If you're a cute/gorgeous/hotbodied woman, you can be a tomboy, we don't care.
If you're not, don't, you're just giving us another reason to ignore you.""

Aaaahhhh!!! LOVE THIS POST!! Considering there was another post about a girls profile being torn to shreds because she liked beer, smoking, and hunting!!
I have to say that I am and always will be more of a "tom boy" than a "Barbie" or "Girly Girl". I get along better with males and prefer the "to the point" attitude more than the "2 faced" BS that seems to come more so (not always) with the females.

I was the youngest of 6 with 2 brothers closest in age. I was always tagging along and as a result it just seemed natural to do what they were doing. I still prefer jeans and tees with tennis shoes. It is fun though to get girly once in a while though.

I love being a tom boy. I can tear my Harley apart and put it back together. One of the best parts though is getting all girly though. It really feels good when its not every day.

I don't care for "Tomboys" or "Girly-girls". The perfect mix of the two is much more desirable. Most women who call themselves tomboys are usually more of a mix anyway.
A woman who only has guy friends isn't on my list of ideal mates. There are things men understand about other men that women never will. If you're hot, and not psycho, most of those guys are hoping for more than just to be your buddy, and will sabotage any man you're with. If you're not hot, or you are a psycho, then they don't care who you date... So long as it isn't them. As long as you're just "one of the guys", they'll let you hang around sometimes.

Pretty old 2009 thread indeed....
But yeah, love Tomboys. Since they drink a lot of beer, they usually have the bigger Ti......
Oooops! Where did that come from?

Men will love anything if it's good-looking to them... if she's not, well, as one other poster pointed out, being a tomboy won't particularly impress them, in fact, if unnattractive and a tomboy there will be less cute names applied to you than "tomboy".
To the female population... just be who you are and quit worrying about whether men will think you're cute or not. For many, once they think they know what men see as cute, hot, attractive... start trying to mold themselves into something they really are not.... which is not really attractive at all, anyway.

I know this is an old post but I'm glad I found it. I'm a bit of a tomboy and I thought guys didn't like them and I figured I had no chance, but now I have hope. LOL

Tomboys are great. My current GF is a bit of a tomboy and I just love her to death.
I have ever since the day she jumped on my tractor and made a run for sand for my driveway.
I think tomboy is a little derogatory though...I prefer to use the term "woman". :)

I think I have something of tomboy in me. Because, but I like to fix things in/around my House. I do not wear men's clothings,I am very feminine, but don't mind to get dirty.
My friend does not know how to fix things around HIS house and pay/calls companies to fix the problem.
To fix things in MY house I have to do it myself, and Sometimes two or three things are broken at the same time, Last week the toilet was running water without stopping I changed the valve(/fluidmaster) and solved the problem. Then one of the sprinkles needed repair and I also fix it.....My friend laughs at me because of the things that I do...lol.

y'know what's so hawt about tomgirls? you can carry a conversation with them, after you've run out of current affairs and emotions and the future you intend to have...and discuss real stuff, like how the 350 in your Pontiac can go out to 438cid and why that's not a bad thing with a bore that small :)
the more intelligence she has to show off on top of her looks, the more she stands out from the average gal who just has a nice body to show off. The more unique anyone is, the more desirable they are due to it.

I like tomboys just fine. I think the word is stupid, just like I think the concepts of a feminine side or a masculine side are stupid. Stupid as hell. I can't really know op's particular reasons for preferring to be around males, but a possibility in some cases is just that in our culture many of the things that are thought to be what it means to be a woman, are actually traits of being a little girl, not a grown woman, so a grown person might not want to be around other females because the other females in question just haven't developed beyond this. So much of what people think is supposed to be a female or male trait is either a matter of being mature versus immature, not gender, or simply erroneous and incorrect about male versus female in the first place. If I think that a flower is pretty, or am able to cry, or am able to deal with a crying baby, that isn't me being in touch with my feminine side. That idea is freaking idiotic. That is just me being grown up and intelligent. If a woman is able to change a tire on her car, or likes football, or is able to just generally be strong and independent, that isn't her being in touch with her masculine side...and also shouldn't need a word like "tomboy"...that is just her being grown-up and capable, plain and simple - and her liking football is not a matter of maturity but instead a matter of personal preference, but whenever a woman doesn't have that blind aversion to sports because it's a "boring guy thing", that's a matter of maturity.

guts like who they like. I myself would rather date a women who can fish, camp , not be afraid to get dirty but can also rock a nice dress in heels. the word tomboy to me is just away too set yourself aside. Men like women they feel comfortable with that's the bottom line a friend, partner in crime one they can laugh with and be with......

^^^I did and I agree, but the English language is full of idiotic words and terminolgy, and we were on the scene a little too late to influence the grand masters of vocabulary. A term like "tomgirl" would have made alot more sense. Now, if we plan on waging war on stupidity, remember that we are not only too late, but grossly out numbered. LOL

Yea their a lot easier to get along with and a whole lot less drama I prefer tomboys

I love tomboys! But I'm not into country chicks. They have to be city tomboys for me.
In fact, if a girl is too "girly" I tend to find her unattractive. It just screams high maintenance to me. Maybe I shouldn't judge, that's just been my bad experiences with those types of women, but I'm way more into girls who are active and assertive and confident.
I agree with what others have said about attractiveness though. The gal still has to be attractive to me for me to have interest in her romantically.

Looks matter. But I ( and many other men ) will consider other things. If she is good looking. But has a poor personality or we don't have that much in common, then I wouldn't have a serious relationship with her.

Curious….what do you consider a “city tomboy?” If she can’t hook a worm I’d seriously question the validity of her tomboyness.
In fact, if a girl is too "girly" I tend to find her unattractive. It just screams high maintenance to me.
I’ve never understood what a man has to do with a woman’s “maintenance.” Does she make you polish her nails or dress her or do her hair? Or does it mean she expects her guy to listen and pay attention to her and it’s just too much for him?? Unless she’s naked, of course. Then he can fake it til he falls asleep.
