It's a turn-on for me, but that type of women tends to be trouble. ...at least the ones that are deliberately conspicuous about it are.

Hmmmmm, yes I think you are talking about those that seem to be shouting "Hey, look at me, I'm a tomboy"....I would agree that those may not be. That is the beauty of knowing a gal for some time before you get involved with them romantically. You know what they stand for and where they stand, as well.

this is a question mainly for the men out there.

Do you find it a sexy or intimidating when women do things that would be thought of as mainly a guys thing? for example: She is under the hood of her car fixing it, or she is out 4X4ing in HER truck or jeep, or Jumping a dirt bike in a motor X rally, or simply fixing things like the pluming in the house? Tom Boys?
Sorry about the spelling....lol
================
The TOM BOY would be placed highly in my book.
This means the woman must be regarded as an equal.
A very wonderful thing in a potential marriage.
Some men, me in particular, would not like to have a damsel in distress, as
a life partner, but an equal partner who would complete me
(compliment in a yin-yang sense).

What is the TOM BOY:
Some one who I can seriously ask important questions and get direct answers.
Someone who can be very honest and straightforward,no beating around the bushes
(as long as they beat up, satirically speaking, on Geo W. Bush, then thats ok).
Someone who can be willing to provide a helping hand with mechanical/tech stuff.
(good conversation builder) This builds strong comradrie.
These gals can be the excellent proverbial "partner in crime".
They have the pioneering quality. This quality was reflected in:
Elanor Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Joan of Arc., etc.
Generally see injustice and make a stand to make things right
(very endearing quality).
The svengali in a relationship: provide feedback and cues that prevents
the significant other from erring.
They have this empathy and know when you are feeling good or bad inside
(and lift you up when you are feeling down).
These gals, generally are very entertaining, FUN, and tend to be witty.

I do not mind the woman having a leadership like trait.
It means they can take on the BIG BOYS and win!
The men who date (and marry) these gals are generally VERY secure (mentally/psychologically/sprititually speaking) in themselves.

Some of the women I date are TOM BOYS and I naturally gravitate to them.

To all you TOM BOYS...
Hail to the QUEEN!!
Hail to all you piratesses!!

By the way, DIAMONDCND, in your photo profile, which one are ya, if you do not mind?

hmm.
A tom boy...
who loves to climb trees,
wrestle with the best of them,
runs through the woods barefoot
Fishing & bonfires...

hmmmm, major turn on!

For some reason, I love the "ROSIE THE RIVETER" types.....

Sddude.

U just said something I never realized. I never looked at it that way. Never even thought about it. Heh, but u're right. Why can't men talk about fashion or whatever. I just personally never came across a male who talks about stuff that woman do. Not that I talk about fashion, I couldn't care less, I more go shopping than talk about it, but I see ur point. I actually like that. I think I could make a great connection with a guy who talks about woman stuff just as much as I can talk about guy stuff cause I do.
============================
Can it be that SOME people are in touch with their other internal side?
Let me explain?

Men who are in touch with the "feminine" aspect/side.
Women who are in touch with their "masculine" aspect/side.

Some people say the Supreme Being is described as such:
Having masculine and feminine aspect, is both GOD/GODDESS,
Is Harmony.
Adonai: Masculine aspect
Shekinah: feminine aspect

Some women become as a Joan of Arc.
Some men having a "maternal" side.

Really makes you think?

Food for thought.....

LOL! You are a genius! I LOVE your definition of a tomboy. It is incredible and I'm going to steal it. I fix computers for a living and I get the strangest looks. Especially when my nails are done and I wear 'pink'. When I get asked whether or not I'm worried about my nails I say they make great screw drivers, tweezers and jumper pullers. But I swear when I fix something of theirs (men) that is broken I can see a certain amount of admiration in their faces. My ex husband once told me all the women I rode horses with looked like dikes...are you kidding me???? Lithe musular women with long pony tails and tanktops sporting chaps (essentially a leather frame for the behind)....what some guys think are sexy I don't know. I think that some men think that condfident women don't 'NEED' them. I personally would much rather be 'WANTED'. Let me tell you something, if someone like me WANTS you, it's a compliment. Why do we always need to be in distress????? I guess I should tie myself to some train tracks if I want to get a date.

Ya know, I'm one of those tomboys. I change my own oil, worked at Lube Pros before I was a non-union sider, before I became a union carpenter. My shout out to Rockford Local 792. I talk to all these guys that say a woman not afraid to hold her own would be the perfect find, but here I am and all the guys tell me I intimidate them, they can't do anything to impress me, or help me with anything 'cause all the handywork, I can do myself. Which is it boys, do you, or do you not want the "perfect" woman to be like the best guy friend only do-able. Make up your minds.

I'm definitely a tomboy! I don't mind getting dirty if it means getting something done. I like to hike, bike, walk, fish, camp, etc. It's all about having fun!

I think tomboys are awesome unless they're a little to manly (like body builder women.... yuck). And women who chew tobacco.... worse than smoking.

It depends...
If you're talking about those girls that look like the action heroines...
Having the nicest figure, yet can do stuff like riding a bike in dirt,
or jumping into lakes that look dirty,
and at the end of the day still have a perfect face and a perfect body...
Then it's a plus...

On the other hand, if she digs her nose in public,
looks dirty
and never bathes...
then a minus...

So being a girl (tom boy or not)
you must first be a perfect person...
that's what I call attractive...

Cause if you can't be perfect after being dirty,
don't try to get dirty in the first place...

Guys are people as well...
some are stuck-heads...
like the gas station guy (remember his occupation... don't get much gas station guys who are polite unless his boss instructed them to...)
so don't judge all guys by one guy's comments/behaviour...

Maybe if you start to judge guys as people... and girls like people...
then you'll start to realise it's not "The guys" in your life... it's the people in your life...

And if you're finding a guy in your life... it's just a matter of choosing one special friend...

I lovetomboys! My late wife was one. One of e most loviung, sensual, sexual, caring women in the world. Yet with a nice masculine streak. But not too much! So we could pal around as well as be intense lovers. God, I loved her.

for some of us it's not a matter of choice. If I'm not going to do it, who is? The old guy next door who just had his hips replaced? Trust me, no one out here has ANY doubts about how female I am, even under the car.

Hey give the gal a break if she has foot callouses. That calls or some foot rubbing if she
worked hard. Damn, she will be purring like a kitten then.

Say soimeone gives you a Ferrari and it has a small dent on it,
are you going to reject it off hand? No, you take it for a long spin...

I am a big time TOMGIRL, Tomboys dress like guys. I love to do guy things, and have even done brake jobs, changed a radiator and thermostat, and even changed a valve cover gasket.
I drive a big truck, but I can surely walk dress in flashy clothes and look great.
