure it was a financial decision, as are most of his decisions. Perhaps at the time he determined he couldn't afford to run for president for whatever reason -- not that he had any less money than he does now, but he may have had a lot of things on his plate and needed the potential lost income. Plus, if he had won the Republican nomination that cycle, he would have been going up against a sitting president -- regardless of Obama's popularity at the time, it's still a tougher job to unseat a politician than to take an office that's vacant.

if you read what I wrote, I said that if he is still relevant by THIS TIME NEXT YEAR
which means that he could very well be the nominee if he still keeps a sizeable lead.


After all, any Democrat with half a brain WANTS him to be the Republican nominee


and that ^ is certainly the case now, so there is no need to go after him (fearing that it might strengthen a more worthy opponent), but things have a habit of changing from 1 year to the next.


I think most Democrats that stumble across something devastating to Trump are just going to sit on it until next summer!


Don't think that there is much to stumble across, he's almost like an open book. I don't know how well he covers up his tracks. If he's hiding something, then he'd be better off coming clean on it himself before his opponents blow the lid off.

as has been said before, Faux news took Trump the birther and made him legitimate by putting him on often. Its a bit like the TV cable show "Storage Wars", where an auction couple made money off a loudmouth running up bids on competitors (and putting more money in the auctioneers pocket), and since then he's gone out of business and targeted them for grief. Faux helped the monster get a "main-stream" audience, and its ready to eat the GOP. they got record viewers b/c everyone wanted to see the monster eat. now Roger Ailes caters to him again.

The GOP should be terrified the Don is representing it. its not a problem for the Dems, b/c it might scare enough who thought gay marriage and Obamacare was a win, to consider having the Don in charge of the veto pen and run to the voting booth.

We should start a pool. The date he pulls out.

It's pretty clear that he is eventually going to say enough outrageous stuff that even Republican voters will desert him. And there's no way his fragile ego can take finishing out of the running. So he will drop this bid at some point. Plus, it's actually hard work to run. That's not something someone with his sheltered life and upbringing has any experience with.

I'm going to say Oct. 19.

Trump is the best symbol ever to emerge demonstrating what money can buy, and if he get to become president and they all appear a bunch of freeloaders if the ever was one, then such people will have at their disposal, the ability to play per-emptive strikes with nuclear weapons, and no one can stop them.

I am not saying Clinton is any better, as all will need possibly a few hundred million or more, thus also tied to corporate greed, in which we all know the USA economy is predicated on munitions, and munitions need war. Fortunately we live in an Orwellian world where perpetual war, I mean profits, are always available, and inventing excuses is just a PR exercise, where the saturated media dupes everyone every time., or enough people that it does not matter anyway.

One can thank the foresight of Regan dumbing down education, otherwise we would have an informed population asking pertinent questions instead of taking opinion as fact.

So who are left to dominate in the big wide world of gangster rule? Well its only China and Russia really, with only Syria, North Korea, Iran left, so we know who the enemy is as they do not have US military bases on their soil, where inconvenient governments can be eradicated in prefabricated coups. If the populations do not accept it, then its just a matter of sending the death squads in, so no change there.

Has the USA made the world a safer place since WW2? Is the quality of life better for most people in the world now that it used to be? Is there less poverty that ever before? Does the USA win wars, or just attempt to manage the chaos they create?

Why doesn't the US just invade Mexico and force the Mexicans at gunpoint to become a US state?

After all the US has done it before when they sent thousands of illegal immigrants to Texas and California, which were internationally recognised Mexican territories and then invaded those Mexican territories and acquired them illegally at gunpoint.

Repeating history again and stealing land off the Mexicans and declaring it the 51st State would solve the immigration problem!

Trump will not be the teadipper nominee ... he will run on a third ticket.

He will not win.

The "border states" will all join together and secede and make Trump their King because he will build them a wall.



But after a while, they will have to rejoin the US because they will discover they are not good at picking crops ... and cleaning their homes and pools ... and mowing their yards ... and cooking their own meals and taking care of their own children ... and fixing their roofs and driving the garbage trucks and ................. LMFAO

I saw the same thing going on over in Germany ... the Germans were happy to have the "Gastarbeiters" ... Italians and Turks ... doing the "dirty work" (trash collection, construction jobs, road building, etc.), then they'd stand around and make demeaning remarks and jokes about them. I couldn't resist telling them that I thought it was despicable behavior when you consider they wouldn't be caught dead doing that work but make fun of others trying to make an honest living and better themselves in the world.
