I won't ever go on another pay site. I think that it's ridicoulus to pay sites just to have an Internet date. This is why I asked for many contacts of mine to help me find a girlfriend.

EHarm(ony)doesn't even allow you to see pics of any members unless you pay!***holes..
As for Match.com,I would never join.Well, one reason being is the thought of putting money into "Dr"Phils pockets makes me want to vomit.
Of course,I don't have anything good to say about POF either..

I had a profile on American Singles. My inbox was flooded by messages from women that were supposedly interested in me.B.S.
I did find 1 woman several miles from me that I was very interested in.I Google searched her AS username and managed to track her down.We exchanged emails for a while and I was really hoping to meet her.I should have known better than to get my hopes up.A month or so later, she sent me an email saying that she was now living in Oklahoma.
I was heartbroken for a day or two.

So,i do NOT reccomend American Singles.I have no idea what they do with ones credit card info.

I would stay with this site or meet Christians or OK Cupid rather than the pay sites. I even us myspace. I am on that site for everything.

There were people successful with match.com. I don't think that anyone is successful with the dating services that cost money these days. I think that most people computer dating are in community chats rather than dating services.

I joined RSVP in Australia, three years ago. I've had a fair number of genuine enquiries in that time, and that is a site where one pays for the privilege.

Others, like Adult Friend Finder, for instance, well ..... I've been convinced it's a scam. A bait email will arrive, a bit of to-and-fro, then nothing.

As for POF, my experience is that it's been pretty genuine, with some good people here, so hang in there!

Those people should than be arrested. Those pay sites should be shut down as of distrust on new people to take them over.

Has anyone ever reported match.com, eharmony or yahoo personals to the Internet Crime Complaint Center? I heard that people reported true.com to them. Even the Texas attorney general and better business bearau.

We should even report adult friend finder and fling.

problem with Match.com
Posted: 3/6/2008 10:07:23 AM

most of the women on Match are nonpaying members. They are just fishing for attention (free of charge) and are not sincere. They can receive messages but cannot respond to your message even if they wanted to.
I have to disagree; it's possible the women realized it was not working for them so they gave it up, hence no response. It doesn't mean they are insincere or just fishing for attention.

Why would anybody do that? The whole point of getting attention from someone else is for that someone to KNOW the attention is received, but as in this case the women can't reply, how is the man to know that? .. so he then concludes she must be just out for the chance to think "hey, that guy's hot, but I CAN'T ANSWER HIM!!!"

Ease off the chipped shoulder, Luv.

I used it once last January and found it to be a scam, talked to one person on there and it turns out she was from Nigeria and wanted me to send money to her.

I got engaged two days ago to someone I met on Match.com. My grandmother is living with a man she met on Match.com. It's a good site and it obviously does work if you're willing to put in the time and energy. I met FIFTEEN men from a few different dating sites. Fourteen of them were losers. One was great and I am engaged to him. He lives ten minutes away from me, goes to school down the street from my job, and I love him immensely.

So, it costs money. The 150 dollars I paid for six months of Match.com was worth it. Look at it like this: I spent 150 dollars and got a husband. I think I got the better end of the deal.

There have been a bunch of dating specialists on match.com. I lost trust in match.com. I will come back to it if they get thier act together and straighten up.

Have any of you heard of Dawn Yanek? I am not sure whether or not she's trustable. She's pretty. She doesn't work for match.com but just associated with them and did a commercial.

I have had no issues with pay sites, you just have to be smarter than they are. I prefer the pay sites for meeting ladies. There are more women to choose from because most of the men won't spend the money required to sign up. I have not had a no show yet.
5-40$ is nothing to spend when it comes attached with a nice lady at the other end.

I haven't had much issues with pay sites. Sending winks on match.com doesn't get paying but true.com does.

I heard allot about true.com with the billing. I don't think that match.com or yahoo personals are as guilty as true.com. The site should be called false.com and true.com was always a pay site while yahoo personals and match.com started out free.

I don't have much problems with pay sites but I gave them up from what I read about complaints and about them on those message boards.

Maybe I will go back to match.com and yahoo personals.

Also on match.com and yahoo personals we could forward profiles to friends like anyone who we want to. I wouldn't even go onto eharmony if we have to pay just to see the photos. I think that it's silly to.

I never even tried perfect match and I don't ever want to get married. I am just looking for long term and short term dating.

I haven't seen a paysite YET that delivers AS PROMISED.

POF is FREE, and the ONLY thing they promise is an OPEN communication channel to other singles. Honestly, how can ANYONE realistically promise anything ELSE?

