The reciprocal smile
of a passerby
is to me a nano-second love-affair,
the whole of which
is bliss!

Bliss is this moment
My soul surrendered
to your brief smile
agreed to you taking me in
and yes you! yes me
let all fall away
leaves on the ground
here, let me ask you
gaze, see the pattern
no...yet yes
swiftly ..earth loosens grip
we fly.

At a pedestrian crossing
a woman smiles at me in my car
as if to ensure herself safe passage.
I motion for her to cross, and smile.
She does a double-take,
gives me another smile,
warmer, more personal

At my evening cafe
She was there again!
"What was your intended smile?"
I firmly enquired.
"Easy." she smilingly replied...
Gently, gracefully sat her body down
Neither was she beautiful, neither( was she) words unknown
I waited.
She paused....she possibly searched
With a sudden flick , fingers and hand searched
Air...a little doubt flashed in her eyes.
Light captured the green flecks,
How could this little frame of frame
of existential time..
Freeze. .then with a humble smile
She replied...."kindness in return."

Oh, 60to 70, that's lovely! And I need as much loveliness as I can get this morning when the news regarding CdnReader continues to be bad! Thinking of her a short while ago I scribbled down this beginning of what might become a poem:

What do you do
when Fate goes criminal,
takes to crack
and sends you
slouching down back alleys
in search of the taboo?

A school-girl walks by,
proud head held high.
Have you got any good news for me?
I wonder silently,
thinking of a good friend of mine
in Halifax, in hospital,
gravely ill

Silently,
my words, this hand
with gentle touching
speaks my regard, unconditional
on your weary forehead, your battled spirit,
you are not alone...
you have more than my paltry regard
I willingly pose as your sentry.

Dear60to 70, PLEASE consider posting this to Cdn's thread as well:

http://forums.plentyoffish.com/7788887datingPostpage13.aspx

and I will send this to her by email, and/or read it to her next time she and I speak. I cannot help but hope that such good wishes will add to the chances of her recovery!

Dear Pummelling,
I attempted this now three times and got nowhere.I did reach a profile, but since I am not polished on this technology, I have hit dead ends. Please do share this humble offering with Cdn. reader. May this trial she is under be easier to bear with the concern and care that you offer.

My friend....I love that
I can call you....
my friend.

You can call me friend indeed, provided only that you call me

As I bend down to tie my shoe-lace
next to his table,
I hear a guy speak into his cell-phone:
“Five years from now I don’t want to hear you say
that I didn’t try everything.
Because I tried everything.
I can’t be chasing you all the time.
I want you to call me sometimes...”

I walk away

What is a chasing rather than merely seeking to acquire what it is that we do not have
Is it the chase that is the action or the action that is the chase
And why does it seem we seek to acquire from another
what we seem to lack of our own accord
Silly that it seems so simple as to fashion within our own mind
the attribute of that which we put to chase
Rather what we chase is the comfort, the touch,
the close proximity of the flesh and breath of another
The delight in the acceptance of anothers closeness that culminates and radiates into our own level of comfortability

"That deaf, dumb, and blind boy sure plays a mean pinball."

We always have within ourself the ability to renew and regenerate
that which we perceive to be a-lacking

eee..my pinball rattled endlessly
Walk, talked, painted, crushed autumn leaf
pinball in this brain
summoned all strength
going down, down anyway
my little finger held
folded into your palm
Regenerated a-lacking
and halted artificial perceiving
Dead. I live in shared cacaphony.
Crow, raven, wolf, seagull
Debate collectively.

"I would have called...
couldn't. heart cold
imagining expired, spirit expired
flexibility never there, mother
a puzzle, father further into constellations
newness an adopted sin...oh hell
why, as the sun rises, did you ever care?"

or
Breathe, Breathe, I want to slice
cheese heavily, I want to hoot then holler...
and for whatever sake sleep till ..oh.. noon.
paint peach colours and walk silly
right to midnight when...
you began to scowl
now howl all you want! no answer.

Strong as this is throughout, I especially cherished these lines:

At Java U an elderly couple
labour up from their table
and hobble away.
The skin on his face looks waxed;
hers resembles onion-skin paper
folded and unfolded
over and over again

My eye
is your eye
My skin
time wrote
lines of living
my thought
my own, your's
you own, your
skin a lizard's.
a silent sigh
seasons ago
held momentum .

Absolutely loved those lines Jer.......

I watched her quietly
her face
a study of concentration
intent on the task at hand
Around her eyes fine lines
some salty from tears
most, from years spent
counting blessings.
The blue was still azur
and the lashes, dark
despite the grey
at her temples
Her lips, still full
formed a frame as she smiled
white teeth....
some a little crooked
and a dimple on the right side....
who was she?????
What the mirror showed was me.

I reclaimed ownership and am back!!!!

His handsome English face aged
once strong body caged in pain,
by a surgery gone bad.
So he walked with a cane
and panicked pale-blue eyes,
constantly saying I'm fine,
I'll sort this out.

Seems as if he had a lot to sort
a divorce, a date, a doctor.
The grizzly whiskers on his face
sprouted in a crazy quilt fashion.
Smoothly shaved skin and
prickly patches of gray stubble.
Promising a barbed wired fence
for anyone daring to get close .

I wondered about this guy
and held out my hand in friendship.
But when I tried to help him
down some rickety trailer steps.
He refused my hand and lurched
down all by himself,
made mama nervous.

Because I wouldn't take no for an answer.
I held my hand out again for
his second trip down.
This time I won the toss.
Pride always goes before a fall
and he didn't need to loose
any more wrestling matches
with life.

Yes, of course, but... will you play nicely? Will you share your bubble-gum with some of the other kids? And that was a wonderful poem you just posted.

Stalk me! Stalk me! I'm what they call "an easy stalk" - although preferably from someone a whole lot closer by!
