For Kids Eyes Only... By Kids OnlyPage 2 of 5    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Early in the mornin', just about dawn,
two little fishers, off for some fun!
Billies got the fishin' poles,
Susies got the worms, and lunch.
Sneakin off , there they go....
headin to the fishing hole.
Arrived so early, fish they were bitin'
Billy got a big one, Susie got a good one!
Barefoot children , soakin up the sun!
Danglin' toes in the water,
as the sun gets ever hotter,
lying back , enjoyin' the breeze,
Talkin about what might be,
laughin , gigglin , smilin,
hearts forever make life easy!
Let me be that kid again,
such a smile the thought of it brings!

Why is the sky blue?
Well, because the atmosphere filters the light and we see blue.
Oh, but why is it blue?
You see, the light has many colors in it's spectrum. The other colors are filtered out.
so, why is it blue, Daddy?
Well, because blue's at the bottom of the spectrum.
But why blue?
Ummph, 'cause it goes prettier with the white clouds?

Why are clouds white?

Puff the magic dragon was such a timid creature
but if you want to meet a little devil
may I present Griffin
the little blue mouse
with nice nap
Griff as we call him
has the run of the house
riding wildly upon the back
of our stuck up feline cat Tiff
Griff has decided that he would
like his own elk
a magical creature
who will give Griff the power
he needs to get into mischief
when all are asleep
or at work
each time we return
or awaken from our slumber
Griff is found in a different place
on our bed or floor
even up in the ceiling fan
his mouse friends also
keep him company
Mouse who ended up in the washing machine
on an adventure of his own
has never been quite the same since
and we wonder about that little guy
Pinky is the girl and the guys call her Elkie
she is one hot little mouse
what a crazy calamity of scurrying creatures
wreck havoc while the house is asleep
so Eric we know that Puff is clean
what those mice are up to
we aren’t so sure.

Rain Trip

Within the clouds begins the song
Which Mother Nature sings
Her lyrics tell a story
Through the raindrops that she brings

A raindrop wondered when he fell
What he had done wrong
For he considered Cloud his friend
They seemed to get along

The Earth said to the little drop
"Cloud sent you here for me"
"The sun and wind have left me parched"
"And now I'm dry you see"

Next a Mighty Oak spoke up;
"But that's not all you'll do"
"See my leaves how green they are?"
"That's from the likes of you"

From the Oak an Acorn fell
And asked; "What'd I do wrong?"
Then they all laughed
And that sound -

Is Mother Natures song

Moon Bird

I dreamt I was a little bird
That taught myself to fly
My first attempt I hit the ground
But I didn't cry

I shook if off and flapped my wings
Until I got it right
With nothing else to hold me back
I flew into the night

I realized that gravity
Had no hold on me
So I flew towards the moon
For Earth had set me free

It took a while to reach the moon
It's pretty far from here
And from the moon I saw the Earth
So beautiful and clear

I told the moon that I'd forgot
All my dreams at home
The only place that I know of
Where my heart can roam

You better go before you wake
Was the moons reply
And little bird remember this-
You taught yourself to fly

When I woke I smiled at you
And whispered in your ear
You should fly to the moon
It's not that far from here

~Hug a Bug~
Come give me a hug
My little hug a bug
Time goes to fast
The years fly past
Come give me a kiss

A Vicious Sea

Cruel intentions cast her aside
Requests to play again are denied
Bullied 'cause she's not the same
No one even knows her name

Loneliness I recognize
Happiness a mere disguise
The playground's like a vicious sea
The ponds a safer place to be

Everyday this sad girl waits
All alone with no playmates
If I could be a child again
I wonder if she'd be my friend

I'm truly hoping that she would
And realizing that she could
I go to her and ask her name
Knowing that she'll play my game

Teacher you already know
Teasing her I say not so
Let me guess I then say
A Princess from so far away

Your stepmother's an evil queen
You ran away because she's mean
Yes she said excited now
She's a stupid ugly cow

My Prince someday I know I'll find
And I say He'll treat you kind
She hugged me and I almost cried
I felt just like a child inside

Remembering how I sat away
Afraid to ask if I could play
The playground is a vicious sea
The pond is where I'd rather be

Polly that poem I could feel deep down inside. Those horrible power struggles and loneliness that I remember and even more so remember my eldest daughter going through. Very well said!!!

My Youngest
Posted: 3/20/2007 7:29:20 AM
My youngest,
She is 17 today.
No longer a little girl,
But not embarrassed of being
MY little girl.
There's something of a Tomboy to her,
A very girly Tomboy!
I have watched her grow
From a shy, happy child
To a strong and confident
Young woman.
My youngest, my last.
Someone once called her my favorite.
I said, no they all are.
My Eldest,
My first born,
My first daughter.
A lifetime of firsts with her.
My Second Child,
My son,
My only son.
Who could break that bond?
But my youngest daughter,
My last child.
Every first experience for her
Is a last opportunity for me.
So, if it appears that I'm closer,
I just don't want to miss any of it.

Sick Day

Mummy I have a fever
how many times do you think
those words were spoken
on a day you needed a break
from school
did you put that thermeter under
the hot water tap to make it go up
just a little
did you suffocate under the covers
so you would feel burning hot
did we lap up all the attention we could
from meals in bed to backrubs
to stories
well as I lie here sick in bed
with a bad cold
I wish I could go back in time
and ask my Mum over
for a little TLC
and I don't even have to
put the themometer under
the tap - sigh

Children at Heart
Posted: 3/20/2007 7:54:28 AM
Children seek the fun and thrills,
the smallest things in life that fills,
their little hearts with magic, mystery.
Finding it in places adults often do not see.

