wants to date or relationship?Page 3 of 3    (1, 2, 3)
Just speaking from my personal experience.
In 4 years of using OLD, the men who listed "Dating" as their intent?
Meant every syllable, nothing more.
Those I met who sought LTR?
I would say only half were in a hurry. The other half, simply wanted to become a couple...………….someday.

I value the straight up, plain and simple, "This is where I'm going. Hop on or get off".
I detest trying to figure "Him" out, or read his mind.

Not true that every one wants to date for a long term relationship, from the player to some one just looking for platonic companionship!

I was single for 8 years following my divorce. He was man #151 in approx. 4 years of using OLD.

I still say you should write a book.

Or at least a pamphlet.

Here's a title:

"An OLD Guide: How to Find Your Dream Mate in 4 Short Years and 150 Tossbacks"

There HAVE to be some interesting and entertaining first meet stories in there somewhere.

wants to date or relationship?

I have read comments on here that 'wants to date/nothing serious' is viewed as hookups or players. is this how it is perceived?
Not to me. I perceive it as the person wants to meet someone and just see where it goes. Nothing becomes serious until the people in the relationship decides it does, and like you said, that takes more than just a few dates. I don't take those "intents" that serious anyway. There are numerous people that don't even remember what they put as their "intent" unless you point it out to them.

I agree that it shouldn't be viewed as "hooking up", but I don't think it should be taken, by itself 100%, as just wants to meet and see where it goes. Unless one's focused on pen-paling forever before meeting -- doesn't pretty much everyone have that approach to it (nervousness aside)? After all, you're not going to be Serious right off the bat, even if being in a serious relationship is what you're emotionally chasing.

I think the site's aim for that category is what you want Down The Line. After you've met several times and get the ball rolling. What are you looking for, once the wheels are greased? Dating but nothing serious would indicate you want to continue dating, but, not wanting it to be serious for quite some time as your "ideal" scenario.
