I hate seeing a lot of makeup on a woman, just like I hate when women wear pushup bras. It's called false advertisement. A woman looks better to me without the makeup anyway, for the same reason a woman with no tats looks better to me. I find a woman's skin to be more attractive than makeup or ink. A little makeup is absolutely fine, and can compliment the woman. A few tats are fine as well. Too far with either, and it's a huge turn off for me.

ok, i only looked at a handful of posts, but notice most the men are saying little to no make-up is better, and the women are encouraging the make-up more-so than the men. despite what many younger women think, men do not particularly like make-up.

though make-up can accentuate certain things about a woman, it all depends on the color and shade, what needs to be accentuated to increase attraction, and what could adversely affect it. some women inadvertently make themselves far less attractive by accentuating things they like about themselves, but isn't necessarily physically appealing to the opposite sex.

the other concern of cosmetics is the effect it can have on ones complexion and that they can inadvertently make themselves dependent on it (ex cover-up clogging pores even worse, increasing the need all the more). though the higher quality stuff usually isn't as much of a concern, not everyone does their research and it becomes a problem at times.

a key rule of thumb to keep in mind is "less is better". it's the rule most professionals in the make-up industry stand by. for the majority of women, men will find you more appealing that way.

I agree with this. Tattoo's are a huge no no in my books.

Plus, if she looks good with no make up then why bury herself in make up?


And what if her tatoos were make up, such as eyebrow or eyeliner!

I've seen it, if done properly it's subtle and effective.... always done up!

like a little gravy on mashed potatos, like a little garlic on chicken, like a dab of perfume behind the ear, makeup should be used to ENHANCE NOT COVER UP OR OVERWHELM.

what's really funny is when i see a woman who is naturally very beautiful trowel on the covergirl and the maybelline in an effort to become even more beautiful.

example....

Kim Kardashian

she does not trowel it on but there's more than she needs there and you can tell that she'd look great without half that much.

don't care for au natural. a sensible amount. if you have acne or blemishes too much makeup can draw attention to your problem, perhaps even deepen the problem.

never worn make up, never will. unless someone can give me a good reason....like future studies show not wearing makeup causes cancerous tumours on the face. Then I would.
But so far, not a single reasonable, or logical, argument can be made to me.

Au naturel here as well. I find some women who don't wear makeup incredibly sexy. I displays their true beauty and confidence.

Plus... the question was a LOT of makeup vs a little....not none!

Most guys prefer a natural LOOKING makeup job vs a paint by number tart!

Because women tend not to believe men and instead believe what other women tell them. The industry survives on insecurity and they have even made vast expansions into the male market as well. You suck, here, look like this and you won’t! All over this thread men have said what they like and many refuse to hear it. Why?

I like enhancements, not cracks when you smile. I like something that catches the eye, not obscures the person. And I don’t know about anyone else, but I like the little defects we all carry, they show our uniqueness and the airbrush industry has done nothing but create plastic people.

Yup, I tell my girlfriend that I like her just fine with little/no makeup and dressed regularly, not fancy.
She says straight up that I'm not telling her the truth! She believes her gay friend and girlfriends over me.

In a bar or club for most men,.....perhaps, but I'll still stick with option #2) with option #4) a close second.

Option number #1) would still look ridicules in a grocery store.

Option #5) looks ridicules every where and yet every where I look, I see way too many option #5's!

~OT~ My exhusband had a thing for "less is more" when it came to make-up. And then he met the other woman. I was a tad stunned when I talked to her up close and personal for the first time. She was all sorts of Spackle-d up. Guess it just goes to show: preferences change and what she offered in other ways apparently mattered more than the fact she truly did wear entirely too much make-up. To each their own.

I like to play with vivid or dramatic colors when i go out at night. I dont go out at night a lot so when i do i go all out glamour-puss.
During the day i usually just wear some earth toned shadow and light lipstick or colored chapstick.
I guess if you have really bad skin or dont like the way you look or are insecure about aging you could paint it on all the time...it doesnt really make anyone look prettier or younger though.
Some women end up looking like drag queens.
Preferences vary.......some men love it and some hate it.

and the funny part about it is that women don't realize that other women are not trying to help them but to hinder them.

their girlfriends and hairdresser tell them to chop off their hair and when they do they usually become LESS attractive as most men (according to the forum on women with long hair) love long hair much better than short hair.

I lived in Europe for 2 years after having graduated from college. The college I went to, all the girls were very girly- Betty Bowhead types. Cute as buttons, etc.

Yet when I was in Europe- most of the women wore far less make up than my school girls. It was a bit noticeable in the beginning, but then I forgot about it. The women were still plenty hot and attractive.

When I returned from Europe- I was out and about on the hunt and it was immediately strikingly noticeable just HOW MUCH makeup most American women wear.

I was actually turned off by it all. Looked like they were preparing for a pow wow or something. War Paint and all.

Since, I have only dated women who are darker complected and have more natural color in their skin. Most of these women have been from other countries as well. Therefore most have only worn make up for the reason it SHOULD BE.

that is- only as an enhancement.

an enhancement to their own natural color and to the outfit they are choosing to wear that night.


I just dont' do war paint girls any longer. Its just not sexy.

I hear you bro. Its SHOCKINGLY bad just how much makeup women are wearing out there.

Ladies....can we please PLEASE tone down the god damn foundation on your faces too? If I can SEE the white foundation on your skin, YOU'RE WEARING TOO MUCH.


Im sorry but most ladies wear their makeup all wrong, and it looks absolutely awful.


I prefer a woman without makeup, or very little makeup solely meant to enhance what they have. Ive seen far too many ladies literally covering up their faces with caked on nonsense. No good!

There are two reasons why I highly prefer the natural look (no makeup at all). First, it is much more confident and sexy to present yourself as you are. Second it eliminates a lot of time, fidgeting, and money wasted. My wife only wore makeup once in 17 years--for a Halloween party. That says it all.