Playing in the dark, such fun!
Running until they come undone!
Catching lightening bugs in jar.
Takes my mind to memories afar!

Dressing up like clowns, and Princesses,
having days of teas with bears.
Smiling at a rainbow, way up high.
Their sweet hearts , we cannot deny!

Let us be more of the mind of these gentle hearts so kind!
May we just enjoy a pleasure, like an icecream ,
none can measure ,
all the joy they get in small things,
Let them be the kind our hearts bring!

The Preacher Girl
Posted: 3/20/2007 8:00:12 AM
TY Kisses, this ones about my eldest daughter.

She was a Preacher once,
In the earlier part of her life.
Her congregation would sit,
In rapt silence,
Listening to her sermons.
She brought salvation to them all,
Each and every one!
Standing at her pulpit,
Bible open before her.
Most days it wasn't actually a Bible,
Just any book she might find.
Often she had it upside down.
That didn't matter much,
She couldn't read anyway.
But then she was only four,
And the dolls and toys
That filled her church,
They never knew the differance.

I liked that...too funny ..I also liked the poem about your frustration with the 4 wheel drive...I read a book once..probably upside down... when I was around 18 and it was called "zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance" or something to that tune... that poem about frustration and your knuckles bleeding and such
well it wasn't the oowwiieeez I was laughing at...but the way you laughed at that..
I love a good laugh..Thanks again!

This is the tragedy that greeted me as I arrived to work at the ER last night.
I guess for some kids life isn't about Barbies, Butterflies, and My Pretty Pony.

What does has to happen
to make 14 years to much?
What does a 14 year old heart
have to live thru
to decide it's lived to much?
How does 14 year old mind
move from fear to relief
at the thought of death?
How does a 14 year old girl
come to the place
where 5 minutes with a rope
is better than one more day

An angel landed at my door,
I asked her why she came and more?
She said , I have a job to do,
and I am working hard,
are YOU?
I said well yeah,,,I work hard too,
she said, do you do all you can do?
I said well, maybe not,
I try, I think I do my best!
She simply raised her wings up high,
she reached them all the way to the sky,
then I felt like such a mess,
I felt like I had not done my best,
then she flew down from the sky,
she said my dear, it is not you that can fly,
maybe someday in the life,
after death you will find the time!
I often think about her words,
they make me shake, and stutter words,
like that , so empowering,
makes me think,
heavens may be showering on me now,
god bless me when,
to the heavens my soul,
may send!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shyly hiding behind a mother’s skirt
Afraid her thoughts if spoken out loud
Would be misconstrued
Or worse, laughed at
Imagination, truest friend
The world of make-believe
Storybook scenes, midsummer night’s dreams
Puppets, joyous and not afraid
To become her voice with confidence
of fantasies brought to life
gypsies dance
golliwog tales
send in the clown
when all else fails
a cardboard theatre
grand enough to hide
from behind the white tissues
the shows began
with a flash
to the final bow
a tall princess hat
with gossamar veil
a giggle
one brown irish eye
dancing in merriment
then off to write another show
for the bear, a doll and a calico cat.

Cyn.... been praying all night, I've seen the power of this forum put aside differences and reach high. You are in our prayers

( my goofy kid wanted to see some emoticons... so he consulted on this silly work )

Yellow round man with arms so high
why oh why do you touch the sky?
can you bend your arms and scratch your head
and what about when you lay in your bed?

jumper jam, shimee, shoomee, super slam
can't you jump high without a plan?
if you need to take a real hot bath
maybe we can wash away that dusty path

my die-hard fishin buddy with worms
I can't come up with a rhyme for you
All we know is that you sure are blue
( typically lousy rhyme, cut him some slack he's 3 )

your thread, and presence, makes many of us glow
don't ever be afraid to show
worry, concern, simple good feelings sent your way

Cyni Cyni, come out and play,
Wrestle with me, jump in the mud,
all on a sunny day.

I'll push you on the swings,
And watch you on the slide,
Spin you on the carousel,
And seek when you hide.

We'll fill up the wading pool,
And get our swim suits on,
Even if I start to drool,
You know the game is on.

Cyndi, Cyndi, come out and play
No fun when I'm alone,
Come on, come on, say you'll stay,
And keep us company.

Laughing children often sing
songs of made up places, things
Little dittys , make me smile
these are the ways of a child
Children have such minds alive
keeping only what they love
Singing, holding , keeping
praising, all the little wonders
May we be more like them
this will make us smile again!

As I tip toe through the Tulips
I stepped on a blasted thorn
The words passed from my lips
As my halo slipped over my horns

Holy crap that hurt a lot
Not how it was quitly put
The thorn felt so flipping hot
Now bedded deep in my foot

I skipped over the Tulips
I watched for the Rose
With sealed tight lips
My words I calmly compose

Thank-you for all your warm well wishes...

Dressed in red,
driving a pink sled,
Shaped like a bed,
Seahorses at the head.

He cracked his whip,
and curled his lip,
With a surly quip,
Away! Away, away!

We've evil to do,
He began to stew,
And think anew,
Oh where shall I start today?

With an evil sneer,
It became quite clear,
The children are near!
I'll begin with them I say!!

He flew through the air,
With never a care,
And an evil glare,
Heading for Kidsville Bay.
