Hi there Chappy,

I`ve booked the same venue for November 16th and this time I`ll be using the pubs function room so I`ll at least know that those who come in are from the site. I did tell the previous attendee`s about the next event so we shall see.

As for the car, I sold my last one in order to help a friend of mine buy a bus for a school contract and to be honest whilst I`m in this village I can walk everywhere. If I need to leave the village I either get a taxi or get the train or hire a car.

I don't actually socialise very much other than a short walk about 20 mins to my local watering hole and a further 5 mins to the pof venue.

So that's about the extent of it really...

I know when I was up in Pontefract, one of the guys on the course was a taxi driver there. He said taxis were as cheap as chips, anywhere in Pontefract for about £6. Down here for me to use taxi to Cheltenham, around 9 miles, would be £25 and then the same back again. Quite simply not affordable.

Bryan, you do need to get out more to find that woman who needs YOU!

The one thing that got my goat, was the remoaners pathetic drivel regarding the flaccid economic growth out of the E.U. this time last year and how we the great unwashed had shot ourselves in the foot by voting brexit. These people are truly Sycophants to murdering power. There was no mention of the massive amounts of monetary counterfeiting that brought the E.U. to it's once in a decade plop moment.Just a brain dead stab at some insane thought.

By the way we still haven't left. But hey ..

So here we are in 2018 and this year Mario Draghi , the ECB head and ex Goldman sachs banker , told us all that QE was going to come to an end because happy days are here again. Wow. These guys are so much better than our own non-brexiting elite which includes BOE head and ex Goldman sachs banker , Mark Carney. Who I've heard described as the George Clooney of Central banking. He's got a comb over for God's sake.

And how did all this go for Italy these last ten years ?  Well Italy hasn't grown in ten years. Yep, even with that great bespoke trading deal, low interest rates, social " protection" And the mighty Germany running their economy into the ditch, they still haven't grown. In fact and it pains me to say this, they haven't stood still either, being some 5% below Q1 2008.

The German empire's exporting model is sniffing out global recession. Whilst Berlin orders Mario to quieten the printing presses, that grotesquely ordinary,  globalist, Angela Merkel is on her way out and frankly the gulag is finished.

Hasn't stopped "our" business leaders calling for a people's vote to reverse the people's vote they ignored in 2016. Apparently we don't get it. It's upsetting them that there are people who actually want a say.

It's the American midterm elections, on Tuesday, I think. And Donalds worked bullshitting miracles to convince Americans that he's making America great again. Whether we see a republican house or a Democrat one, I am not lying when I say the American economy has underperformed the 1930's Great depression one these last ten years.

How can we not see this ? In short,  monetary heroin. We are shockingly drugged up to the eyeballs. History is replete with the outcomes of monetary debasement , coin clipping,  QE, counterfeiting, or plain simply, the stealing of working people's purchasing power.

The global economic slowdown that started with the the federal reserve note,  a debt , circulating as a global money growing scarce. Pulverising , not for the first time , emerging markets and through contagion, is now bringing Europe and all their debt burden to the brink of recession and collapse. China too is nearing collapse . Although I have to say it does seem a more economically  enlightened dictatorship than the gulag.

Don't worry if it's collapse now or collapse later, for surely they will attempt to collapse it later, eking out the larceny if they can. So it's surely more printing ?

Once a society (and it's a global society) chooses the debasement of its currency it really can't cease until the printing press loses the confidence of the people. We are not anywhere near this yet. We are thoroughly addicted and cold turkey is at this point now possibly fatal for many of us

And now for a little light relief from Mr Keynes and Mr Lenin...

"Lenin is said to have declared that the best way to destroy the capitalist system was to debauch the currency. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and, while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some. The sight of this arbitrary rearrangement of riches strikes not only at security, but at confidence in the equity of the existing distribution of wealth. Those to whom the system brings windfalls, beyond their deserts and even beyond their expectations or desires, become 'profiteers,' who are the object of the hatred of the bourgeoisie, whom the inflationism has impoverished, not less than of the proletariat. As the inflation proceeds and the real value of the currency fluctuates wildly from month to month, all permanent relations between debtors and creditors, which form the ultimate foundation of capitalism, become so utterly disordered as to be almost meaningless; and the process of wealth-getting degenerates into a gamble and a lottery.

Lenin was certainly right. There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."

I'm not saying anything about the above post bit... and my official Spokesman can confirm I was in no
way embarrassed or sheepish when I read this .I am a nobel laureate of course.

