Famous -Favorite Female Singers-Page 4 of 5    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Ronnie Spector

I just purchased 3 Ronettes albums recently (UK, Japanese and Italian copies).

I enjoy watching their performance clips and love the Wall of Sound.

I've been listening to Ketty Lester lately. I only knew her song "Love Letters", but I have expanded that playlist significantly. I have over 40 of her songs on a custom playlist on Spotify. I have purchased 2 of her albums on vinyl and 1 on CD.

Talk about gorgeous, classy, elegant, and feminine...

If you can catch former NYPD detective Eddie M for free, its fun b/c everyone knows the words and sings along. But sometimes it looks like this :)

Does it have to be only singers?
How about singer songwriters?
If so here are two women with incredible bodies of work.

Carole King
An incredible songwriter who became a singer.
Check her song list out here;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Songs_written_by_Carole_King

and

Laura Nyro, an amazing songwriter who never got her due in life.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Nyro

Her best songs were made famous by others...
Eli Coming - Three Dog Night
Wedding Bell Blues - Fifth Dimension
And When I Die - Blood Sweat and Tears
Stone Soul Picnic - Fifth Dimension
and the incredible
Stoney End - Barbara Streisand
but read the original lyrics.

Brilliant you are as you are Beautiful!
Were we closer One Fine Day I would do The Loco Motion right on over to your place for a Pleasant Valley Sunday.
Though I may not be able to love you always know You've Got A Friend.

Good point about Lana Del Ray--her prior work struck me as soulful, wistful and funereal--or maybe i'm getting old and retrospectral

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_1aF54DO60

(a perfect theme song for the movie Great Gatsby)

And for those who don't know her, perhaps the song that might have made her mainstream:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdrL3QxjyVw

(there's a dance version you may have heard instead, with a faster pace. But there's a lady at a minute 39 and again at 2:20 in this video, who reminds me of someone I used to work with--same smile, too. Boy, did men follow her around like puppy dogs. She was a modern Stupifyin' Jones)

Lana Del Rey should be picked to sing a James Bond movie theme song. Chris Cornell, Adele, and Jack White all did good jobs with it.

I always liked hearing Shirley Bassie singing the theme from the James Bond movie "Goldfinger". Great set of pipes on that Lady.
