Dee, you missed the part "Cannot be switched" and wondered why that was important enough to be included

"The spokesperson explained that a variety of news stations run on the monitors in the common areas on campus, including CNN, MSNBC and FOX News, and that the email referenced had been sent by a customer service representative from the FDA's Office of Facilities in response to a group of employees. "

CNN wasn't required, there were other options. Faux is and can't be switched.

so yeah, that is a bit draconian.

If those TV sets are set to Fox news and nothing else... Well, if that is so then there may be one other option.

The "off" button.

"The reason for the change is that a decision from the current administration administrative officials has requested that all monitors, under our control, on the White Oak Campus, display FOX news," the email reads

^^^^ ...this sounded off so I checked on Snopes and yup, it was bull****.

...a thoughtful person might ask themselves "Why would a respected news organisation like CBS report on an e-mail that made accusations against the Trump administration without checking to see if these accusations were true?" This is CBS, as mainstream as it gets.... an outfit like Buzzfeed might do fake news... but I just say to myself "who the f*** are Buzzfeed?"

Also, a thoughtful person might get a chuckle at the irony when "Real" news outlets like CBS get caught lying about Fox News.

Well maybe someday there will exist the technology that will let you share that information, but I guess for now we will just have to take your word for it.

or maybe it was because:

The internal message appears to have been written in response to concerns expressed by employees. It also clearly states that a change of news channels was made at the “request” of Trump administration officials, and could not be reversed “at this time.” Although the FDA denies that an administrative “directive or memorandum” went out to employees, that doesn’t rule out the possibility that administration officials made the request to higher-ups at the FDA, or that someone in a position of authority gave those instructions verbally to employees.

Yep and then they might understand this:

^^^^^ ...you want to pin all your hopes and dreams to that?....the "we can't prove any of these allegations but there's a slim possibility that they might be true" defense?.... alrighty then, I'm gonna stick with this:

No there are not my hopes and dreams, this is just facts and the fact is, someone in the tRump organization sent this order and it is 100% true and verifiable as per the memo.

But hey if you want to pin all your hopes and dreams that climate change is a hoax put forth by the Chinese and Obama was a moolsum then hey that is up to you not to question the person that made those claims.

Yep and a thinking person might ask, why would someone from the tRump organization has a vested interest in claiming everything that makes them look bad is fake news.

what Snopes said:

"An FDA spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the e-mail, but told us:
There was no directive or memorandum from the Administration that went out to employees about broadcast news channels displaying on monitors in common areas throughout the FDA’s White Oak campus.
According to an agency official, the e-mail was written by “a customer service representative from the FDA’s Office of Facilities responding to a group of employees.” The official also said that campus television monitors currently display a “variety of news shows”, but did not say whether that has consistently been the case.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the switch to the Fox News Channel did, in fact, take place, if only temporarily:
The FDA’s TV monitors typically have split screens, with half announcing FDA news such as upcoming scientific or regulatory lectures. The other half showed CNN, at least until a week ago, when the hallway monitors were switched to Fox.
Friday morning, after an image of the email explaining the shift to Fox News was tweeted, monitors were switched back so that some displayed CNN and some Fox News, FDA doctors said.
Our requests for further clarification from the FDA have thus far yielded no response.

http://www.snopes.com/2017/05/05/fda-tv-monitors-fox-news/

so, if it indeed took place as Snopes said, but only temporarily, perhaps CBS making it news caused someone in the FDA or White House to have an oh shoot moment and change the policy. i'm sure an "FDA spokesperson" wouldn't give fake news :)

thankfully the Chump White (Again) House is like the weather...wait a day, and something new will come out of it to be concerned about.

Na...we're way more interested in clientelism, crony-capitalism, nepotism, self-dealing, and the rapidly evolving Russian connection of the tRump administration...all this other "stuff" is important, but not the deal clincher of a self-serving administration handing out visa's for access, and colluding with the enemy...tRump is a traitor, and his administration is an anti-patriotic self-serving bunch of swamp-water scum.

I bet you had no idea what an understatement that was gonna become!

The shit has been hitting the fan so fast at the White House these days ... it's gonna get clogged up.

I wonder if it's like a shredder ... sometimes you have to run it backwards to unclog it?

it is a reminder that while someone likes to talk about Chump winning and bringing hope to the masses....the reality is Chump ran for president a few times and failed. It took (What) Ailes (You) to bring the birther bullshit to TV and make it seem like actual news, that laundered Chump the Conspiracy Theorist and made him white and clean. Grandparents across the country jumped slowly out of the La-Z-Boy chairs, pumped a palsied fist in the air and shouted

FINALLY! I can now tell the grandkids i'm not a racist! I have a real reason to hate the black man in office now!

Ailes figured it was cheaper to have opinions expressed than news investigated, yet wrap it up in a studio that makes it look like it might be news. If Republican lemmings had simply asked for facts and proof, Faux News would have failed. But he was, as so many business successes, in the right place at the right time. He told an audience what they wished to hear, and did it affordably to make a profit. And so business thinks he's a genius, as it has with other heroes.

Now Faux News gets to find a new leader, as the GOP wonders whether to embrace the scandalous tar baby, or go back to conservative values. Will the Tea Party still be fashionable a decade from now? Or will the country return to Willie Buckley Jr?

