Two come to mind:

1. I had a "no-show" where I'm pretty sure she got there first, positioned herself strategically, and slipped out the side door after inspecting the goods from afar. Alternate theory is that she had a friend check me out and phoned her with the evaluation.
To add to the embarrassment, as I stood there like a Big Dummy, a married couple who are among my Best Friends walked through the door of the restaurant and wondered what I was doing by myself at a bar 45 miles from my home (we live in different cities.) Oh Lord, please make me small, smaller, smallest.

2. Third date; first invite to dinner at her house. Arrive and an ex-boyfriend is cooking dinner for us! I try to go with situation a little (stupid is as stupid does), but the ex seems to be part of the scene. As they move into the kitchen and leave me alone, I slip into the coat closet, get my coat, quietly open the front door, and stealthily drive home.

Pre-cell phone days; when I get home there is a message on my answering machine wondering what happened to me. I was a slow learner; I let her keep me around as a pitch hitter for a while.

I haven't been in that situation, but it reminds me of a first meet I had where I could envision that scenario happening. The woman told me that her ex is her best friend. They spend a lot of time together, go places together, celebrate holidays and events together, but they just can't be together as husband and wife anymore. And any guy she dates will have to be OK with that. I think it's good if people can break up and divorce without turning the divorce into World War 3 and creating a lot of bitterness and hostility, but I don't expect them to be best buddies afterwards either. Two is company and three is a crowd, so that was the end of that.

I would not be able to accept those terms.

Now bad dates? The worst? Maybe the guy who tried to grab my crotch as I sat in his car, as I was saying, "Good night, it was nice to meet you". Which quickly changed to a few choice words as I flung the car door open to escape.

The guy who ditched me at the Casino did me a favor, LOL

Or the guy who contacted me, set up a date to meet me, took me for a burger and beer, then confessed he was set up by his friend to meet me, to check me out. His friend was too chicken to contact me himself. LOL Yah OK, NEXT!

Onyx, I was thinking about the date you had in Vegas with the woman from Prague who slapped the waiter for bringing the check before you and she were done eating.

I lived in Germany for almost 7 years and travelled all over Europe and parts of Africa. International travelers understand that there are cultural differences in every country. It is quite true that Europeans enjoy a slow, leisurely meal with breaks inbetween courses for socializing and more often than not, the waitstaff won't bring the check till it is asked for.

Compare that to the atmosphere in Vegas where there may be lines of people waiting for a table, people wanting a quick meal because they are off to the casino or a show and are running short of time. Vegas is fast paced 24/7.

I think your friend was out of hand to slap the waiter. "When in Rome do as the Romans do."

I recall that now, and didn't realize she had a twin living in my area (lol). The difference is the woman I met had no kids, so it's not like she wanted to recreate a one big happy family scene. I don't get it, and won't waste time trying to.

I'm assuming you meant "pinch hitter"?

I've had similar situations more than once. But then again, I'm active on sites like alt and fetlife, where a threesome is an everyday event and no one gets upset about it. Had you ever mentioned that you were looking for a threesome? Or that you were "adventurous"?

Holy shit, yeah. Several times, different situations.

It even happened when I was dating. I went on a date with one woman. A woman sitting across on a table with a female friend saw me and recognized me from match. We talked lightly. My date arrived. We dated for a few months and occasionally slept together. Then the woman I saw at the restaurant and I went out on a date. Dated a few months so then I go to the same restaurant with her, and guess who was at that restaurant. My first date. It got weird to say the least.

and hear her yell out...so I look and she was pushing a roach off her plate. She had eaten all of the food......the Manager came over and said he'd comp our meal........after we left, said asked if she could have the money that I was gonna use to pay for the food....


Worst date for HER I believe.!!
1-She ATE the food with a ROACH.
2- Then her date Stole HER money.!

Sometimes life is not fair with some...Poor lady :(

you know now not ever to drive 45 miles for a meet especially if she has not really seen good pics of you. Also not to arrange to meet at a bar but somewhere you can sit and read or use your laptop if there is a no show and have a meal on your own with no discomfort, Strategy!!! .


As for the ex cooking dinner, I would have stayed at least for the meal and made my excuses. I get that you would be uncomfortable if it was just the three of you. However you were rude to leave the way you did and this sort of behaviour does come back to bite you in the bum.

Older retired flight attendant invited me over. We hadn't even met yet.

I drive up and front door to a large, beautiful house is open. Garage is open also.

A Porsche and Jag in the garage.

I walk in and yell...Hello?!

A voice from upstairs says...I'm up here Stevie. C'mon up!

I walk up and there she is standing near the bed. She hands me a glass of wine. We toast and make out a bit.

I notice a book on her desk...The Mile High Club. I can't help it and start laughing.

She abruptly says it's time to go eat.

I take her to get Sushi. She explains that her male roommate is out for the evening. Whadeva.

I drive her back and see a nice Harley on the street in front of house.

She says to let her out before we reach the house so he doesn't see me.

I got a weird vibe the roommate was her husband, but I don't know. I did try asking her out again but she she said she needs to see what her roommate's schedule is.

Weird shit.

No, I had never hinted at this. In retrospect, she was on the 'adventurous' side. That particular situation wouldn't have worked out for me.

It's twin cities type situation where if you live in my mid-size town with my skills and interests you spend a lot of time in the larger town. We had seen what I thought were good pictures of each other and had several good phone conversations. Over time I stopped meeting for meals first and always had meet'n'gteets. I was probably 'Man of the Year' at the local Starbucks for a while.

I see that I said 'bar'. It was at an 'Outback' that had a bar and I did eat at the bar afterwards. My friends ran into when I was sitting wide-eyed right up front in the 'waiting for some-one cubby' at the entrance. Pre-internet access days (about 2004) and laptops were still real pricey in terms of possible theft. No-one reads at 'Outback'.

I never really thought of it that way and there is some truth to it. Seemed to be a lot of happy flirting going in the kitchen and I was left alone in the living room. I would leave again.

I won't drive more then 30 miles for a meet/1st date.

In LA, that's an hour sometimes.



I think that I'm pass my 'use by' date for OLD. I have my profile up more off than on, but I never contact anyone when it's on.

I get you re the technology and not being available. However I would have at least said "two is company, three is a crowd and I am leaving." Leaving without a word was what was rude. How do you know that the other guy was even going to be around for dinner?? Perhaps he was about to leave.... However I cant imagine anyone else tolerating that situation unless they hoped for a threesome lol!!

Mine was just recently. I met this guy from Match. We had already exchanged a lot of emails, talked on the phone and met in person. We decided our first date would be to go to the beach.

He picks me up and we start driving to the beach. I try to make small talk. He's doesn't say anything beyond one word answers. We get to the beach, and he says he doesn't feel like walking so we pick out a flat rock and gaze out at the ocean. Again, I tried to make conversation, and again, he would barely answer me. I was getting irritated so I suggest we take off and head down the road to a different beach. We drive there, with no conversation. I decided to give up trying to get him to talk, and I asked him if he had lunch, since he picked me up at noon. He informs me that he doesn't eat lunch. I said that we might as well head home. There was no conversation on the way home. When we got to the door, he said
"I'm sorry you had a terrible time. I'm sorry I don't know how to talk." I told him he was a sweet guy gave him a hug, and said "see you soon." Luckily, he hasn't emailed or called. He knew he was horrible company.
