I hope you get what your looking for in the army, sheridesmotox.

I am actually in favour of women getting the same chances as men, some men will make it, some men won't and that is the same for women.

My eldest daughter was treated as an outsider and as a joke when she was umpiring AFL footy in Townsville, even tho she made the AFL Umpires Acadamy in Queensland and when she got older she held the position of Regional Umpires Manager for Townsville.

But she had to fight every step of the way to earn that respect and even then the respect for her achievements wasn't always forthcoming.

Even in this day and age there are males who cannot process the fact that women can and do perform tasks as good as and in some cases even better than a male.

Curious to see a little touch of umbridge creep in about the thread topic. It was intended to be merely light-hearted, and inverted commas were initially used around "boy chores" to denote the supposed nature of it. Even the beard I had in my photo at the time was just photoshopped on ... honest. (man, those profile advisors would have had a field day with spotting my many profile crimes leaving me destined to be single forever. Men don't make passes at women with graffiti beards etc etc) Although, despite the aforementioned inverted commas, last I read, ABS stats still came up with the result that within hetero couples women still do more house chores and men still do more yard chores. Clearly they didn't survey any PoF forumites, or women with photoshopped beards. Statistics schmatistics.

Married now to an ex-chef whose specialty was desserts...smart move on my part. And who knew that the kitchen would serve a purpose? I only had it cos it came with the house. As far as chores go, I do less overall now cos there's 2 of us. Simple maths. And after 8 years of managing acreage on my own, I appreciate how much easier life is now. He's very outdoorsy and he has skills that exceed mine. But I do still do "boy chores"... cos I enjoy it. And cos hubby thinks I look hot in m'farm girl gear. Hah. At least until I get fat from eating desserts I guess. Most stuff we both do, or both don't do, depending on who has the time and who feels like doing it. Although I admit he does do the whippersnipping more often than me; I still remove the pythons from the henhouse cos he isn't keen on snakes. Except for gaining amusement from making me roll my eyes with his intentionally immature double entendres about my skill at handling a python. But with the 2 ride on mowers here we can mow side by side...with butterflies fluttering all around....staring lovingly at each other....like two swans... if in fact swans drove mowers... and if swans weren't likely to just eat the butterflies. Your career is quite safe Barbara Cartland.

A dessert chef, It is a wonder that Hilly hasn't been dropping in every night for a chat around dessert time.

Just think Naamah, if you were an old school mormon you could have married another chef who specialised in main courses and even a chef who specialised in entrees and then all your friends could have dropped in for meals and there you have all the dishwasher uppers.

Regardless of how much work was done in your kitchen and how messy it got, you would have had a unisex unpaid workforce doing both girl things and boy things whilst you just sat around and organised things.

I can understand how she feels qld, I dated a football player and after a game with a female ref (though this was Rugby) - the team never had anything nice to say about her... infact there loss was generally "caused" by her(According to them). In saying that i know that most sports, the losing team generally blames the ref. In this case, "she didnt like [insert player name] because he made a comment about her physically, so she hated our team" was generally the reason they would come up with.

It is funny how the ref/ umpire is always at fault for a side losing.

I was umpiring as a goal umpire for a game and it being the preliminary final the result came down to the last kick of the game after the siren.

The player who had to take the kick had a shocking game with the boot, so he lines up the goals and the opposition players all packed around the goal mouth to stop the ball from going through the goals and in Aussie Rules if you don't know, a player can kick a goal worth 6 points or kick a point.

Well the player who had the free kick, his side was trailing by 5 points, so a goal would get his side into the grand final.

Anyway, the player kicked the footy and it was his best effort of the day in that he got the distance but was not all that high, the opposition players started to yell and scream at each other to stop the footy, needless to say no-one did and the ball wobbled through for the 6 points.

The blame was directed at my daughter who awarded the free kick, then it was directed at me for pushing players out of the way so I could watch the footy clearly but no-one commented on the player who gave away a stupid free kick.

I once heard a coach say that if a game comes down to that situation then it isn't the ref/ umpires fault but the teams fault for putting themselves into that position.

Of course the the comments were bandied about that women should not umpire male sports because they don't know the passion involved, what a load of crock.

Regardless of sex if the person is good enough then they should be given the chance regardless of them being either female or male.
