The older you get the list gets longer and stronger.
Jealousy
Rudeness
Neediness
Drugs

You say the list gets longer as you get older but the conundrum is that as you get older more and more of the good ones are taken. Then it gets to be like looking for a canola seed in a bin of wheat.

^^"...but the conundrum is that as you get older more and more of the good ones are taken. "

That leads to the question: Why haven't any of the good ones picked you instead?

I see a lot of ones that I agree with. I think the older we get the wiser we are to know what we won't tolerate or what isn't compatible. I used to give a guy a pass when he was clearly being insecure and I learned the hard way to run when you spot those signs early on.

In my younger years, I'd blink and be in another relationship, married, engaged, thereafter rinse, repeat. Now I value my peace, it's definitely priceless. I value my peace and recognize the importance of it now after many learned lessons. If that means that I don't encounter someone that I'm compatible with on the things that I value and that I need, I'm okay with that. I've made peace with being solo and being a lone dog woman.

Many dating situations and relationships are not based on quality now and most seem to be even more rushed - at least that's been my experience with many guys that I've encountered. They'll have a rushed timeline with no middle ground to let things progress during the natural course, so I get frustrated and tend to run in the other direction.

I have the same list as message 8. And the one about entering my house without signing in brought back some interesting memories of parties at someone's house during my university days. He had everyone sign in as a form of "insurance" against being reported to the authorities. The paddy wagon showed up a couple of times though so someone told (ALL the poor neighbours, I suspect). Just another example of why I am glad I had my younger years at a time when there weren't cell phones to record history :-).

Honestly? I don't tolerate obese women. It's 2018. There are ways to lose weight through exercise & healthy dieting. If I can't even stand to look at a girl, there will be no dates.

I also am not a fan of people who play games. I'd prefer a straight shooter over someone who says what you want to hear.

I wonder why you have a photo taken with other obese men? Is it to look so much better yourself? There is no need to include others in your shots. Also women are obese for many reasons and it is not always just fixed with diet and exercise. I get that you dont fancy them sexually. Same goes vice versa.

It's extremely rare obesity is down to a physical disorder, it is mostly taking too many calories in and not using them up.

It's definitely hard to lose weight though coz you've got into bad eating habits and feeling hungry isn't nice but starving the overly large body is the only way to lose weight as exercise bulks you up more as well as makes you more hungry.

Weight....sigh....my greatest battle and one which has become more concerning to me as I've started online dating.

This is a battle I've fought for ions. I eat healthy and nutritious food with a suitable caloric intake. I am physically active. Yet I'm technically obese because I am about 5'9 and am over 190 lbs (I'm 217 lbs). And if I can manage to get below 190 I will still be considered overweight until I get to 165. The only way I can possibly get down in weight is if I do a lot more intense exercise but as is, it's difficult enough fitting in a half hour each day to do what I do do. I have a degree in Human Ecology and have taken several university-level courses in Nutrition and I have experimented with different nutrition changes with little success. But in the 9 months that I've really been working at it I've lost 20 pounds (an average of 2.2 lbs a month). Its been a real struggle though and it frustrates me to no end when people say there's no excuse for being obese. Having kids really played a number on my body and I gain so easily.

This all being said, I have a problem dating an obese man too but it's because I enjoy doing physical activity. I love to swim and bike and hike and ski and play soccer. And the majority of obese men I've known eat lots of fast food and do very little physical activity. If I did meet an obese man who did like doing these things then I would definitely give him a chance..

Yup. And no matter how you swing it, whether I'm healthy or not, weight matters, especially when it comes to online dating. The poster above who said he would not go for an obese woman was just being honest. There's a lot of people who would not date anyone obese or overweight. Might not be fair but that's the way it is. I just hate how everyone says there's no excuse to be obese in this day and age with all our knowledge of diet and nutrition. Its like when a parent with well-behaved kids thinks you are a bad parent because your kids are bouncing off the wall--yes, discipline and upbringing are important but parents with a so-called wild child know their kid was born with that energy. Just like some people come with particular genes, metabolism and energy so even if they do all the right things when it comes to diet and exercise they will never be skinny if healthy.

Many are beginning to discount the BMI due to the fact it doesn't take into account the weight of bones. Search for news stories from the UK of kids classified as obese by the BMI yet the picture shows a normal child.

As for the rest of what you've posted, I agree completely especially the "no excuse crap"

The weight of bones

Sounds like the title of a Patricia Cornwell murder mystery~

I know who she is, although I’ve never read any of her stuff. I do remember a Stephen King novel from some years back, “Bag of Bones”. Not one of his better novels, though.

Back on topic,
“What are things that you no longer tolerate in regards to dating?”

Number one on my list would have to be:

1. Celibacy

I can tolerate insecurity and some level of racism as long as they don't want to actually kill a race.

I won't put up with any type of discrimination. That includes making fun of other people because their weight, religion, or sexual orientation.

The list gets longer, due to experience of what is good and what is bad in a partner, while our needs change. When we're young, we need a reason to get the hell out of our parents' house on a Friday night. When our biological clock ticks, we're looking for an employee in child-rearing we wouldn't mind having sex and sharing the rent with. But as we approach middle age, we're established materially. We don't need a partner to add to our material belongings, we need someone who won't take away our fun. And they better like all the things we like, otherwise what do we do on a date besides have sex?

Meanwhile, we may not longer be living in a crowded city but have our little paradise out in the suburbs. The old joke "men/women are like parking spaces--the good ones are taken, or they're handicapped, and you settle for where no one else wanted to park their ass." seems to ring true. I'm under no illusion as to why i'm single, and its not just b/c I don't want children--the type of woman who can give something to hang a condom on, isn't interested in watching that happen in front of her. At the risk of sour grapes, however, I know that what I lose in being alone, I gain in being alone. I meet many people who love their children...and would absolutely love a week away from them and their constant demands as well. sometimes, there just seems to be more quantity than quality available.

birds have hollow bones in order to fly, which means that superheros who fly...are really working against nature :)

celibacy may be tolerated only if they've been waiting for Mr. Right to come along and the fellow who tolerates it, thinks he's him :)

Sundress: same here, me too. I've come across a gamut of different guys since I've been down here - some with racist views, sexist mentalities (having issues with female bosses) and then one who would fat shame others. He was physically attractive, but repulsed me with the things he'd say about others.

LMAO@feirene!

Pig, you left being female off your list.

I'd say if they're insecure and of course liars. Liars covers a lot of things. Men that don't like animals.

I agree that some people might have a weight problem partly because of medical conditions or medications. However in general the biggest reasons for it are probably poor diet and not enough exercise. That being said, the reason(s) why someone is obese is not relevant for me in terms of dating. I am simply not attracted to that body type.

With people who are always badmouthing their ex, they don't realize how idiotic it makes them look, because if an ex is so horrible, why did they choose to have a relationship with the person, and even chose to get married and have kids with him/her?

One of thing about this I find interesting, is when someone is tearing down their ex, you know you’re getting one side of the story and STILL you side with the other person. You think, ‘He had to live with everything this blew up to be...I can just walk away.’

I think when we’re younger, we are more moved by social pressures and influenced by trends. I find this with men, guys I knew when they were single and now broken up. They’ll complain about the same things they found ‘sexy’ when they first met these women.
