It Took One Week Before Hannity Went Back to Pimping Conspiracy Theories
Posted at 9:30 am on May 31, 2017 by Susan Wright

Disingenuous is his middle name.

It’s only been a week since Sean Hannity was chastised for pushing an internet hoax about murdered DNC staffer, Seth Rich, in spite of the pain it caused Rich’s family.

Hannity went on a vendetta to prove Rich was not the victim of a botched robbery, as Washington D.C. law enforcement have insisted, but that Hillary Clinton and the DNC were somehow culpable.

Fox News pulled the story from their website and issued a full retraction, after a heartfelt letter from the Rich family, asking them to stop pushing the story.

"close" only counts when you are throwing horse-shoes...and hand-grenades

... or throwing panties on the bedroom floor. Hey, being held at 3rd base is fine by me! ;)

At some point, you are gonna have to start winning SEATS....or else

I have to disagree tho - it's not that simple. It depends where you're at. Montana where you'd normally expected to lose that House seat by 15% more? It foreshadows the midterms. You don't have to Win strong Republican districts. It foreshadows starting to be winning seats in more doable areas.

But the moment they see his base eroding, or that the economy is sinking big time,
They'll be the ones to call for impeachment proceedings (or enact the 25th amendment), and put in Pence to thwart further damage

Yeah, but if it gets to that point, they'll get shellacked at the midterms anyway. "Hey support us Republicans -- we finally went with impeaching our Repub president." Naw, you're going to see a Yuge shift in Congress if it gets to the point where it's "WTF, why aren't you?" or they do. They'd be between a rock & a hard place.

yeah, and Pennsylvania was a strongly held Dem state for a long time...until 2016

Yeah, but it's a swing state that leans left. It's Republican winnable, always has been. Yuge difference between that and Georgia. Yuge Yuge difference. One can't compare them like they're remotely the same. Again, right now, these are "pre-game warm ups", and you can glean info on how well the Dems will do for elections in 2018.

The Dems need to start building momentum.....they need to get a win....this year they are 0 for 2 in Fed elections.

Again, those are in strong Republican areas that it'd be a huge longshot even during Nixon under fire for them winning. It's seeing how narrow those gaps end up being, foreshadowing how midterms will go. Dems are pissed. The hard left is going overboard and all over the place in protest out there, and Trump's approval rating isn't good. There was bitterness right after the Trump win by Dems who didn't go out to vote, because even most Republicans figured he'd likely lose (and for Dems the we'd-rather-have-Bernie). You combine the lack of turnout and Actually losing + how Trump's doing? Oh, if they don't right the ship -- it's going to be a blood bath for Republicans. But even if they "feel" they righted the ship some, it's still not going to be Good.

By this ^ premise, the Dems may be at high risk of losing the many senate seats that are coming up for election in the red states in 2018. The GOP "dream" is to have 60 GOP senators thereby giving them a filibuster proof senate.

It's seeing how narrow those gaps end up being, foreshadowing how midterms will go.

The Gap will be narrowed even in strong GOP areas, but the question is if.....it can be narrowed enough to produce the needed number of wins

You combine the lack of turnout and Actually losing + how Trump's doing? Oh, if they don't right the ship -- it's going to be a blood bath for Republicans. But even if they "feel" they righted the ship some, it's still not going to be Good.

There are more variables at play here...there are many Trump diehards that feel that their hero is being unfairly targeted; and may actually be more inclined to back him out of spite....nobody knows these numbers

There are many out there who already feel that the "ship has been set right"....just by not having a Blackman there (or even Hillary).

At the end of the day...the onus is on the Dems to go out and take what was once theirs

Yuge difference between that and Georgia.

as I said, the Dems are gonna need to produce some wins in GOP country.

"Hey support us Republicans -- we finally went with impeaching our Repub president." Naw, you're going to see a Yuge shift in Congress if it gets to the point where it's "WTF, why aren't you?"