Remember when the conservatives went nuts at Obama's bowing because it made America look weak?

Because nothing says power and an orange skinned guy doing a curtsy.

Fox praises Trump for not bowing to Saudi leaders — right before he bows and curtsies
By Kaili Joy Gray | May 20, 2017

The nations that will be hosting Trump do not show any sign of intimidation by the blustering bullying president either. Saudi Arabia will be placating Trump’s infamously picky palate by offering him well-done steak and ketchup at its dinner, along with traditional cuisine.

Meanwhile, Trump’s aides and foreign delegations are so concerned about how badly Trump’s travels could go that they are consciously scheduling plenty of “down time” for him, and preparing “lots of visual aids” to help him understand the complex issues and relationships involved in his first trip.

On Trump’s very first day, he has already become a laughing stock on the internet for his bow and curtsy in Saudi Arabia. Even his wife and daughter Ivanka, who are traveling with him, have added to Trump’s humiliation by deciding not to cover their heads — something Trump strongly criticized Michelle Obama for when she was first lady.

Trump still has a trip to Israel on his agenda as well, at least for now. It is incredibly awkward, considering Trump recently enraged the country by sharing its top secret intelligence with Russian officials during a meeting last week in the Oval Office.

It is almost too terrifying to imagine what will happen next on Trump’s travels abroad.

I thought Trump appointed his son-in-law, Kushner, to be in charge of creating peace in the middle east. So where is he? Is he guarding the hen house in DC?

No, he is working out his kickback from the Saudi arms deal.

"I thought Chump appointed the son-in-law in charge of Middle East peace in a sign of nepotism?"

>>>that's a real good point. and the answer is, "that was a few days ago when the president was just an ***hole. But since then, he's an impeachable ***hole. So, its time to stop golfing at your own frigging golf course you bill the frigging tax payer for, and time to start looking presidential to distract from the fact even a Republican Congress thinks the Republican president should be investigated".

nothing like having your nuts in the fire to make you want to look like you actually might deserve your job. Its like the boss who stops foisting responsibility onto the secretary and the assistants when the boss finds out the board is wondering why they pay the boss so damn much for doing so little.

Sounds like Comey is going to testify. Well, at least we know he can't say that he was troubled IF Trump asked about Flynn. Will be interesting to see what he says that we really don't know. No collusion, no obstruction.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that Jared Kushner is part of Trump’s Russia problem
Updated by Dara Linddara@vox.com May 20, 2017, 9:20am EDT

Jared Kushner: the young, pragmatic, hardheaded businessman out to modernize the US government and moderate the worst tendencies of his father-in-law — Donald Trump.

But what if, instead, Jared is not a panacea for the chaotic White House, but one of its biggest problems?

As the Trump administration’s been sent into a death spiral over the firing of FBI Director James Comey last week — a failed move to curtail the Justice Department investigation into contact between his campaign and the Russian government — Kushner hasn’t been the “adult in the room” urging caution and scrupulousness. To the contrary, he’s been urging aggression and retaliation.

Trump’s eventual statement was actually much less conciliatory than prior presidents have been. Yet Kushner wanted it to be even harsher — despite the existing concerns about independence at the Department of Justice.

It’s also interesting that, according to Reuters’ Julia Edwards Ainsley, the White House is considering trying to hobble Mueller — using a regulation barring Mueller from investigating anyone his former law firm had represented. In practice, that would be Kushner and former campaign head Paul Manafort.

Kushner’s closely connected to Mike Flynn — and fairly connected to Russia

He does appear to have been relatively close to the disgraced Flynn. According to at least one report (from NBC News’ Peter Alexander), he and Ivanka Trump were the ones who assured Flynn he could get the job of National Security Advisor — at a meeting at Trump Tower after the election, Alexander said, Ivanka Trump and Kushner told Flynn that his “loyalty” to the family would be rewarded.

Kushner also accompanied Flynn to his meeting with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition period — part of the pattern of contacts between Flynn and Kislyak that Flynn subsequently lost his job for lying about. Kushner, however, also arranged subsequent meetings with Kislyak and other Russian officials — and the White House didn’t disclose those at the time, either.

Gingrich spreads conspiracy theory about slain DNC staffer
By David Weigel May 21 at 11:13 AM

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich, a stalwart supporter of President Trump, used a Sunday-morning appearance on “Fox and Friends” to spread the conspiracy theory that former Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich was killed last year to cover up the true story of how WikiLeaks obtained tens of thousands of hacked Democratic Party emails.

“At this point, only people with transparent political agendas or sociopaths are still perpetuating Seth Rich conspiracies and in Newt Gingrich we find both,” said Bauman. He can never know the deep pain he has caused the Rich family, and I hope he is held accountable either in this world or the next.”

Maybe she will explain the concept of confession and forgiveness and the suffering that they went through for years.

That whole thing with her going to the Vatican would be interesting.

Statement on coverage of Seth Rich murder investigation
Published May 23, 2017
Fox News

On May 16, a story was posted on the Fox News website on the investigation into the 2016 murder of DNC Staffer Seth Rich. The article was not initially subjected to the high degree of editorial scrutiny we require for all our reporting. Upon appropriate review, the article was found not to meet those standards and has since been removed.