Strangely, I do love Daryl hall and John Oates, but wouldn't ordinarily pick this one out. Still after listening to it three times I can now say this is my favourite and It's lovely. You truly are my all time favourite forumite Roxy. Save me of course :)

I did initially think the video would be pop combo , Another level but..........

As for Donald. I think it's great for him. As he can now blame Jerome powell for raising interest rates and the Democrats for being in charge of the lower house. He will say something like , "I had the world's greatest ever economy for two years and these guys ruined it"

Around here most new houses being built are detached 2/3 and 4 bedroomed. There are a few 2 bedder terraces but even they start at two hundred grand. They are pretty much being napped up as they are built. Stay with me. Few people have got any sort of deposit saved up, they are mstly being bought with government "help to buy" scheme. Even allowing for low interest rates, a lot of people will be paying fifteen to twenty five thousand a year just in repayments. Any increase in interest rates will see an awful lot of foreclosures or at least a huge downturn in peoples ability to spend with the knock on effect to the rest of the economy.

My conclusion is that there is no room to increase interest rates by other than a tiny bit if that.

Auld grandad here is on grandbairn duties this afternoon. Wee haud it and daud it, the identical twins go to homework club after school the day. But i digress (as usual).

As much as i dislike the bbc i have to hand it to them for their long reads. This one below caught my eye because of the housing crisis.................

"Home tweet home:

A heartwarming story that turned out to be true

When Holly Dawson posted a tweet about a benefactor who left two homes to be let cheaply to hard-up people in her village, it went viral. But there were also many cynics who cast doubt on the story. She felt compelled to check it out.

Like all good stories, this one starts with a cup of tea in a friend's garden. We're talking, as we often talk, about houses - the impossibility, in this expensive corner of Sussex, of finding a home you can actually afford. Rents around here, even for the smallest two-bedroom house, average £1,000 a month or more.

I write:

Just heard about a guy who died in my village + left 3 houses to the council, with the stipulation that they're for young families to rent for a fixed period of 3yrs with rent of £300 pcm (in an area where rent is £1000+). Because we all need to talk more about the good humans."

Also from the long reads i was not aware so many uk citizens died in the siege at waco where the atf took down the branch davidians...............

"The world watched as a compound in Waco, Texas, became a horrific fireball. Inside the burning building were cult leader David Koresh and scores of his followers. Twenty-five years on, relatives of the British victims reflect on what happened.

Koresh became infamous as the self-styled prophet who thought he was the new Christ.

His followers were in thrall to him, and remarkably, 30 of them were British. Twenty-four died when a weeks-long siege of the compound ended in tragedy.

They came from the streets of Manchester, London and Nottingham - outwardly ordinary young people in their 20s and 30s.

History has largely forgotten them. These are their stories."

Just for you Vlad. Self identification takes a new twist or two.

Last week a woman told her son's school that in the interests of diversity and wotsits, her new son ws now self identifying as an aircraft carrier and wished to be addressed as such.

I think she was trying to make a point.

Meanwhile over on Holland a bloke has gone to court to self identify as 20 years younger. Read for yourself but I think Pof has already got this covered judging by the numboer of iffy profiles, you know, the ones that go "I'm not 45 I'm really 64 but Pof won't let me change it".

anyway - in the Guardian

A 69-year-old Dutch “positivity guru” who says he does not feel his age has started a battle to make himself legally 20 years younger on the grounds that he is being discriminated against on a dating app.

Emile Ratelband told a court in Arnhem in the Netherlands that he did not feel “comfortable” with his date of birth, and compared his wish to alter it to people who identified as transgender.

Ratelband said that due to having an official age that did not reflect his emotional state he was struggling to find both work and love. He has asked for his date of birth to be changed from 11 March 1949 to 11 March 1969.

“When I’m 69, I am limited. If I’m 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car,” he said. “I can take up more work. When I’m on Tinder and it says I’m 69, I don’t get an answer. When I’m 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position.”

Doctors had told him his body was that of a 45-year-old man, Ratelband argued. He described himself as a “young god”.

The judge conceded that the ability to change gender was a development in the law. “I agree with you: a lot of years ago we thought that was impossible,” he said. But he asked the applicant how his parents would feel about 20 years of Ratelband’s life being wiped off the records.

“For whom did your parents care? Who was that little boy then?” the judge asked.

Ratelband, a motivational speaker and trainer in neurolinguistic programming, said his parents were dead.

He also said he was willing to renounce his right to a pension to ensure there were no unforeseen consequences of his age change.

At the end of a 45-minute court session, Ratelband said: “It is really a question of free will.”

Ratelband’s lawyer, Jan-Hein Kuijpers, said it was high time for the reversal of age.