The GOP is betting on the hope that the economy will be doing better under Trump for 2018; regardless of how "hurt" he is. That is what they will be banking on for the 2018 mid terms; a good jobs report; low inflation; rising GDP; etc.

IF we have another major down turn between now and next year's elections then it will favor the Dems, and if Trump is still under fire; then the GOP might take action to shake things up...they won't have much choice.

Did you know in 1998 Bill O'Reilly wrote a novel about a tall, bitter, sexually predatory newsman who gets forced out of his job and starts murdering former colleagues who helped to ruin his career?

Those Who Trespass

One by one, high-level executives and news correspondents are being brutally murdered in the cutthroat world of television journalism.

It soon becomes clear that the killings are linked by a common thread--someone is paying back the system for their own lost career. A New York City detective assigned to the case joins forces with a feisty tabloid reporter to root out the killer from the evergrowing field of suspects.

Their investigation takes them around the globe and into the farthest reaches of one man's obsessional revenge.

meanwhile, Yule, you make a good argument, but you forgot gerrymandering:

still, considering the "monkey phucking a football" appearance of the GOP, there's still a chance the American voter will really, really want to split this ticket.

I realize the gerrymandering issue (unless the Dems can win a house majority..if that is even possible); but I'm just hoping to get back that 1 seat majority again in the senate.

Right now, it seems best to keep Trump where he is as long as possible and keeps Fkn'ng things up even more...to the point where the rubber meets the road.....hate say it, but its the only way!

I agree, its not enough to say, "well...we aren't the other guy". But Chump literally makes the best case against himself. sometimes the best way to show someone is a disaster is to...get out of the way and let them prove it. a picture is worth a thousand words, and an action is worth a thousand accusations.

Speaking of gerrymandering:
""""Maryland Democrats drew the state’s convoluted congressional districts with an eye toward ousting a longtime Republican incumbent and replacing him with a Democrat, former Gov. Martin O’Malley has acknowledged as part of a high-profile legal challenge to the maps winding its way through federal court.

The acknowledgment that state Democrats were working in 2011 to add a seventh member of their party to the House of Representatives, widely understood at the time but seldom conceded publicly even now, comes as Republican Gov. Larry Hogan is advocating for a nonpartisan redistricting commission, ostensibly to curb partisan gerrymandering"""

And this

"""""""""Cooper v. Harris, Monday’s case, involves North Carolina’s two most infamous congressional districts, District 1 and District 12. In the 1990s, the Democratic-controlled state legislature gerrymandered both districts into bizarre shapes that appeared to be drawn along racial lines. A group of Republican voters sued, arguing that the state had used race to shape the districts in violation of the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.""""""""""

No, because the Senate's different for the most part. In the House, as pointed out, many of them are outlined for benefit of one party vs another. So you'll hit a spot even when the Dems are tanking like an iron tub in the ocean -- Repubs won't be able to take certain districts, and vice versa. In Montana, a repub state where it's possible to win governor as a conservative Dem, good luck getting certain districts -- won't happen. Especially so early, right after Trump gets the ball (anti) rolling. So the Montana one isn't a good indicator. And Georgia, oh please -- that's even worse. :) MY point is -- look at the gap narrowing when it comes to such one-sided areas where one wouldn't win anyway. If they have to Fight for something where normally a cat with a Dem or Repub nametag would win over the opposing party -- look out.

Assuming no ship is righted, etc -- which there's no indication it will be so much -- the Dems will not lose any seats in the senate. Only gain -- but I haven't seen what states have seats up for re-election and what the potential is.

there are many Trump diehards that feel that their hero is being unfairly targeted; and may actually be more inclined to back him out of spite....nobody knows these numbers

True there are those diehards, but it's not growing and it's not even close to 50% of the country. Many republicans are Not for him.

as I said, the Dems are gonna need to produce some wins in GOP country.

