Ice Storm

There is a very ugly ice storm right now.
I fear them immensly.

The noise of tiny particles of ice pellets
Pounding against the windows.
Pure sound of evil to my ears.

Electricity gets cut off.
The weight of the ice
On the cables
Something like that.

Going through the check list.
Candles, check.
Full wood box, check
Enough kindling, check
Flashlight withing reach, check
Car full of gas, check
Run water taps intermitently, check
(Prevents pipes from freezing... Low risk of that but nonetheless.)

I so hate that sound.
I much prefer inches and inches of snow.
People will die today.
I almost did.
Had a horrible accident
In an ice storm.
Hit black ice.
Nothing will protect you.

Global warming my a s s!!!

Christmas mood...

For some reason,
I cannot get into the Christmas mood.
I did not take out any decorations yet.
I did not bake any Christmas cookies yet.

Just want to hide in the crawl space
Wait for the sound of geese coming back
Wait for the sound of melting snow.
Wait for the d a m n e d dandelions
To declare war on me.

I got blindsided again.
Once of our students at our school
Hung himself with his karatee belt
I did not know him well
I spoke to him casually
While he was in detention.

A gentle kid,
14 years old.

Why?

Never could understand.
Surely there was a helping hand.
Hate this time of year.
Not in the mood for Christmas cheer.

Last year I was at a funeral on Christmas Eve.
The mother of one of my collegues also hung herself.
Seriously, is there something in the water here
That makes them lose it in the season of cheer?

Seriously, why?
A little voice inside me says "Why not?"
Maybe it is the law of natural selection at work?
I have to stop thinking, I'll go beserk.

Alcohol and sex
Is good medicine sometimes.
Beats hearing people whine.

Don't mean to piss on anyone's sunshine,
Just need to get some emotioal sun
From those of you from the south

Life will go on
Time to move on

Still, why?

Thank you BestKeptSecret.

The man of the house has returned
He's got a sense of humor that could bring the world
to its knees
I can see
it
now

He's got a set of eyelashes
that could stretch to the moon
the sweetest little laugh
he'll cause the girls to swoon
and mommy will watch them like a hawk...
too soon for any of that silly talk

He's incredibly smart
can do acrobats like a pro
gonna be my short little Russian gymnast
but, actually, he's starting to grow
into a tall, lanky Texan
with skinny hips like his grandpa...
Truly nothing in this world
can compare
to that blonde haired
little man of the house

He's had a hard row
surrounded by girls
but I think he's going to make it
And I never want to take that
smile out of my home
One day he'll have to roam
but right now... he's chillin' with mommy

Ahhh, thanks Ann. I have so missed this thread. So much history, and so many memories

Here is one of my newest pieces

Joy and Sorrow

Along the golden path I dream
your fragrant scent, still linger seems,
as pure as meadows and morning dew,
in loving thoughts, of time with you.

As sun ascends, to gentle skies,
none more bluer than in your eyes,
thy beauty marked, by memories kept,
in love's sweet parting that we wept,

until the moon's rise full again,
memories saved remembering when
that time for lovers, shall come to be,
together more....just you...and me.

one more from my newer writes, then call it a night!

Knowing

Sometimes, it comes down to "soul searching"
and you ask yourself questions
you already have answers to,
and you know!

As if the knowing has any relevance
to why you ask, is, in itself, irrelevant,
seeming to be unacceptable,
and you know!

You listen to the traffic, seeing it's destination,
suddenly the direction becomes questionable,
you turn, and walk the other way
because you know!

Lol....was just saying to another Canadian man on this thread how it seems there are proportionally far more Canadian men here willing to express their souls than from other countries (well, far more better poetry at least seems to erupt out of Canada or the UK)---and here you are today, proving my point exactly. Nice thread, when it popped up a few days ago, I too started reading through. Haven't gotten to all 100 pages LOL, but yes, what a nice poetic home you have here. I guess I will have to start reading pages and pages back to find other hidden gems and poetry I can relate to. Why did you abandon this for so long?

unfolding under moon bleached clouds
the sky is fleeing quickly
darkness a mystical force
of bending
rising
falling
intense and fragile
all urgency falls away
ebon night fingers me
the moon plunges by
the owls and I arouse
our glittering dreams
take flight

moon willow
lunar peaking
willow weeping
a name begotten
never forgotten
once upon a time
in a dream long ago
speaking to my being
from a friend, not foe
walking by the stream
with two fawns and a doe

welcome back, manny.

another of my newer writes

The Perfect Storm

The perfect storm rages within,
conscious confusion wages war
against the logical thought,
burning sketches against my mind,
lusting infernos devouring
the womb of my soul,
creating a void of sacrifice,
leaving scalped edges
to cut the fabric of my being,
all that is left
is a second of sanity,
by which to escape.

