I already know, I'd be supporting them in one way or another. Not something I'd be interested in signing up for.

I can't stand people who make excuses.

To me, someone who wants a job in a developed country, will find one if they have the will to do so.

I know people who are disabled with jobs. Mentally incapacitated, with jobs. With jail records, with jobs.

If you have none of the above, you have no reason to be without one, other than choosing to do so.

That would be more of my issue, with someone in that situation. I've only met a handful of people on welfare long term who were honest. I.E "Look, I don't like working for the man. I prefer getting this cash, and making tax free money on the side. Why should I work for the government, when they'll take most of my pay, anyway?"

If you're genuinely seeking work, you would not be on welfare very long. The embarrassment would be enough, to fast-track your job hunt.

^ the vast majority of welfare recipients ARE employed. Welfare/food stamps doesn't automatically mean unemployed. I know that when I had food stamps, I had to provide proof of income every six months in order for them to be renewed. The welfare queen who sits on her ass with 5 kids by 5 baby daddies collecting a check from the state is a gross exaggeration. It's not representative for most public assistance recipients.

the vast majority of welfare recipients ARE employed.

If you're employed but could find more work (I.E Hours, and opportunity), but choose not to, due to the welfare--this is the type of person I'm eluding to. Not the type trying to get off of it.

Welfare/food stamps doesn't automatically mean unemployed.

It also doesn't necessarily mean lazy, either. I'm eluding to those who give it a bad name.

I've seen tons of people choose to remain on welfare, as it meant them not having to work any more hours than they want to. Welfare is designed to help you off your feat. Its temporary.

I'm eluding to the person who chooses to live this lifestyle, permanently.

I'm sure everyone has their reasons.

I also am sure there is gray matter, and not all is white and black, with regards to situation.

I just wouldn't want anything to do with someone who's on the system.

I've spoken to a handful of women who were, and the situations were the same. They were in between jobs, for a very long time, and didn't seem all that desperate or in a rush, to upgrade that situation.

Were looking for men to save them.

Again, not all women on welfare are the same. I just don't want to have to sit there, dissecting them to make sure they're not. I'd rather avoid what's already been problematic for me.

As a hard nosed Republican and Independent - I have found that I do not get along with liberals and democrats; and in all of my years - I have never met a person on welfare that was not a democrat/liberal

LOL. I'm sure there are people on welfare in Kentucky, W.Virginia etc that are Republicans and/or voted for The Donald.

"On one hand, the proposal looks likely to shift federal money from a group of voters likely to be Democratic to another more likely to be Republican. But there is a more fundamental ideology at work, some say."

"?Clay County, Kentucky, is a profoundly depressed area in the heart of coal country. Whether its residents responded to Trump’s dog whistles or rolled the dice on a successful businessman to shake up a status quo that had failed them, the results suggest that they saw real hope in his election: Trump won the county 79-21. But according to NPR, a lot of folks in Clay County are now starting to worry about their health care, and with good reason. Kentucky set up an Obamacare exchange and expanded Medicaid under then-governor Steve Beshear, a Democrat, and today around one in three of the state’s residents are covered under the program. Kentucky’s uninsured rate dropped from 20 percent to just 7.5 percent over the course of two short years. In Clay County, where almost four in 10 live in poverty, 60 percent of the population relies on Medicaid, and Matt Bevin, the Republican governor who took over in 2015, wants to roll back the expansion if the federal government doesn’t sign off on his plan to charge beneficiaries higher premiums. Obama’s HHS was expected to reject Bevin’s scheme, but that’s unlikely to happen under Trump. It is these very voters—less educated, struggling to get by on low incomes—who will bear the brunt of unified Republican government under Trump. The GOP Congress may give Trump his “infrastructure plan,” but that looks like it will consist of a bunch of tax cuts for investors to sink into toll bridges and toll roads. "

Depends why they are on it. I was on ODSP which is a bit better due to disease so I can understand the circumstances but they definitely need to try to improve themselves mentally, physically. They have to want to improve their lives and move forward in action trying.