I have had my FILL of pay sites. I haven't seen one YET that delivers. I have met only a FEW singles here on POF, but then I don't initiate many contacts. Most of the ones that I have initiated resulted in friendly replies, although as yet I have failed to meet "My Fishie".

Then also, I have seen my fair share of "Unread/Deleted" and "Read/Deleted" messages. But to me, when I see one of those, that is just as good as an uninterested reply. I have read many complaints about these, but TRUTHFULLY, does ANYONE REALLY CARE about why they are not interested? I certainly don't. The only ones I care about are those INTERESTED parties who CHOOSE to respond. Those who express interest are GENUINE!! They may balk later on, but at LEAST I got a "nibble" from a real "fishie".

When I finally catch one, she will be a real "Keeper"!

You got lucky, and more power to you because of it. I got burned and won't go back. It is all a matter of perception, anticipation, and satisfaction.

Suffice it to say I was NOT satisfied. But then, my requirements are a bit more than they can deal with, so I got as I expected.

I got one "ALMOST" here at POF. The prohibiting factor in this case was DISTANCE. I truly believe that if she lived CLOSER to me, things would have turned out better between us.

For what we lacked between us, I blame the DISTANCE.

To the person that asked about singles net. Its a rip off to. I did talk to some real women that were in my area but I got tons of emails from scammers from russia and affrica. Now that may not be the web sites fault but I do wonder how I get so many scammers emailing me from a pay site and yet pof is free and haven't heard from one scammer.

My experience was not bad, just not that good. I got a lot of responses, especially when I first signed up. I think the folks that were on immediately jumped on a new profile. The guys I met were not very interesting, though, and half were lying about their age, claiming they were younger than they were. After six months, I dropped it. I figure that on the free sites I have nothing to lose. Perhaps I've gotten better at figuring this out, but the guys I'm meeting are of a better quality.

I have met and dates men from paid sites but I have also had numbers in the 'viewed you' file and when I looked there was nothing there. That was while on a paid subscription. Match will not let you remove your profile. You can hide it, but not remove it.

I think what is needed is a law requiring them to only show those people who can
actually respond to a message with another message. If this means they need to
let the ladies in for free, fine by me, but I have no interest paying for a site that
would require the person to pay to respond.

Advertising someone as a member when they have no real connection to site seems
like fraud to me.

Yes they are big time. If something is too good to be true then i dont think its true. There are various e-mail/screen scanning programs out there that on-line dating sites use. I work in I.T i have seen these programs. I had to program a dating website (proto-type) as part of a uni assignment which was quite funny looking back at it now. Also some of the pictures of people on websites are fake and false. They are professionally done and modified through computer graphics software. End of the day though they are a business and profits drive them not the pursit of helping people find love. Its a corporation behind these sites that use psychological tactics to lure people to pay. In other words they pray on people's emtions. Hmm another term for that is called "Marketing". Rockect science at its best lol.

Just my 2 cents worth (Australian cents which is about 1.9 american cents i believe at this stage of the market).

I don't know about it being a scam, but they are the worst dating website I've ever used and I even paid for a year. Their search capabilities are laughable. You can only search by zipcode and the radius you put in is going to ignored by the system. You say 75 miles, you'll see results from up to 300 miles away. You can't search by anything else, but zipcode. No searching by smoker or non-smoker, drinker or non-drinker, photo or no-photo. You can't even specify an age range.

Also, their email system is the pits. They say that emails are held for thirty days. Yeah, right. Try three days if you're lucky. I've had emails disappear out of my mailbox within a day or two of receiving them.

And singlesnet.com seems to be a hotbed for all those lovely 26-year-old beauties from Nigeria that are just aching to spend the rest of their lives with you. All it will cost is a few hundred dollars for her sick mom, who just went into the hospital for an operation, or to pay the rent because the landlord is about to evict her and her "mum", or quite a few other scams.

I won't ever go back there. So, if you've seen my profile there and it says I've been on "within the last 3 days" don't believe it.

Try CyclingSingles.com. They don't even put that kind of notice on profiles and I haven't seen a new female profile in months. The one or two ladies on that site in my area haven't been on in months. No way I'm going to pay for a membership on a site like that

There is one for dancers also, but I did not find a partner there. They are rated by experience. I am a latin, ballroom, country, swing dancer and can't seem to find a partner on any of the sites. Guys, learn to dance, most women everywhere want a man who will dance. I hike, ride my bike and dance and nothing around here, not even an activity partner on the majority of the sites I checked.
