Doreime and myself rescued a kitten at the park while walking my dog. Teens were hitting her with flip flops and throwing basket balls at her. She had a large burn on her back where a fire cracker had been set off. She was just spayed by a community effort for free because we kept her. Well my kids Dad and I. BTW, she caught a virus at the community spay / neuter place but after 3 trips to the vets and antibiotics she is doing very well.

A facebook post my brother forwarded to me, made by someone from the area I grew up in ...

Ok. So I grew up pretty poor in Westlawn. My parents although poor with money but rich with love struggled to provide for 4 children. I remember when I was like 12 I always had hand me down shoes because I was the baby. I was always embarrassed going to school as all the other kids had the new sneakers and I didn't. So I went downtown Warren and would go into the businesses asking for small jobs to get school shoes. One attorneys office I went into by Saratoga the attorney (I want to say his first or last name was Albie) sent me to the Army-Navy when it was on courthouse square with a note inside an envelope to give to the man there. The note said to give me my choice of shoes. I remember picking a pair of converse that I liked and had more confidence when I wore them to school. To make a long story short. I'm a new father and I know how it is to not have. Now that I'm better off I want to pay that Attorneys kindness forward. I'm going to buy a child a pair of shoes for school. If your child doesn't have a new pair for school and times are hard. Hit my inbox and I will get your child a new pair. Obviously I can't do this for everyone so please don't be hurt if I don't pick your child.

Well, I had a birthday on August 1. (which was good because I got a new Louise Green
hat but also not so good because I'm a year older, which is better than not having a
birthday at all)

My daughter graduated nursing school (which is good) and moved to Texas (which
isn't so good) but she got a good job there that she loves (which is good).

My granddaughter said "I love my Mimi and she loves cheese too" when asked at the
deli if she would like a slice of cheese.

I paid for the guy behind me in Starbucks yesterday, and when I went there today they told
me they kept the pay it forward going for 37 cars...so that was good. But I wonder what
happened to the 38th car.

I saw a pig milking a cow...so that was good.
And now there is a thunderstorm...so that is awesome.

Deluges here as well in MN. Just went down to the basement and water was where it should not be. Good news is I have a quality dehumidifier to dry things up quickly!

Oops, one room down there I forgot to check. Fingers crossed+ it's dry!

Flash flood warnings abound! Glad I am on high ground<

^^^^Shut the gates over there!

Good thing for rivers over here to carry away the water.

Good sleeping weather for rain.

Hope your basement doesn't take in too much water. Time to pour the bleach down there....

None of us regular posters live in the top 5 divorce countries with divorce rates over 60%.

A trivia question from last night that no one knew.

Name the top 5 countries for divorce rate.

2 Russian Federation 5.3 per 1000 persons
3 United States of America 4.2 per 1000 persons
4 Belarus 4.1 per 1000 persons

^^^^ I wonder if this rate is based on comparative analysis of how many people got married and got divorce vs average singles in these countries.

Got my power back on after being out for over 30 hours.

People are phucked without power, by the way.

I can't wait till the big one hits here. We'll lose half of the idiots within 24 hours after witnessing their behaviour the last 30.

These figures are from the UN and personally I find them easier to compare.

Belgium 71% of marriages end in divorce.
Portugal 68%
Hungary 67%
Czech Republic 66%
Spain 61%
Luxembourg 60%
Estonia 58%
Cuba 56%
France 55%

USA 53%

Australia 33%

Here in Australia the divorce rate is falling.
Marriages are lasting longer.
And you have a 2/3 chance of staying married after taking your vows.
Pretty good I think.
Pretty good news.

Nahh. I have to pay the $75 pack fee then I can go online and order the uniform, the badges, the troop numbers, plus my book. Do not get the older book, since they have a completely new one. Then we talked about essentials things to go camping, and favorite desserts. If the troop leader lifts his hand up with two fingers pointing up, it means the ears of the wolf. It also means silence.

So many maladjusted kids that years later come to dating sites complaining about the unfairness of the world. If only they had gone to Cub Scouts. I still have a lot to learn.

My contribution here is something which I never got around to also putting in that thread about what makes you cry -

The seed bank in Russia. In Leningrad. During WW2. They chose to starve to death, and they did, instead of cooking some of their stores in order to survive.

...that's my kind of people right thar.
