like i said i am hit or miss with being social. once i get on a tear well... ya not shy at all but i liek to have a few people i know around. I get a lil out of place at times and so need some time to get my bearings and well soemtimes i just cant be bothered. But i think we all have self concious anti social moments...its how you deal with that anxiety that counts

I'm abit shy around girls but thats just from being called down for years by the ex. Not shy enough in public. I sometimes open my mouth when I shouldn't. People sometimes don't like to hear the truth. Like today when I told one of my neighbors they must be the winniest (probally not a word) person I know. A cronic complainer. Glad I'm changing my neighborhood in the next couple days!

I have difficulties when meeting people and sometimes it gets interpreted as I am being snobby or something but once I get to know people I am usually fine.

Same here.

I think most of us can be shy at times. Even tho' my friends would describe me as outgoing, I am usually a little reserved around new people until I get to know them. And yes, sometimes it can be misinterpreted as being snobby *sigh*. The POF events are great - everyone goes out of their way to welcome us newbies....you know who you are!

i'm too shy for my own good....cause i know that at times it can come across the wrong way( arrogant..standoffish ).....so i tend to use alcohol to help me get through it....like the poster above said, its something i've tried to get over but its tough.....but once i know someone or they know the real me, theres no problem

cheers A

You people think too small. How about 500 K ? I could take a good holiday on that. Looks like we might have to do a brinks job to take care of everyone's shyness......................Maybe put the trailer park trash crew on it.

Hell yea....I'm am very shy in a social setting or when I am first getting to know someone (not so shy when it comes to written/ typed chat). But if the other person can stick it out a bit they will find the person behind the witty, smart ass online banter. Of course.....there are those other times when I am around people I just click with and can act like my 'idiot' self right off the bat!

Thats me too, lots of quick wit and banter online, but take me to a large event- even a POF one, and people probably think I am a snob....but I am just shy. I have trouble figuring out if people are looking at me or behind me...lol

^^^yeah, I know that feeling....I've been to a few events and I usually catch myself looking behind me....HAH!!!....turns out they ARE looking behind me....oh well I'll keep going though, cuz when I do find people it usually means a night of fun and dancing and that's all I really need anyways!!!!

Wanna start up a club?I'm like that too. Can't be "me" in person, been "burnt" too many times.Don't you hate that?I wish people would realize that this is a "dating" site,it's cool that you can use it to make "friends" but,is there a point to it all?I won't go unless I feel welcome and everyon'es clear on the intention of the get together.I even start new threads, people show interest but maybe it's time to move.THAT's what getting to know someone is all about,finding-out if you got any "potentiaL? to be whatever you both please.Yuppers,we are who we are.I call it a first meet."That's What"Friends" Are For".

No, I have no reservations about making a total fool of myself. I went through a period of shyness when I was in my 20s and now I just don't care. I am not sure what changed. It has a little to do with not caring what people think of me. I also feel like someone has to speak so it might as well be me.
