I prefer to READ what is on their minds and not look at a pic of someone that is supposed to be 48 but looks 30?..I put a pic up on a paid site and ended up with a stalker ..pastes my face on a naked porn shot and sends them to me and other sites..so I chose to keep this from happening again..if and when someone is interested..a meeting will be preferred and that way there is no surprises..but then again..not really looking..the forums are interesting..

Recently started receiving messages from some guy. Initial pic didn't even remotely resemble any of the others. And HE got mad at ME because I said, "Since your two pics have no resemblance to each other what so ever, I wouldn't have a clue who to look for." Delete, Block.

I suggest in the future that you ask to see them in realtime on their webcam and if they're too cheap to have one, then maybe you should move on.

Although I agree with yopu and it is good to be open and honest with your pics, I think personally that it is attiudes like that that make some people that do this alittle cautious to and it may make them uneasy to post their pics up for fear of ridicule.

For offense to you ,but i just feel that many people that post fake pics have had to deal with this stuff in the past.

I didn't read all the responses to this question, so forgive me if I repeat something already said. But beware of people who you find out or suspect of having a fake photo. Many men post fake photos of really good looking guys to draw you in and then try to scam you for money with sob stories. It often involves Africa---Nigeria especially. I wouldn't be surprised to find out this happens to guys too. I have profiles on several sites and there are certain mens pics you will see on every site. And although it will be the same pic of the same guy, each time the name , the profile, everything about him will be different because it's a fake profile. Beware everyone!

Good topic! I've seen profiles where women have posted pictures of porn stars! I wont even bother responding to those. Look, honesty is the best policy. If you are really serious about meeting some-one online you will eventually have to meet face to face.If you post phony pics you all but destroy any chances of meeting some-one.

I only really know of one person who sent me a fake picture of her cousin, infact she started chatting because she was bored and did it initially just to amuse herself...

Apparently she found me interesting and liked chatting to me so ofcourse she had to keep up the lies. A month later she told me she worked at a pub on a MASSIVE main road. Un-beknown to her it was the ONLY pub on this long road.

Long story short... I caught her out, and as it happens a few months later went out with her VERY attractive best friend :|

So wasn't a total loss I guess.

hmmm... jumpin in here a little late .. however .. on the topic of "fake pics" .. i have pics on my profile of mermaids .. they are "obvious" fakes! .. if and when i feel like it .. after a few emails .. whatever ... i will send my real pics ... otherwise ... no frikkin way! .. had my real pics on before .. wow ... the nice guys were shy and the vultures .. WOW .. omg ..
anyway .. it takes all kinds ... and some people are just in here to collect fans ... pics .. whatever ... i am not here to provide that service ! .. i am here for myself .. like most .. i am here to find that special someone .. and MY mr. right wont be all messed up with external illusions ..
lots of people have lots of reasons for using other pics or no pics ... not right or wrong necessarily .. however ... if you send a pic thats 20 years old and dont say so .. well then thats just dishonest and for me .. honesty is my # 1 quality and prerequisite ... so that would be a deal breaker .. not based on "looks" .. based on "TRUTH" ... what a concept!

hey newandreadyforu .. i just had to come back in and tell ya .. every time i see a man holding a baby .. or a woman for that matter (thought i dont generally look at womens pics) .. but Everytime i see someone with a child in their pic .. i think .. Did you ask that baby if it was ok to advertise them on the WORLDWIDE PERVERTS R US NET? .. well seriously .. every day we hear about the 10's of thousands of pedophiles that use the net to scout for victims .. anyway .. just something to think about .. and you could just tell (us) you have a baby .. grandchild .. whatever .. i know if it was me .. i wouldn't appreciate turning 13 or 14 and hearing that me granddad sent my baby pics all over the world for god knows who to ogle!... its a sick world .. we gotta protect the kids ..
sorry for the serious .. ok .. no i'm not .. i had to ..

