Would you date a felon or someone on probation?Page 7 of 8    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
True. My cousin has an artificial eye lost as a boy.. He is an electrician and has driven for almost 50 years. He's like s big brother to me and would drives our families if we went anywhere. I dont blame him as he's a better driver than his sister or me. The only thing he has trouble with is catching a Frisbee...he's ok with a baseball or football.

According to urban dictionary, a falon is a person that is beautiful, funny and intelligent. Based on this, yes I would date a falon. LOL.

Would you date a felon or someone on probation?

Not just no but hell no.

When I was young my family used to do social work inside McNeil Island penitentiary so I came in close contact with many prisoners. Some kept in contact after their release so we knew they went on to live 'normal' lives. Which means I grew up with an assumption, built on first hand experience, that it is possible to reform one's life.

But crime due to addiction, or just addiction itself and the personality distortions that result from it, are incredibly difficult to overcome. Even if they're 'working on' those issues, it's no longer something I want to be along for the ride.

system is corrupt

probably more felons out there without a record
than there are with one
due to corrupt system

don't judge me

I do what I can without a steady job. If perfect citizens were so great wouldn't be so many child molesting teachers and preachers

none of them have felonies til they get caught
untelling how much damage they do.

so, no preachers or teachers for me
I guess we all have our limits.

*ps I'm not a felon

^^^^ Pardon me, but that sounds almost crazy.

I am non-religious. In some ways, I am almost anti-religious, kinda sorta like Bill Maher. I think the Catholic Church, down through history, has been a very bad influence on the world. But … most of the preachers, and Catholic priests, that I have personally known have been good people. People who really seriously tried their level best to do good in this world. Unlike most of us, who are just trying to get by, they actually try to do good.

And teachers, a very, very important, underrated job. Yes, many of the teachers that I had when I was in public school were … well, not so great. But there were a few who really did teach me, inspire me, enlighten me. I think if we appreciated the job more, if we rewarded them better, there would be many more good ones, and fewer lackadaisical ones.

Uh… no, not true.

I'll challenge that to a certain extent. From the fall of Rome to the early modern age, what little higher education, care for the poor and the weak, hospitals and orphanages were ministered by the Church. The Church as a place of sanctuary was part of the little justice that existed. Peace treaties and long truces from mutual slaughter were negotiated and honored with Church involvement. Travelers found safety in the scattered monasteries. For every corrupt, political Prince of the Church (and their name was legion), there were dozens of humble parish priests tending their little flocks.

Europe of the Middle Ages would have been a colder and harsher society without the Catholic Church or a similar institution. I'm not anti-religious. I'm non-religious. Despite some serious efforts, I just never 'feel' inside me what the serious believers I know 'feel' inside themselves. I envy them their comfort and certainty.

I'm an atheist, but I'm quite sure there was an actual historical Jesus. On another thread here, I've posted my theory on what actually happened on the day of the Crucifixion. (Very short version - The Romans rushed and botched the execution. A badly injured Jesus was found barely alive in his tomb by his followers. He ministered to his followers for a short period and then died, probably due to massive infection related to his severe wounds.)

YMMV

My knee jerk reaction is HELL NO. But, in reality, its a maybe. Depends on the charge.

I casually dated a guy that I met at the local dog park. There was a verbal altercation between him and another dog owner. Both men were known to be hot heads. The guy I was not friends with called the police and claimed my friend had picked up a shovel and made threats. Whole ugly mess ended up in court. Friend ended up with a year of probation, and some charges on his record. I would not have used that as a reason to not date him. There were plenty of other reasons though!

Not ignoring them, I was offering a defense of the good done by the Church. I knew someone would jump to the inquisition and the crusades.

Stalin and Mao, both self-proclaimed socialists and atheists, were not unblemished peaches either.

Pluto, I got Federal Way to create the small dog offleash area in the dog park. I proposed the idea, then spoke to the parks dept and other FW city planners. They originally wanted to put it in a park in Adelaide, because it already had a fenced in area that was used for horses back on the day.

I can see how the dog park could be a crazy place with people who bring their aggressive dogs there and then the crazy people that don't watch what their dogs are doing. I don't go there. I proposed the small dog park to help people with small dogs keep them safe.

Are you sure that guy didn't do something to get probation? It sounds like an excuse to say why he has a record.

There will always be as many women who think that a parolee complete with swastika tats and shaved heads are "sweet but misunderstood" as men who think that tweaking, pregnant single mothers are "smoking hot".

It is encouraging to see that Pluto has the self knowledge evaluate the issue as it is. Undoubtedly, it helps her handle her real life situations better than someone completely blind to their own tendencies.

Yeah, but when going online, people are more on-guard for a "catch". If you were there and saw your FWB not do what the other guy claimed -- yeah, understandable of course. Or if you knew him and knew he could be a jerk but not like That, sure. But online of someone you don't know, if that comes out early -- they'll usually walk (if not searching for a 'bad boy').

Every inmate in jail says they didn't do whatever they're in there for. I would accept that whatever they're in trouble for they did and just think whether you find it acceptable or not.

Our entire justice system arrests and convicts no one but innocent men. No wonder that there is so much crime on the street.

Well someone had to do it. The only alternative back then was the aristocracy.

164 "You’re ignoring the inquisition and the crusades, aren’t you? Two of the blackest marks in the history of mankind."

And you forgot to mention the Spanish conquest of the Americas. It was pretty much either convert or die.

Date a felon or someone on probation? Chances are pretty good I wouldn't know at first. A lot of people don't share embarrassing or private information initially. Some things, are only shared if a relationship forms. Would I continue dating a felon? It depends on a lot of factors, but it's doubtful for a lot of reasons. If he was on parole? Once again doubtful for a lot of reasons, most importantly where I am in my life right now. But I wouldn't automatically say no without knowing more about what happened.

As long as she is gainfully employed and has a mortgage, I’m ok with it.
