All I have found with security issues was one site the have on here nbjmp.com. I have tested the site and that was the only site that have minor issues but still can be a threat.

Anyways, hey, I have been trying to check my messeges but the site has some kind of spyware on it, I keep gettting directed to spyware-remover33.com (and that site does not exist).

Not only that but this spyware-remover33.com keeps insisting it would download a program called Antivir to remove a trojan downloader.

I've got the free microsoft essentials, all i need to "keep clean"

but how about you? have you "run" into this problem this morning?

i can't check my plenty of fish msgs, it's part of their system, hijacked.

please let me know "what's up"
Regards,

Bill

This is not a problem with the PC, POF seems to have been hacked and it is not a pop up. certain pages, ie new users, matchs, or inbox, and sent once clicked it redirects you to the page everyone is talking about...... spyware-remover35.com....

This is nothing we can do about it POF should have been notified this is on their server level. the site itself is infected/hacked, not our computers.

guess somone couldnt get a date and got mad, lol.

update, it appears there is no infection when acessing the site through a proxy. So that leads me to beleive that POF has inadvertinly installed some sort of malware/spyware through the scripts on the site.

This is very good information and I am in complete agreement. I own a computer store and have had the benefit of many years of experience with all forms of antivirus and anti spyware programs. Over 90% of all the pc's that come into my shop have these problems and it is mostly unavoidable to the common user.

When I logged on today, I discovered this problem with POF and it is apparent that it is a result of some sort of advertising banner that has been installed on the site. Since many people are experiencing the same problem, it is without a doubt that the admins of POF sould investigate and correct the problem ASAP.

I use Trend Micro Internet Internet Security and have sold this product for years. It is very reliable and to date has done a very good job protecting my customers pc's from these kind of attacts. When I come across a page such as this, It will not even allow me to view it, so therefor, theis problem on POF is recent within the last 24 hrs as I did not have this problem yesterday.

I also highly recommend: CCleaner, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpWare. These are the common tools I use to clean infected computers, but they will not solve the problem that is currently occuring on POF. I sincerely hope the admins will correct this problem soon as POF is definatley one of the best dating sites ever.

The best answer I can give to all those who come across this problem is to NOT click on any of the messages recieved when the redirect popup appears on the pc. This is a trick to get you to install a virus/spyware app and then you are scammed into buying a software app to remove it.

When you see this popup, DO NOT click on any choices: "Yes", "No", "Cancel", or even the "X" box. if you do, it will install the spyware. Then it will disable your current virus/spyware program.

Simply key Ctrl>Alt>Delete to bring up you task manager and in the "applications" tab, select the page, and "end task"

Good luck to you all and Happy New Year!

http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/

I use this like once a month. A few months ago, I had this NASTY virus that would spawn a crapload of "porntube" shortcuts on my desktop. After using various scanners (Ad Aware was one of them). I decided to use thos software.

It's free, but there is one catch (you do not have to do this EVERY DAY), but they update their software CONSTANTLY. This means, that whenever a new virus comes out (or a an update to their software, im leaning towards that issue lol), they come out with a new release.

it is not a big deal, but I usually update it once every two weeks. However, it has been a few months since I scanned for viruses. So far, i have not had any viruses on my computer.

In conclusion, this software is pretty good. not only does it scan for viruses, but it also scans for malware as well.

After you have burned the file/ISO onto a cd (I would recommand using DVD-Decrypter and set the speed to 4x). Just restart your computer, pop in the cd and the menu will appear. Select the very first option and you will be booted into a little mini-OS (this is the Linux-kernal for all you hardcore fans out there).

I hope this clears up some annoying issues that some of you may have :).

Good luck and have a clean-free pc :).

DO NOT update flash player through ANY site. (it's usually in the yellow bar at top but could be elsewhere )There is malware viruses and worms using it. Only update through the official flashplayer web site. Also do Not click to fix anything. Use your anti virus and anti malware for keeping you protected and updated. If you have noticed anything weird in your computer or if you have clicked on shit, do a complete scan overnight! oh and where a condom.
p.s. have all the people who are having troubles posted new photos? I'm wondering if the new version of Flash player is infected and causing this as well. It's new to POF. Facebook IS having this issue as well. Malware seems to be the trouble. Full scan!

One more thing... you have to close programs if you want the scanner to operate properly. It won't scan open programs.
Viruses trick you into thinking you have a virus, when you click to fix, you've just loaded the virus!
These are new worms and viruses, it might take a few times scanning to get rid of them completely. Check your firewall too.

Are you sure it is a virus. Or just some hidden script that someone has planted on the website. To get you to click on one of those pop ups. Which of course usually install something on you computer to spy on you.

Never trust a pop up. Unless that pop up is caused by your antivirus / antispyware program. Everything else should be ignored.

The only security program that I run is Nod32 by Eset. As for my browser it is Firefox and if you do use that the 3 extensions I would seriously recommend to everyone who has Firefox is WOT, Adblock Plus, and Script Blocker.

I forgot to add to my last post.

In regards the the Nod32 program. As far as I'm concerned it is the best antivirus / anti-malware program out there bar none. It is worth ever single penny and then some.

Google Chrome is an excellent browser, new and I have yet to see a spyware for it. Firefox is actually catching up these days, with more and more people using it they are developing more spyware for it. I've seen a Firefox browser being hijacked by an extremely well done spyware before, that did not ran in the background processes, start-up tasks, services, or even rundll. Even with a secure browser, downloading files that contain spyware will land you in trap anyway. Use caution when downloading, 90% of the spywares I've seen were caused by "cracks" or "keygens" that were meant to pirate software or video games, stay away from those and buy those software, pirating is bad.
Removing spyware is usually very easy, virus is the hard one. Spyware usually only exists in your process, registry, start-up, or services. There is a program called "autoruns" for those slightly advanced users to get a good grip of all those mentioned suspicious places and get rid of those items with strange names. Viruses will affect your normal files and make them contain this virus too, they will keep on infecting almost everything on your drive. When this happens, usually the only thing left to do is delete everything on your drive to be cautious and start all over, or it will infect your files in the future. I know it sounds pessimistic, but losing a couple of important files is better than losing everything.
The last solution is to get the latest updates for your Windows, this helps to patch up the bigger and more obvious vulnerabilities of Windows and therefore preventing the more common spywares.
