When I was younger... in my early twenties ...not that long ago of course ~she says grinning~ I always favoured stockings over tights and on average probably wore dresses more than jeans... then came the hold-ups what a liberation ... comfort and still feeling sexy. Now I still love stockings, especially the fully fashioned traditional ones though usually keep them for the bedroom as they make me feel soo sexy and knowing they turn on the man I am with absolutely does it for me every time. I love turning up for dates in a dress and and heels and wouldn't dream of turning out any other way (even go shopping in them) I always feel good, I always feel very confident, I always feel feminine, I always feel sexy and I haven't failed to bring a smile to the face of whoever I have met and turned the heads of a few others. There is always a compliment given and that is always followed by a text saying the same thing and that usually refers to how classy or elegant and sexy I looked. I am sure I look good in jeans but I just wouldn't feel as good.

I would say that I am very much me me me in a whole different way to the womens movement

I am a "minority" (in more ways than one), on this site, but I must be honest and say that for the most part, I hate the way most people dress today! Slovenly, slovenly, slovenly!

I go to a college that has many foreign students that dress up and as a result of how beautiful they look we all have taken to just being beautiful in whatever way we want to now. Many of us where skirts which are actually pretty comfy as long as you don't have to fight with hose. I like to go sockless myself.
I hardly ever wear hose plus I am too active to keep a pair nice for long.
I think in this day and age whatever makes you feel feminine or dashing is for you to determine. I wear what I want to unless of course it is below 0 then I am wearing pants period.

What's sexier than a 42 year old MILF with hip huggers and a tramp stamp?

Well, I wear garters and stockings....5" heels.....and dresses. Can't remember the last time I bought a pair of panty hose....1980 something.

Of course, after 30 years of HAVING to wear jeans, steel toed work boots and a hard hat, 6-7 days a week...when I got home, I WANTED to dress very feminine.

Likewise, I understand that for women who have to wear a business suit, even a slightly feminine one, every day for work...they probably just want to put on jeans when they get home.

What's to be blasted about. Yeah, 40 years ago, I think women were a lot more "seductive"....though, probably not more "sexual".

In warmer weather it's just as easy to put on a skirt and some strappy sandals even though I'm a little self conscious about a long scar down my shin. High heels leave me in so much pain I need a morphine drip. I like to, and have to dress up a lot to play at country clubs and events but I also don't mind getting dressed up for a man if we're going someplace nice. Most of the time where guys want to hang out or meet it's so casual a party dress and pumps would just look ridiculous. Once the Michigan weather gets to the 50s the knee high dress boots come out till spring. I think it's nice when a guy prefers a more feminine look on a woman. I've never been the no makeup, t-shirt and jeans kind of girl.

Oh Jesus! When did this thread turn into a blue-blood version of What Not To Wear?!

That's just it, if I'm going to make the effort or getting all dressed up I don't want the guy I'm with to look like he just got done cleaning the bathroom. I like a guy to put forth the effort too with a nice suitcoat and some nice fitting dress pants.

There are some places where I work that if I brought someone in jeans with me, I might not be able to work there again. When it affects my income or career it makes me a little cranky.

I remember a Bonnie Hunt asking Tim Gunn (yes I know) why he is always impeccably dressed and he said he just felt it shows respect for the people around him.
I just want someone to put forth an effort to look nice for me.

No Problem . ^^^^^^^^^^
Us guys did not just fall off the truck and I don't know who some of you ladies are dateing . I have trouble wraping my head around what you are saying . If I am meeting a lady at a place I have never been I ask whats the dress? If I am around a bunch of pompus people I just don't say a lot ? Even at thease places I find lots people to have fun with and be around . If I am constantly dressing up and watching what I say ..I have to move on. At company Christmas parties I will always put my best foot foward . But on the way home I might be kinda frisky ... LOL

Tonight it's Jeans a jacket and boots and C/W Dance Lessons

You know Dave, when in Rome..............................
I wouldn't want someone to be walking on eggshells with me everywhere they go. I've found the upper crust to be pretty nice, normal people - they're just well educated for the most part. They are appreciative of my talents and treat me very well. I found lower class to be rude and inconsiderate more often. I grew up on welfare and my mother scraped by to pay for my piano lessons so I don't put myself above anyone. I think at least trying to have some decorum wherever you are can't hurt. I had dated a couple of guys who were alcoholics when I was younger and I just dreaded going anywhere with them because they could never keep it together.

