The poems I value - like this recent one of yours - do NOT atempt the impossible of trying to spell everything out, trying to nail a thought to a board like a dead butterfly, but instead try to hint at it, to surround it and leave it to the reader to fill in the space.

I enjoy watching you get better and better at writing poems, wrestling not only with content but with form. In poetry, HOW a thing is said is part and parcel of what is said...

the yowling, mewling heart
would just shut up!

Watch me rhyme hope
with despair! Watch me
run off every-which-where.
I’m the ace of spades

in search of the queen of hearts,
shuffling the deck again
and again, out in the desert
praying for rain.

Sometimes it’s hard
to know pleasure from pain

It's the rare poem of mine that DOESN'T rhyme, so i suppose i should contribute something here. Just a short one to dip my toes in

Swallow me whole,
and I will swallow you
Teach me to know
all the things I always knew
Tell me to take
what is mine for what I give
Let me awake
and share the life I live
Take me to heart
and remember what I am

of believing that I can

Day- or night-time,
sober or stewed,
some of ‘em delicate, some of ‘em crude.

I will beat it over its miserable head until the time
it does. How dare it
try to be “free verse”! I won’t share it
with anyone until it gets its frigging
act together even if that means zigging
and zagging and searching through the dictionary
or praying to the rhyming-fairy!

Why would you like a poem to rhyme?
Hearing a beat that reads perfect time.
Words of expression, say what we can.
Freedom of speach, how can you ban?

I will follow by your rules that are given.
Into the sub-conscious mind I am driven.
Searching for words that meet the goal.
Trying to conform, might upset my soul.

I love to write peoms that rhyme, its my favorite kind of wrinting. This is "because its ok" by me!!

Everyone has that feeling,
of happiness and well being.
But soon the light will shine,
and people are gonna start to fall in line.
The time will come when the truth is revealed,
and give hope for those hurt, to finally be healed.

Because it's ok,
let everything just lay,
for people will find thier own chosen way,
you should listen to what I have to say,
because one day,
it just may,
help you and pay,
because it's ok
whenever it's ok...

In this world you have the soul to be lazy,
and the mind to go crazy,...Baby,
but your gonna have to figure out whats bringing you down,
before you can turn around and show the town,
what kind of change is happening to you,
Baby thats all you have to do.

So you have to stay on the narrow track
and remember to always look over your back.
because things aren't alows what they seem,
some people out there are just mean.
you got to find those who are well,
or else you'll be stuck in your own personal hell.

My brother-in-law wrote this in my grade 9 year book - i think it's brilliant lol

Ode to a Surreal Wednesday

My brain it is a puddle
that sits there in my head,
I see that it is watered,
And regularly fed...

It's been up there for quite some time,
I'm not sure what it does...
But I think I'll keep it till it shows signs
of growing psychedelic fuzz.

rose hips




retiring fields exhale

beneath a weakening dawn.

brutal whispers stir the pale

brown thistle, then move on

to fade the boldest coxcomb.

the lavender and rue,

with silent shivers, inward groans,

dim to placid hues.

frost beckons to the rose,

recedes her crimson curls.

her brittle stems expose

their fruit, a hardened scarlet pearl.
