I am sorry Midland, but you sound very biased in your views. Not all single parents are "Mothers". Scars are scars, but do not let your personal experinces undermine, what seems to be, an intellectual, and should also be an imparital, opinion.

I am glad you clarified and asserted that you are biased. It reflects honesty. But not all men are evil whether you wish to believe that or not. Very sad...

I agree with Midland!!! Her enthusiasm, if anything, warrants consideration!!

As far as dating someone on welfare... I did, but in an attempt to BE impartial, I would definitely say it depends on that person and their circumstances. We all make mistakes and I think that can be agreed upon.

I am sure there are just as many horror stories that involve participants not dependent on social assistance as there are successful relationships involving financially stressed individuals.

being on welfare is not necessarily always a bad thing.

Of course it is. It's just not always the worst thing.

Fact: Welfare Costs 1 Percent of the Federal Budget

It depends on what you call 'welfare.' If you count all social programs that don't require a return service as 'welfare' such as medicare and medicaid then welfare takes up about over a fourth of the budget. I don't remember exact figures. But much more than 1 percent.

Sorry, then I guess your answer is self-evident. It depends on your friend and what she is like as a person. I have to admit, and I do not feel alone in my opinion, that you have to be hesitant or maybe curious about why that person is on welfare. If it came to a choice between someone with a career, single parent or not of whatever gender, and someone on welfare, who would not be more inclined to pursue a relationship with someone that is working?

Can she find someone? I have no doubt she can.

I am not going to judge someone situation if I am dating them where welfare is concern, reasons they might be laid off or got fired etc, if it is something temporary for them till they get a job I dont mine, as long it not something permanent where they are healthy and lazy to look for a job is where I have a problem.

I CAN CERTAINLY RELATE TO THE SOCIAL NO-NO. I AM ON DISABILITY, AND I ALSO WORK P/T. I AM A SINGLE FATHER WITH TWO DAUGHTERS AT HOME STILL. AND IN A LOT OF CASES AS SOON AS I LET SOMEONE KNOW THAT I'M ON DISABILITY, THEY QUIT TALKING TO ME. NOT ALL BUT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY. - RON