so rather than just not posting pics until you get suitable ones .. your ego is demanding that you use your baby on the net then huh? .. wow.. i'd call your son if i was you. ... i'd hate for you to have to learn a serious lesson like this one first hand .. and i'm not trying to bash you .. i really am concerned about the pics of children that are so unwisely used and often with little regard for the childs safety .. i'm thinking you'd be better off with no pics than those of potential victims. ... Why shouldn't you post pics of your life? If your grandchild is your pride and joy, why not display that? You are not telling the world his address or how to find him, only sharing the beauty of the child that you love as a way of saying, this child is so important in my life that if you are interested in being my mate you will need to understand that this child is part of me. How would the child be in danger? It is merely a picture....ubsurd, but, that's my oppinion.

It makes me laugh so hard when these lads put up these photos of models and then claim to be them. It's one thing to have a modeling photo along with some "norma" photos of yourself with friends and what not, it's another to just have these modeling photos.

Which then weeks later you see being used in an ad for something or another.

i think for some ppl that put fake pics they either lack self confidence of what they look like rather than thinking that their attitude and inner beauty matters most. I know all my pics are recent & I am proud to say that I dont like ppl that do that its like Head Games/Mind Games making another person think that is what u look like & would be disappointed to see what u really look like outside the box.....

Well, I gotta' put my 2 cents in about FAKE pics.....Thoes people are just playing around..I dont think They really want to Date....BUT, remember,"PHOTOS DO NOT TELL WHAT A PERSON REALLY LOOKS LIKE" You could look better,or you could look worse in person..ONLY ,FACE TO FACE TELLS THE TRUTH..But i dont think we should go by what people look like anyway(ITS ALL ABOUT) Physical attraction, compatibility, etc etc....

I am growing weary of it.

Have an extreme un-makeover (especially the teeth) and post those pictures. Voila, problem solved.

The poseurs are living out a fantasy of being beautiful and attracting someone beautiful. Unfortunately at your expense. Wish them the best, that they will find someone doing the same thing and live happily ever after (as long as they don't meet in person).

Going WAAYY back(6 pages) to the original post, in that particular situation it may well have been college kids messing around. I'm told it's a fairly common practice for a few dorm or class mates to get together and create a fake female profile, apparently just for laughs! In fact I've been asked more than once if I'M 'for real' because my profile is ,well, sorta out in left field I guess LOL(that's how I heard about the college kid game) Now that so many of the other sites have gotten so money hungry, I would not be surprised to see the pranksters start turning up on the free sites.
As for kids pictures, a couple of the so-called "better" sites would not allow me to post a picture of MYSELF( "My First Wheels")Good grief the picture is over 50 yrs old. But yeah, I can understand that some webmasters might be opposed to having kids' pictures on a dating site, for a couple of reasons. It might pay to give some careful thought before you post a picture with your kid(s) or grandkid(s) if they are not over 18. Just offering that as food for thought.

Oh man, my personal favourite is when they post like their high school glory days pics when they were on the football team, now the guy is 46 !!! Or, pics back in the day when they had hair and teeth! I dont understand why people do that, if your on here to meet someone, posting a deceiving pic is only going to result in your potential date feeling pretty let down when they finally do meet you.

If people wouldn’t so shallow and so into physical appearance only, no one would feel the need to do this. Remember that for those less fortunate, it’s using a fake pic in order to initiate initial contact and hope that their personality will be good enough not to get dumped like a piece of crap or simple never get to talk to anyone at all. Sad isn’t it?

I have had this experience numerous times. In fact, I actually went to meet a man that claimed that he hated dishonesty, and he had given me a picture of his younger, much better looking brother! One would think that he would have told me before I met him! And I actually had other men take pictures of body builders and say it was them, lol. I guess some guys are not secure with who they are; that's all I can say.

I agree with you. Many guys have sent me pics of themselves when they were much younger. When I meet them it is a real disappointment.