The public prosecutor in the court asked whether the ability to change a date of birth in the law would require health inspections in the future, to allow the state to correctly judge someone’s “emotional age”.

Kuijpers told the court: “There is also something like common sense, of course.”

I posted about the dutch geezer on off topic. The geezer is just taking this identity nonsense and showing it for what it is.

Wonder if i could get a hoose if i said i was a single wummin with bad arthritis?

Identity politics has everyone at each others throats. Still the permanently 'offended' need rubbish like that to justify their lives.

Just because they shriek loudest they think folk give a toss.

What do you think about 'celebrities' telling folk how to vote etc? Personally i think it is great. Because when they are on the losing side they cry like big girls blouses.

How about those arseholes in london on bonfire night with the grenfell tower thing? The polis have went into overdrive. Virtue signalling i think it's called.

Youngsters in london are being stabbed with alarming regularity and the polis seem to be unable to do anything.

I think the public humiliation of said arseholes is punishment enough. The polis overkill is no needed.

So are you just about there for the driving thingy? How much has it cost you so far to get where you are?

There are plenty of things folk could retrain for but the cost puts it out of reach. Surely a speculate to accumulate should be in operation. Give citizens a helping hand to train then reap the benefit when they start working.

There was a story up here about 3 mates from falkirk (i think) who were made redundant. They looked and seen intensive courses for plumbing skills. They put their redundancy money and took bank loans and went down south on the course.

They passed with 3rd level nvq's. They came home and applied for work. There are no 3rd level nvq's in Scotland. They are not recognised.

And how a 6 week intensive course makes someone a tradesman i do not know. A 6 week course in painting and decorating up here which gets you a city and guilds certificate costs nearly £1,000.

Dreadful that someone took advantage and didn't advise them properly.

well government fees will come to around £400 alone, each exam is £111 and traineee licence is £140 (for 6 months!).

That's where I'm hoping to be end of Jan, licensed trainee which gives me the ability to train pupil for money so that should give me the experience to pass the final test by end of June. By nd of jan i will have gone through £3000 in training fees, government licences and travel hotel costs. Then I think a few hundred in franchse fees, getting the car liveried etc. Not a cheap option. BUT I'm happier than in years and enjoying life!

Ok so not really sure if this is the right thread but I`m sure I`ll be told if its wrong..

I was just wondering if anyone on here can remember how their first ever day on here went? I mean when they first ever found this place and joined up, how was it and how much in your own opinions do you think its changed?

I had a really good first day back in 2005, the site was pretty new over this side of the pond back then and it had nice people on...I`m not saying there arnt nice folk now but the nice numbers are dropping..By the way this is my own personal opinion..

Hope to hear from some of you soon,

Cheers,
Bryan

I can't even remember why I joined never mind the day. I'm still here because I spend so much time t the computer in the office and when there is nothing to do, or there are no customers, I pop in here and elsewhere. Helps to avoid the boredom.

On a different note, I went to listen to a fantastic band last night. They do mainly their own music, high octane rock n roll rockabilly whatever that is. In came a couple how I though I recognised. He looked like an aging rock start with long white hair (think Gandalf) and a slim attractive blond who I was sure I knew. No one else did. Then at home last night I had a light bulb moment so this morning checked in on Pof and there she is! Looking exactly like she did last night and as I imagined though the lights in the restaurant were not as kind as the camera!

Looks like that was just another scam. Unfortunately rules get changed becuse of these scammers, or should I say gives the government an excuse to change the rules. A lot of people used to resign from a compnay then threaten to sue them for something silly and take them to an industrial tribunal. It was cheaper to bung them £500 and many companies did. That allowed the Tories to start charging complainants for access and so many deserving cases now do not get heard.

I saw this headline on Pof "So been on here a while now and not met up with anyone! I have messaged over 20 men in my age group and not had 1 single reply!! someone please tell me where Im going wrong!!"

So I messaged her telling her what people are looking for in terms of photos and ages etc.

Of course she hasn't replied. Normal behaviour I guess but why do people criticise others when they behave the same themselves?

Hi there Chappy,

Thanks for noticing my newish picture.

Yes that's the bulk of my collection but there are about 30 more but couldn't get them all in the same shot.

I also thought that if I stood against a display unit it would help ladies to figure out how tall I was and how slim/thin I am so they can then decide wether to get in touch or not.

In other news I went to the POF night out venue last night 13/11/18 to pay my 50 pound damage deposit ready for the next POF social get together and they had a pub quiz, turns out they do this every Tuesday and it was good fun, so at least now I know what I`ll be doing Tuesday evenings and its only a 20 mins walk from my home..
