The garlic flavour in the garlic ice cream was actually kind of subtle, because the ice cream is cold and possibly the sulphur compounds responsible for a lot of the flavour/aroma are soluble in the custard. But, by all means either visit that restaurant, or try some of their recipes if you like garlic.

A lot of us are concerned about hamburgers, as we are getting too much saturated fat and calories in our diet. In Mediterranean cuisine, we often find things made of spiced pea flour, falafel being one form of this. If you make up falafel with about half to two thirds of the water called for, and mix it with ground meat, you can get a high fibre, low fat burger. The falafel is spiced, so you probably don't need to add spice to the burger, and it acts as a binder, partly because less water was used. It cooks more or less the same as regular ground meat. A downside is that when cooked, the inside is still green. You can add paprika to move the colour towards reds and browns, and the flavour of paprika works okay with the burger.

On the salt + anything comment. To be precise, salt draws water to wherever it is, thats why eating a lot of salt causes water retention and higher blood pressure.

In food, it takes the water inside and forces it to be released. Water is the main carryer for any chemicals other than fat, so everything that was trapped inside the food gets released as the water seeps out.

I used to be strong on Peanut butter, Jelly, honey, Banana and cheese sandwitches when I was a kid.

I'm from montreal so I've also had my share of poutine (fries, gravy, cheese curds and any topping that you can imagine ) but I'm trying to cut back on those.

Apples and peanut butter.

And my childhood favorite - toast and catsup!
An interesting note on this, I ate this almost every morning for breakfast as a kid. When my cousin came to visit I taught him about it. He grew up and became a missionary to China. He taught his kids about it... and now people in China eat toast and catsup...

As a kid I LOVED peanut butter and maple leaf waxed bologna.. not even in a sandwich, just spread the bologna with the PB and roll up... or cheese and peanut butter

As a chef this is hard to admit... but I do love butter and mustard sandwiches, toast soaked with Frank's Red Hot, cheese on pickle slices ( instead of on a cracker).

My sister dips her pizza crust in her Diet Coke and her Fries in Chocolate Ice Cream.

I love adding almost any sauce or seasoning to my mashed potatoes. I come from a large Italian family and sometimes add my grandma's leftover sauce to my mashed potatoes. I get in trouble every time! LOL!

At a friend's house for lunch one day, she had made a tray of sandwiches, I asked what it was, she told me, I was reluctant to try it, but when I did, Wow, peanut butter & cheese whiz, who knew ? Great!

being ex-UK i do love a chip butty (french-fry sandwich to you in the US) especially if it has blackcurrant jam on it too.. yummmmmmmmmmm

I LOVE dark choc infused with chili as other posters have mentioned. My b/f told me about the real Swiss hot choc with chili he used to get in Innsbruck.. still raves about it 20 years on!

A friend introduced me to grilled cheese and peanut butter sandwiches a few years ago. I was sceptical at first but found them delicious, so have made them many times since and everyone else I make them for also finds them delicious. Never be afraid to try new things.

Does anyone else make tuna fish this way?
It really is quite good...Try it!!!
I use the conventional mayo (Hellman's)
Mix a dollop of mustard
2 Tablespoons or so of pickled relish
Some chopped vidalia onion
Some chopped celery
a couple of sprinkles of dried dill weed
I usually eat with some triscuit crackers if I'm not in the mood to put on toasted bread,
but if I DO use bread and I want a bit of crunch in my tuna, I add a few potatoe chips on top of the tuna. Anyone else do that? I did it all the time as a kid.

Someone also taught me to boil a couple of eggs, cool them and mix with the tuna fish.
I had never thought to mix egg salad and tuna salad together, but it is quite good as well.

Its the only time I can stand Cheese Wiz, and It can't be that odd.

Why does everyone look at me wierd when I mention them?
