it bothers me today because i feel like 45 is really middle-aged, more so than 40.

but on the day i turned 40, i learned that my father had terminal cancer, so there were more important things to concern myself.

i haven't celebrated a birthday since and today is turning out to be no different from the last 5 - home alone with a bottle of champagne. at least this time i told people it was my birthday, but it hasn't made a difference.

I'm not sure if any age has bothered me......yet. I'm 38, and glad to have made it this far. I thought I would be in another place in my life by now, but it just isn't so. I have figured out that it isn't about reaching a destination or goal, but what goes on while I'm trying to get there. Of course I reserve the right to change my opinion when I'm older....

30 bothered me a bit mostly because I couldn't say I was in my 20's anymore. I was evaluating and saw changes that needed to be made.

Now in my 30's I love it. Being in your 30s rock! I know myself better than ever before and have more confidence. I'm hoping my 40s feels this sweet.

My 40+ friends & I were talking about this topic recently.

For me, 29 was when I freaked. 20's I was free-spirited, thought I had plenty of time. My 29th birthday was that last conflict of rebelling against being a grownup...but wanting so badly to grow up.

30's I was trying to force myself into where I *thought* I should be at. Finally figured out at around 38 I had no control over my life's path. My friends & I agreed that 40's you're more at peace and accepting of everything, everyone, and most importantly, yourself. At 41 I'm learning to let go & enjoy the ride with the knowledge that I will always land on my feet.

My friends who are in their 50's - they are having a blast! They not only have enjoyed the rollercoaster ride, but are laughing as they do "no hands" on the upside-down loop. It's like being 20 all over again - no fear, but without the stupidity! I'm really looking forward to my 50's ;)

>>anyone else freaking out getting older ???

I don't think I'm freaking out (and I'm 40 next March), but age tends to freak other people out. Even though I've seen a lot of hot women 35 years of age or older on here, I miss the chance of going out with something in there early 20's (there are well endowed like say, the way Pam Anderson was at that age, I'm always looking for well endowed ya know :), although I do look like I'm 24 (ah, the days of being 24 again :).

I'm thinking 50ish will be my age-freak-out. I have taken exceptional care of myself....but the truth is, gravity takes over and so does too much giggling. Damn laugh lines ~ at any rate......I can't remember being weirded out about any age. Just a zest for more.

I was bothered most recently by a 20-something who called me Sir. Hey, I was Dude just a little while back, and only got used to Mister recently.

Some kid calls me Pops, though, all bets are off!

I think the 20-somethings are the most difficult. They're still nearly-immortal, but do provide us 40-somethings with a never-ending supply of bent motorcycle parts ...

Did you mean what age most bothered me when I was that age? Oops, misread the post ...

No age really bothered me. When I was young and in my early 20's I wanted to be older so badly. I looked really young for my age and I hated it.

I thought it would bother me when I hit 30 (it just sounds so much older than 20 something...especially when You're 20 something) but it actually came it really didn't bother me.

Now I'm 37 and 40 seems to be looming awfully close, but really I don't feel any different then I did 15 years ago (well except that I'm a lot more self confidant and at ease with myself) so I'm sure the big 4 0 won't hurt all that bad.

I was 21 and pursued by a fourteen your old who had everyone fooled about her age. I spent the better part of that year avoiding her.

I think when I turned 36 it started to hit me. Oh, yeah, I'm 36 now....

I don't feel I'm where I want to be. I was really hoping to have a family and kids by now and it doesn't look like it's going to happen for a while. The clock is ticking louder and louder each day....

Age doesn't bother me. Life bothers me. Fortunately, I have the forums to amuse myself till my next change of life. I change life quite frequently, as it happens. Incredibly painful, but is a rebirth on life.

My age progression has never bothered me. Growing up in my family & culture, you look forward to being older, wiser, more respected. Have I noticed the crow's feet & laugh lines? sure, but I'm proud of my life experiences and my ability to endure and preservere the hard times and thrive and enjoy the good times. These experiences and how I react to them makes me who I am today and I'm generally happy with who I am. (sure, I have moments of self doubt .... but don't tell anyone).

What makes me nervous is fearing that I wouldn't have enough time to reach goals that I've set out for myself. Some of those goals are time constrained (ie biological clock). But I'm sure when the alarm goes off, I'll figure out a way to deal (with the help of family & friends).

I will be 30 tomorrow at 11:18am. I am not handling it well. I tried saying today out loud "I'm 30." and the words just wouldn't come out.

I spent the day I turned 25 in tears pretty much all day. I think it was the whole thought of turning a 1/4 of a century old.

After that I have not been bothered at all about my age, wonder how I will cope when I have to turn 1/2 a century old?????

Oh well 11 years to go until that happens, so am not going to worry about it now that is for sure ;)

Krazy, Krazy, Krazy...please oh please explain the "Krazy Kalculations" !

Age has never bothered me .... I turned 55 last week and I saw wrinkles around my eyes when I smile! OMG it's finally happened...I'm getting old !

Can the Krazy Kalculations help me out with the numerical age?

LOL