Right now it's Real early -- even though it's a "bad" early. In a year and a half, it's pretty much only going to get worse for the GOP for voting. Trends say so and this situation Really puts icing on that cake. Dems do need to win in GOP-leaning country, oh totally. Everything's brewing for that. But rock-solid GOP areas? Kicking a$$ there won't happen, but maybe stealing some should at least be a Viable possibility, yes.

The GOP is betting on the hope that the economy will be doing better under Trump for 2018; regardless of how "hurt" he is.

Trump's only hope is the economy BOOMS and/or wars. Those tend to keep presidents in power. But the economy can be doing just fine -- but just that's not enough to bail him out with all the stuff going on. And Hillary's not going to run again against him (that'd be his only hope which he won't have). Having a huge mideast war? That could keep him in.

Look what a war did for the first Bush--something like 91% approval or so for Desert Storm? I could totally see that happening, everyone pulls together in times of shared challenge.

Dems are their own biggest enemies.....specializing in losing elections they ought to be winning.
Obama came outta nowhere in 2007...given the state of the economy; a Dem Victory was in the bag...and by who else but HC who would deliver....many Dems shuddered when Obama won the nomination; felt he would get massacred by McCain.

My point is that the hardest thing to predict is how the Dems will fare in a federal election

Many republicans are Not for him.

While they may not like him very much...I would stop short of saying that they are "not for him"

Many in the GOP (who don't like him much) now have a fair amount invested in him
Guys like McConnel, Graham...are not likely to take him down, as long as his base is still solid

Well, so if a corruption ridden Trump starts a dubious war somewhere....are you saying that his approval rating will triple up to over 90%?....................Maybe I'm a bit naive but I find it hard to belive

Sean Hannity is shocked and appalled at The Onion
By Clayton Purdom
Jun 2, 2017 10:19 AM

Last night, muppet-like blowhard Sean Hannity ceased propagating conspiracy theories long enough to detail his newest outrage. Today’s straw man threatening the sanctity of traditional American values is—no, not gay marriage, and not the phrase “happy holidays,” but instead our sister publication, The Onion, who last month published the article “Hundreds Of Miniature Sean Hannitys Burst From Roger Ailes’ Corpse.” Hannity apparently came across the article yesterday and, in a distinct display of the value structure within his mind, confused the capacity for critical thinking and humor with “the left”:

Last night on his show, he tackled The Onion’s hard-hitting allegations—that is, that he is an alien-like parasite that festers by the dozen within the decaying corpses of disgraced neoconservative sexual predators—with the sense of moral indignation that is his calling card.

That’s right, you sick liberal ****s—his daughter is out here reading The Onion, being exposed to their, um, Kathy Griffin-esque brand of violent social satire. Whether this goes on to be a crusade for Hannity remains to be seen, but we can all rest easy knowing he has read and internalized the phrase “two-inch-tall, mucus-covered Hannitys,” an image that will surely haunt him more than the fact that advertisers are fleeing his show and that the network built on misinformation, disdain for its viewers, and good old-fashioned American racism is crumbling around him.

JUST IN: Fox News Forced To Issue Humiliating Morning Retraction, Credibility Destroyed
Kendal Rooney - July 11, 2017

More and more information continues to come out about former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey, and news outlets are falling over themselves to get the inside scoop.

That said, President Donald Trump’s favorite news outlet was left with no choice but to issue a retraction of the information they reported Monday on the matter. The retraction was specifically regarding their claim that Comey’s memos contained top secret information. In their initial reports, Fox reporters wrongly claimed that while James Comey testified that the information within these memos was unclassified, “at least half” of the information within these memos was information under a top secret security bracket, leading to the interpretation that former Director Comey violated his own bureau’s rules.

As it turns out, there is absolutely no evidence that the “memorializations of [Comey’s] conversations” contained any top secret information.

