wow, a LOT of visitors. Thanks Cyn, Hummingbird, Truth (welcome), Pickles, Naive (welcome back!) and Woobs...

well, I've got the internet back, and a long, long road it's been. I'm still addicted and I just don't care. I'm ridiculously happy to be here, on the net. There, I said it.

Hmm, I have a poem in progress, and....I can't find it.

Anyhow, my dad is living with me and he's moving this weekend, into independent living temporarily and we hope very soon assisted living. My life has been hospitals, doctors, veterans office, medicaid, phone calls to nursing homes, home health care, shopping for equipment, loading med boxes...

And I had the flu on Christmas. Yes, I did. To say it sucked doesn't begin to describe. I missed the Big Brunch and gift unwrapping and dad slept till four because no one got him up.

well, I'll post this just because I like it.

e.e. cummings - the boys i mean are not refined

the boys i mean are not refined
they go with girls who buck and bite
they do not give a **** for luck
they hump them thirteen times a night

one hangs a hat upon her tit
one carves a cross on her behind
they do not give a shit for wit
the boys i mean are not refined

they come with girls who bite and buck
who cannot read and cannot write
who laugh like they would fall apart
and masturbate with dynamite

the boys i mean are not refined
they cannot chat of that and this
they do not give a fart for art
they kill like you would take a piss

they speak whatever's on their mind
they do whatever's in their pants
the boys i mean are not refined
they shake the mountains when they dance

One is tempted to say that *can't* be cummings, but, of course, it is. And very good cummings, too, lol!

Glad you are back. Bummer about the flu! Good wishes for your dad, and a yay! for you for doing it ~~ it DO get exhaustifying, to say the very least.

well, the dad care is kind of down to me...I'm not so noble as I am present. There are days...grrrr....

the cummings I love, especially the part about " laugh as though they'd fall apart and masturbate with dynamite." So precisely descriptive. Don't we all know girls like that?

but my favorite is this one:

anyone lived in a pretty how town
by E. E. Cummings

anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn't he danced his did

Women and men(both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn't they reaped their same
sun moon stars rain

children guessed(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more

when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her

someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
(sleep wake hope and then)they
said their nevers they slept their dream

stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)

one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was

all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.

Women and men(both dong and ding)
summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
sun moon stars rain

ha, found one I don't think I posted in here yet.

jackdaw

bling
I am dazzled by
the gifts
you throw me
distractions
so you don't have
to know me?
I cannot be bought
or even rented
I will catch
your shiny things
(though they were baited)
I just want you to know
I wasn't blinded

asbo steve you did just fine commenting. I wrote a lot after the death of my nephew, and some poems are about my mom, the impression her dying made on me, years later. Very sorry about your son.

beneath

Those eyes have to pretend
acceptance
and submission
no pride or honor
to defend
injustice smothered
in suppression
simmering resentment
barely covered
by contrition
shimmering in a glaze
of tears
and bought
with inner friction

I'm guilty of being an armchair plotter...and then my children went and lived their own lives, and outdid any plot I might have imagined...

love, actually

theres no redemption
in all this deceiving
the truth is knotted
inside my self protection

I loved you

but that was just your bauble
a shiny thing to attract
the next jaybird
with the sweetness
of stolen things

bound

blindfolds, chains and claims
of a larcenous nature

is it criminal
to surrender?

there is no higher law
than the stirring
of desire

and the bondage
of yearning

The above is quite deep, brizo. I thank you for sharing it with us.

We are reaping our harvest
From a skeleton, nostalgic
For that, which has come
And gone. Thus, we wonder,
Shall the tree of life blossom
Before our eyes, or has the
Glory of our Eden departed.

Not sure if it can ever be so much fun
too many missing faces
life lifting us up in it's arms
and giving us a hug
a good book
family
friends
I miss
the spontaneity
new year though
who knows?

Becks! yeah, hopefully they'll come back. I notice a lot of them are starting to trickle in...
thanks for stopping by, great to see you again!

and the mirror cracked

when the fool is you

the mirror
becomes an enemy

truth becomes
a bomb

designed to explode

and shatter

the shell
of your myths

Alice in Dunderland

Coupons good at the mad hattery
with fading smile
the Chesire Cat's your clerk
he'll take your money
then he'll stick around
invisible to lurk
hiding from the Red Queens
homicidal quirk
the Caterpillar tokes his hookah
with a smirk
his High-Q seemingly increasing
as a perk
you watch it all
with sanity
dissolving as a boundary
when rationality
is too much work

Aqualung

He took from you
but he has you convinced
you made an offer

wrinkles crave the smooth
the guileless new
in your full coffer

attention is a coin
you wanted him
to let you join

and you will one day realize
the thing he took
the thing that only you can give
was a great loss

and all the tidbits
that he threw you
came at such a heavy cost
and it affects the way you live

the girlhood ghost
will tunnel under to forget
and struggle over to forgive

Crippled chick,
the chill of Winter
invades my imperfections
with sharp razors.

Tiny Gnomes carry pickaxes,
tap cave art all day on my bones.
On a tight schedule
and in league with a devil.

The “Ides of March”
be dammed.
I'm Summer's child,
I've long memories
that are light and warm.

And I know art lights a flame,
that transcends thinking
into vibrantly colored visions.

oh wow, no idea you had posted perfectly me. I love the poem, it's really good. Timely too, with crippling winter approaching...:-(

what about bob?
you -
I tried to accept you
I tried
but you make my father
look at me with narrowed eyes

he is afraid of everything now
he thinks he is so evil
that others can become infected
just by touching him

he thinks he has done awful things
he thinks the people who love him
are plotting his demise
and he can't trust anyone

I miss him
I miss our dinners
and online shopping
one screen, two chairs

I miss chatting
while I am filling pills
I miss him asking
for copies of my music

now his mouth hangs open
while he drools
now he stands confused
in complete indecision
at the simplest choice

and all I am left with is you
and who the hell are you
and what have you done
with my father?

Overcome this uncertainty
This need to always know
swallow insecurity
into the dark you go
opening your mind
to anything encountered
and maybe you will find
your question has been answered

only certain ones can take the call
living with their backs against the wall
maybe they've got nothing left to lose
dynamite just looking for the fuse
only certain ones can light the match
grifting like it's all for them to snatch
maybe they should stop while they're ahead
money doesn't matter when you're dead
