"i'm amazed at the amount of couples I know where the bf comes over, gets laid, sleeps over, and then after he leaves I get a phone call to replace the lightbulb over the garage, see if the lawnmower can be replaced or fixed, et cetera. "

I have a woman come over once in a while who does the same thing but I certainly don't expect her to cook for me or do other chores in exchange .

Why would I ?
Because she has a vajayjay and that's her ...." role " ?

You do know what year it is , right ?

To what are you responding?

Maybe I misread gto's post.

How did you interpret it?

Butterchuck...you got me. That's a good counterargument. Its a valid point. And it ticks me off :) Not every guy is a handyman who can fix stuff around the house. but if they were....why not leave the joint better than you found it? :)

maybe I'm just an elitist a-hole who needs to get laid :)

eegads...whatever happened to being able to change your own lightbulb and determine if your own lawnmower needs fixing or not? If someone chooses to do those things for you out of the kindness of his/her heart, that's one thing, but these role expectations in this day and age by both women and men stupefies me. If you can't do the basics to fix stuff belonging to you, then either learn how to yourself, don't be a tight a$$ and pay someone to do it for you (or is that what the sex is? - devalued by using it as a bartering tool), or live in a place where you have everything done for you.

How many real men does it take to change a light bulb?

In 20 years there will be a POF thread titled "is getting a lovebot really cheating on your girlfriend?". And there will be profiles saying "looking for a third or a couple for group sex with me and my lovebot".

That prediction is as sad, to me, as the "I need a man like a fish needs a bicycle" women.

But to each his reach.

Men are men and women are women. I like the "roles." Sue me. And I am enjoying the benefits of those roles, as are the men in my life.

Just renctly I had a flat. Waited until a man could change it. I later cooked him a really good dinner.

I guess that we all have our rathers. I like when people need or want. Makes great human interaction in other than the Thank you mam,sir variety.

The only bot that appeals, to me, is the vacuum variety.

Give me a bot that cleans the house and cooks dinner, I'm jappy. Leave the sex part for a real woman

If someone cleaned my house, I wouldn't be able to find anything :)

I can cook for myself, but its funny how things taste better when they're cooked for you. Unless the chef really sucks. I hate stopping off for lunch someplace and realizing I could cook as well as they do--I might as well just waited until I got home.

If a friend or lover needs a favor, i'll do it for them since they'll return the favor in the future. Other people will pretend its not their business. If helpfulness wasn't programmed into a robot, they might not notice. the same could be said about other attributes. How many people want a LoveBot smarter than them? Better at their job? I think it might wear on the ego after a while.

But in the mean time, you can have a nice candlelit dinners, where you're drinking wine and she's drinking 10W30.

Sounds safe for my attachments...

Is it just you or should we expect other men to have "attachments"? How many "attachments" do you have?

On the other hand ... maybe we don't want to know?

That blade less thing ... is that all you'll need?

Just request she remove her teeth first. Save you a lot of dollars instead of buying a Dyson. However, if a man ever made me pick between my Dyson or him... he's gonna lose. Big time. I don't have attachments for it but I am attached to it.

I think artificial intelligence will be a very good thing, but I dislike the idea of robotic lovers and machines taking jobs away from people. I have no problem with a robotic companion for lonely or disabled people, but I think it's probably more rewarding to have a human partner. Who knows how society will evolve though. Maybe we'll have robots that are similar to humans like the ones seen movies like Ex Machina.

The best robot is one that's a robot...not trying to be humanoid or human. Like R2D2.

That's why R2D2 is so cool. He's a robot's robot: Not trying to look like a human; Speaks a robot language instead of English or Swahili; Can communicate with computers via computer language; Has various gizmos and attachments and capabilities like a robot would have, instead of humanoid prostheses.

A lightbulb? comeon
I belong to BCAA, they will come out and change a flat, boost or tow, 24/7, no dinner required
I think some people would be delighted to have a robot to do their bidding.. and no arguing about going Dutch :/
Of course then there will be a collective.

On a free dating site, how may of the users can actually remember what the Real Thing is like?

Mind, you, there seem to be a lot of virgins who want the Real Thing instead...

Robots won't be good at what people already do so well (and
people are created by unskilled labor!) Robots will (and presently)
do things only robots are good at -- things people are not good at
doing, at all, such as calculating the Mandelbrot Set ('fractals').
Or ballistic trajectories. Or threading a bolt with a nut 1,000,000
times until something seizes -- and writing down the exact number
of tries reached until it broke it.

Counting potato chips as they are being made -- accurately. All
day, every day. And 'liking it' (enjoying the process of doing so)
as it were.

Machine Intelligence ('willfulness') is not on the immediate horizon;
there are very good reasons why it may not be possible, even in
theory, to achieve. Portability is a huge issue there (so anthropormorphic
forms of robotry is perhaps a much further distance away, into the
future, than 'slab-AI' that takes up an office building, just to assemble
it all -- might be).

Look instead for telepresence: operable machines, puppets,
marionettes -- that express the will of their (far away) owner,
and, perhaps, stimulate that owner with telepresent touch, smell,
and so forth. This Luppet might amount to a blood pressure
cuff, form-fitting, that the owner wears (bodily) to experience
some crude analog to sexual contact. Add pharmaceuticals and
shake vigorously. That'll be five thousand three hundred and
forty-two credits -- You're Welcome. Thank you for 'using' AT&P.