The gravity of Fox’s error seems to be entirely lost on the network. Essentially, they wrongfully asserted that a former FBI Director committed a serious felony, and seemed to suggest they had evidence to validate that information. Imagine the tweets President Trump would be sending out crucifying the “fake news” networks if anyone other than Fox was forced to issue a similar retraction.

Where the heck is Johnny Boy demanding all of Fox & Friends anchors and directors resign or be fired for spreading fake news like he did for CNN? Oh, that’s right: hypocrisy.

God knows we aren’t going to get a retraction from Trump on this. But it does make you realize that Fox could basically make up anything they want, put it on their air, which leads to Trump tweeting it out, then Fox retracts the fake news, but Trump does nothing, meaning all his supporters continue to believe it anyway. I’m sorry – I don’t know why I used the word “could” in that preceding sentence – this is what is already happening. The only question is if Fox is intentionally spreading fake news with this exact goal in mind. I’m sorry again – I know there is no real question about that.

The best Fox News explanations for Trump Jr.’s Russia meeting

Published on Jul 14, 2017

Fox News has spent the week downplaying Trump Jr.'s attempt to collude with the Russian government during the election. As the Russia story keeps getting worse, we're going to see just how far the network is willing to go to stay on Trump's good side.

Hey, will Faux News report on ANOTHER Chump failure?

"The White House said Friday that worsening tax revenues will cause the budget deficit to jump to $702 billion this year. That's a $99 billion spike from what was predicted less than two months ago. The report from the Office of Management and Budget comes on the heels of a rival Congressional Budget Office analysis that scuttled White House claims that its May budget, if implemented to the letter, would balance the federal ledger within 10 years. The OMB report doesn't repeat that claim and instead provides just two years of updated projections. The White House budget office also says the deficit for the 2018 budget year that starts on Oct. 1 will increase by $149 billion to $589 billion. But lawmakers are already working on spending bills that promise to boost that number even higher by adding to Trump's Pentagon proposal and ignoring many of Trump's cuts to domestic programs.

Fox News Website Censoring The Most Incriminating Part Of Donald Trump Jr.’s Email Regarding Russian Meeting
Nathan Francis
July 15, 2017

Fox News appears to be censoring the most damaging aspect of Donald Trump Jr.’s correspondence with Russia, with the news company automatically deleting any reference made within the comments section on its website.

Last week, reports emerged that the eldest of Donald Trump’s children met with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer promising dirt on Hillary Clinton that had been obtained by the Russian government in its bid to help Donald Trump. Days after that story was first published, Trump Jr. would post on Twitter the chain of emails leading up to the meeting, showing that he believed the lawyer was a Russian government official and that he was enthusiastic about receiving the stolen dirt on Clinton.

The email made it clear that Donald Trump Jr. believed the information he would receive came directly from the Russian government. As Vox noted, the evidence came in an chain of correspondence with Rob Goldstone, a British publicist who set up the meeting between Trump Jr. and lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya on behalf of Russian oligarchs Emin and Aras Agalarov.

Behind Fox News' Baseless Seth Rich Story: The Untold Tale
August 1, 20177:23 AM ET
Heard on Morning Edition

The Fox News Channel and a wealthy supporter of President Trump worked in concert under the watchful eye of the White House to concoct a story about the murder of a young Democratic National Committee aide, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

The explosive claim is part of the lawsuit filed against Fox News by Rod Wheeler, a longtime paid commentator for the news network. The suit was obtained exclusively by NPR.

Wheeler alleges Fox News and the Trump supporter intended to deflect public attention from growing concern about the administration's ties to the Russian government. His suit charges that a Fox News reporter created quotations out of thin air and attributed them to him to propel her story.

Fox's president of news, Jay Wallace, told NPR Monday there was no "concrete evidence" that Wheeler was misquoted by the reporter, Malia Zimmerman. The news executive did not address a question about the story's allegedly partisan origins. Fox News declined to allow Zimmerman to comment for this story.
