The Rangers Fans like the Yankee Fans, teams spend all that dough and you expect them to win it all every year,p.s:why is there a salary cap now Rangers are always a bonafide contender and as long as Broduer's in New Jersey

^ Don't bet your panties on it, musicnut. The Oil will be back.

@ Grog: Yup, they have the number one ranked powerplay and are 2nd overall for the penalty kill...and I think they're 12 games over .500.

^ I know. Did you watch the Ducks/Stars game last night. The call they made on Niedemeyer with a few minutes left in the game was WEAK!! Looks like they were just trying to even things up. I do, however, like a lot of things about the new NHL. I've been hearing a lot of talk about widening the goal because they want to increase scoring. Modern goaltenders have whopping save percentages in the 90% range or higher and they think this is a reason to increase the size of the goal. What do you guys think about that?

@ smack: Is this season more or less retarded than last year? I think two or three points seperates the top of the division from the bottom. Looks like it will be a dead heat towards the end of the year on who will finish first.

"ooh...the good old hockey game" Two legimate "contenders" The refs are working on commision now The teams that adjust to the new rules better will do better That's why Major-junoir takes a break for the world junoirs The NHL does in Olympic years too How about those "Penquins" "Seattle Penquins":

I think the rink in seattle's too small...but they and portland tried that years ago,Rinks only seat about 14,000,The trend tends to be be Major /Junoir and N.H.L. teams in Larger Canadian markets (heck even playing-out of the same rink in Calgary)and minor-pro and/ or college teams in the Larger U.S markets ,hence where teams might be added or move to I think the Canucks would move down there before they let an eastern team move thereThe Goalies are just better than the shooters Not as long as there's "separtists"n quebec As for where and why the Pens might go,Lemeuix say's they're not for sale, kinda answers if they're moving,The U.S market is kinda saturated,so if they do move down there, somebody else has to move somewhere too

Rangers lost AGAIN... 3-2 to the Panthers..... WTF??? Ok, most of the team has the flu, but still WTF!!!!!!!

As for the Pens, all I care about is getting them out of the Atlantic Division and far away from my Rangers..... One day they are going to rock the NHL and don't want the rangers playing them (and losing to them) 8 times a year.......

the W.H.L used the formula a few years back,Top eight teams in each "conference" made the play-offs,but turned-out no teams east of Calgary or south of the border would of made the play-offs,so it got dropped Hey we don't see half the other disivion teams in the w.h.l or they only come here or we only go there The Guys on "off the record" got it right,it's about n.h.l teams making money

I've been away for a few days, but it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who thinks increasing the goal size is a retarded idea. The purpose of the new NHL was to increase goal scoring and as smack said, I believe that teams have adjusted to it. Forwards are learning to play two-way hockey much better. The players have learned not to instinctively clutch or hold or hook or flatten players in front of the net unless it's absolutely necessary. It's all about clogging up the shooting lanes and passing lanes.

Anyhow, I was watching some of the games the other day at a local bar with a Flames fan and a Wings fan. We may have disagreed on some things, but we were all pretty disgusted by Nichol's sucker punch on Spacek. Nice to see the NHL slap him with those many games.

Interesting how when a league isn't pulling in the same revenue as the other three, that everything is open to debate and change. The league is willing to pimp itself out to anyone in order to sell tickets, rather than being true to itself. This fact alone probably accounts for the diminished interest in a lot of markets.

One thing I really like about the other pro sports is the stability. They don't change things on a whim, and they don't change rules to try and create more fans. They tweak things to please existing fans.

I've already heard the NHL float the idea of going back to four divisions. That would mean the traditional "top 4" divisional playoff format which I think is great. But why now? Why was it abandoned in the first place? More than likely it was due to expansion. The divisions got to be too large.

The only constant in the NHL is constant changing of the league and the rules.

And that's exactly why the Cup's going where and will keep going where it has been going I'm all for a separate Canadian and american pro-hockey league and only canadians can play here and americans there, even if it means the europeans having to get citizen in one country or the other The other two are basically "yankee" leagues The old format was dropped so teams from all over the league had an even chance of making the play-offs The N.H.L has Europeans playing so has to adapt due to that "influence"

Should be a good home and home series between the Flames and Nucks. Anyone else PPV'ing it tonight? Can't believe how much the standings have changed in the NW division over the last few days. If the Nucks were somehow to win the next two games - highly unlikely - and the Avs, Oilers and Wild lose their next games, the Nucks could be on top of the division for the first time this year...very briefly though since everyone else has games in hand.

Gotta love a divisional race where one loss or one win can mean the difference between being in first overall or right at the bottom...hehe..just ask the Canucks. Kinda surprised that the Nucks didn't respond to Bingo Bango Luongo being run a few times.

correct me if I'm not wrong but is not florida where keenan went after coaching the rangers to the cup ?Think a goalie would get a penalty for bustin his big ole stick over a players head? How about a a goofy sports thread i:e "dancing football players" in the endzone after getting a touchdown or basketball players missing the basket and drilling a fan in the face with the ball and there's always the baseballs that get lost Send hasek to a california team:he might wind-up becoming governor

I remember when Brian Burke was fired in Vancouver I hoped the rangers would finally fire Sather and bring Burke in.... BUT NO!!!!! LOL.... He is awesome.....

WOW, the rangers ended their 7 game slide tonight with a nice win over the caps.... Shanny even dropped the gloves when he got sick and tired of seeing Brashear pushing around Jagr.... Shanny held up pretty well against that beast from the east.... LOL.....