Dressing like everyone else is boring.

Gee, I've been boring for far too many decades.... Since I became an adult, I've only worn dresses or skirts when a job required it, period. The rest of the time it's been jeans of one kind or another, usually Frisco Jeens - because that was what was available - or Levi 501's - again, because they were available. I don't like stockings, and I can't wear high heels because I've had an unstable knee since my mid 20s. Best I can do is clogs, which go equally well with skirts or pants.

Maybe, since I've been wearing the same old stuff for so long, it's all those others who are trying to look like me!

More seriously, it wouldn't make any difference where I lived, my tastes and preferences in clothing haven't changed in so long I can't remember that far back, I was just the same when I lived in a city. My mother and sister were the 'get dolled up' types, never me. I guess I was a natural born Redneck, and I won't apologize for it. I can clean up okay, though, when I have to. And my husband's idea of dressing up was to wear fancy boots with his jeans, and a sweater instead of a sweatshirt. Was just fine whenever we went dancing.

Would still love to see you in them! lol (not to mention the fishnet stockings etc... uncomfortable? Yes. A knockout when a gorgeous woman wears 'em? You bet!)

I would love to have more feminine clothes and shoes available to buy .

Undergarments are a joke. With tiny oftenpoorly attached straps, no bandeau to prevent riding up and minimal binding so panties will stay in place. Absolutely no customer service for fitting. Mixed fabrics that can't stand up to laundrying.

If you find a dress with any style at all you can almost guarantee it is way down the middle of my shins. Same with skirts.

Blouses are invariable cut so that if they fit you in the bust you have and extra yard around your waist and end up looking like you are wearing a grocery bag. I am not sure where they get their body demensions but arms are cut too tight or short, and necklines gap open. And the ugliest buttons . And shoddy construction over all. Seems not tied off, facings curling up, fabrics cut off grain, zippers that pucker, hems that fall out. and garments with belt loops but no belt.

The quality of fabrics are a joke. Who ever decided that stripes are supposed to go across rather than up and down must have been high. Half the time you buy anything plaid the seems are not matched. Dyes rub off or fade with one washing. Permanent press is more like permanently wrinkled. It is amazeing a buyer will buy one color line of tops and then buy clashing color line of bottoms.

Sorry heels are a joke. Even if you could tolerate the shift off of your center of gravity you have basiclly one width of shoe now days and the enterior structure of the shoe pinches, rubs your heel raw, and there is no instep padding. Even soles of shoes are so thin that you can't walk across gravel. The foot is not ment to be cooked in plastic all day. Finding stylish "flats" are a joke. Strange shaped heels make them difficult to walk on and many don't have and instep to keep the arch from sagging. Forget a wnter boot actually being water proof. Or shoes that are soil and stain resistent.

If you want quality made garments you have to be and accomplised seemstress or pay horrendouse prices and that doesn't even guarantee quality. Made in America hardly exists any more. If something falls apart you can pretty much figure they will not refund your money.

Ah shucks, Blueeyes!

There's a reason Victoria's Secret has been so successful. Guys and girls both love the look of the pretty stuff. It makes us all feel good.

Funny ~~ if you asked ma hunny what he'd prefer me wearing, he'd say jeans and a sweater. Truth is, I tend to wear dresses to go out and about. And he's *never* asked me to change, lol! I'm *way* past wanting to do high heels of any variety, but my there are some gorgeous sandals out there. From about here till next March it's Uggs knockoffs. Ya, even with dresses.

I think the secret to finding dresses is (1) keep looking and (2) when you find something gorgeous make sure it's something that will last -- is made well, and isn't "in" fashion: classics can be worn forever. . . .

And for those who mentioned ebay: *Great* hunting grounds. So's Sally.