Foofee...thanks you. I actually left this site about a year ago, that's why it has been idle so long.

Weare1, thank you. You are part of the memories, a very special part!

A new fictional write

I fought at Broken Arrow,
I fought at Bois et Jour,
I stood with all my brothers
along the bloody shore,
where limbs were torn assunder,
and headless corpses lay,
the noise was oh so deafening,
you couldn't hear to pray,
but as the shores fell silent,
and the dying scream no more,
you find a solemn moment

and ask

what is this all for!

this one is a bit older, but one of my favs.

Rekindled

Thou hast found lost hearts broken,
severed in trespass of vows once spoken,
minds like gardens flourishing green,
lay in wait of what had been.

By tender love of nurtured heart,
thou hast mended each in part,
where spirit embers silent cries,
rekindled flames hath given rise.

one of my more cherished pieces...

Judgement!

I am,
in abstract,
a form,
existing
in illusions,
intrusions
of light,
reflecting
what you believe
you see,
yet all you see
is an abstract
of reality,
an image
of your creation,
a picture,
out of focus,
always changing,
rearranging
the lens
of life.

New one

Love

When leaves fall,
I remember you.

When the rain
brushes my cheeks,
I remember your touch.

When the sun
file me with warmth,
I remember your arms.

When the moon
and stars shine,
I remember your eyes.

When the music
begins to play,
I remember how we danced.

When I look
in the mirror,
I still see you there.

but when I look
inside my heart,
I remember your love!!!

My hand is on the roof of your world
you surround me
I surround you
You are my house
and my windows and doors
and last night when we lit candles
because the power went out,
you informed me that clams
reproduce without even touching
and I replied "so do flowers"
one flower over out yonder
gets their pollen on the tip of a bee's toe
and the the slightest touch of that toe
on a completely unknowing flower
completes the act of flower love
and then we just smiled into each others eyes
so glad that we don't have
that kind of love where even the slightest
touch of your hand on the roof of my world
reminds me that you surround me
and I surround you and
we are each others windows and doors

thanks Fofee, love your write, cool analogies

just a change of pace..a little slapstick write.

Tinks I pull up me knickers
and ave sum fun,
out by tha door
an grabs me gun,
out to da woods
fer a romp er two,
why not eh?
da sky are blue!

So I sits an I listens
fer a sound to appere,
not a creature is stirrin,
not even a deer,

when ups by da river,
I hear voices fer sure,
looks thru da bush,
but still just a blurr

den naked as blue jays,
I swears on me life,
dere's Freddy and Bobbi
and...OMG...dat's me wife!

Bang!

Reminds me of a time
Long ago forgotten
My beau du jour,
Trying to be romantic
Took me to a natural clearing
By the side of a mountain

He had thought of everything
For a city man, it was pretty amazing
The weather, the blue skies
Everything was perfect, Oh my...

By proxy, nature, between us, took its course
Until I felt angry ants crawling up my buttocks!

I pushed him off with such great force!
Unbeknownst to him, my translucent a s s
Was sitting right on top of an ant hill's palace
Those buggers crawled everywhere
There he is standing with me prancing
Jumping all over the place,
And went straight for the lake
Butt naked with my blouse still on
Jumped in the friggen cold water
Scared a few frogs

What do I see running towards me
An erected penis going up and down
He's trying to pull up his pants, hoping around
Without sensure,
I swore like a drunken sailor !!!
Those d a m n e d buggers bit me in places
That I did not know I had,
Did you know my name means full of grace?
Geez.... So much for romance...

and still giggle~

Painted Faces

See the painted faces
amid the faceless crowd,
bodies walking aimlessly,
heads above the cloud,

followers following followers
in a clear uncertain gait,
speaking random noises,
in tones that seem irate,

like drones of innercity
that fumble in their cry,
always asking the question
why oh why oh why!

Spins my limbs

Ahhhh, hello dear friend

The Leaf

Within the pages
of an old book,
I found a leaf,
and began to look
everywhere I could
for it's origin.

It spoke of love
from long ago,
of times we shared
in nights that grow,
long and endless
on summer eves,

and a single leaf
of eves sweet mist,
pressed forever
when we kissed.
