Odd a Canadian would note us as facist when the cycle has us turning left, not right. Who did you people just elect?

Americans are no more Fascists than Canadians are, and if that has become the Description of the current US Politics & its President, I'd take that as nothing other than a Protest and a possible Desire for Change. PR flogging & Labeling during Elections usually goes a little overboard.

But I'll tell you this: I would not want your current political Line up of Candidates running our Economy or managing our Country. Its the worst & most sordid Lot in US History.

Politics aside, the American and Canadian People are pretty well much the same. I could not tell if I had an American among us, nor was anyone ever able to tell I was Canadian when in the US. Just a Line along the 49th ...

Oh, I would move for the right man, but not until we both visit each other's cities a few times first...assuming I am meeting him on here.

My daughter is grown, I would probably have better job opportunities elsewhere, but my job is one I can do anywhere. The man would have to be one helluva special person to get me to pack up and move for him, tho.

There are very few places i would move to in the states, i love the states, been all over them, very beautiful country, nice people,but there are too many social problems
but for the right person i guess i would
i really love new york city,it has its very own culture, and main is really something, so are the smokey's
fears, health care, an undemocratic political system,racism, gun crimes.....

ok, i have lived in the states, LA,, and grew up across the river from Detroit, Windsor with a metro area of 450 th, has seen one police death, one since 1850
Detroit which is about a third the size of Toronto has more then 1000 gun related deaths, TO, 50 to 100 a year 'this is not a subtle cultural difference'.
We do not have a military presence in over 180 different countries in the world
We do take an active role in the world, while the US was still selling Hitler, munitions Canadian soldiers where in the thick of fighting
We where the first country to bring into being 'peace keeping' and have had an outstanding record in the world
We live up to our NATO obligations, we have been fighting and dieing in Afghanistan, our first casualties, were from American planes .
We are very far from being perfect, we are a country that has systematically turned its back on native affairs, aparthide was in fact based legally on the CDN, example
As far as being socialist, we are very very far from that,we belong to the developed countries of the world,all of them have housing, education, health care, no death penalty and so on....we are far less unionized, or socialistic then most EU countries
there are many many major cultural differences between our two countries
lol My aunt Clara would come over to visit us several times a week, she had a side arm in her glove compartment, and one in her bag, we never once locked our door

hi single dad in florida i think their is really no place like home, even though our cultures are errily simular i think my decision to live at home would be motivated politicaly.

Metropolitan Detroit is slightly larger than Metropolitan Toronto, although the Core City is better than a Third of the Size. Just a different Distribution.

Post #891, I have stood shoulder to shoulder with Canadian service men. And I respect and am honored to have met and known them. As a US solder, I respect Canada as a neighbor and those men and women who have put themselves in harms way for love of country, even if not speciffically supporting a given conflict.

If I would obtain a similiar paying job in Canada & met a wonderful Canadian guy, I'd be back to Canada in an instant!! No Question about that! There would be no fear, I'm Canadian & I know what to love & expect!

Racer71, you are very misinformed about health care in Canada. Very. I have lived in both places. It is way more expensive for health care in the U.S. You are very wrong about the quality of health care in Canada. My brother happens to be a Gastroenterologist. Canadians are better educated in their Universities. You actually have to have a very high GPA to get admittance into a Canadian University. There are quotas. To get into Sciences, you have to have a minimum of 86%, based on that particular year. Here in the U.S., you can buy a degree with a C average! The quality of education is no comparison to the education in Canada! Here, the majority of students can't pass the state exams! In Edmonton Catholic Schools, 75% of students are above proficiency levels!!!When I left Canada, I was paying $33 for 3 months of health care. University students have free health care & back then, anyone who made under $10,000. Canada takes care of their people. Unlike the U.S. who dump the poor on the streets of L.A. who don't have health care insurance. People here go into major debt if they get really sick. Watch "Sicko" by Michael Moore. I had a health insurance card that I would give to the pharmacist to receive prescription drugs. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CO-PAY in Canada nor do we have to pay to use the Emergency in hospitals. We also can go to ANY doctor & ANY hospital that we choose!! No such thing in the U.S.! You need to check out your facts & research before spewing non-facts about Canada!

i like canada its people diversity and the fact that most problems that canadians complain about are actually quit trivial compareded to many other nations around the globe it has been rated as a top nation to live in by the united nations for several years. though ccanadians and americans share simularities canadians differ greatly when it comes to political social responsibilities than the states; we are often bombarded with u.s media such as cnn, fox, nbc, spokan news, tbs, etc more so than our own news so u.s politics sort of overshadow our own for instance the campaighns for obama. had more coverage than our recent election for stephan harper. so i think canadians cant help but get offended by some policies in the states and i think may share some of the same grievences as many other nations about some foreign policies.made in the last eight or so years however politics aside i feel amaricans come off as average ordinary people who are making it in the world the best they can and based on the few i had met maybe their is a bit to much demonization of u.s citizens
