Brady DIDN'T get outplayed... Reche Caldwell did. So did the linebacker's in the second half.

Last year was last year and I know the Patriots are not dwelling on the past. They have upgraded on almost every position this year, so the odds of falling apart due to Harrison's 4 game, Mosses attitude, or even Tom Brady's new baby will not distract this team. They have come over adversity several times and they will come over this one too.

Thank goodness Caldwell was released........

Eman, filthy....
Why are you trying to break it down to one player or coach? The PATRIOTS' offense, with a make shift bunch of receivers, got outplayed by a Colts D playing its best game to that point. And it STILL came down to a dropped pass.
It was NO ONE PLAYER'S 'fault'. And I believe the question YOU asked was, " isn't that the same defense that......", to which the answer is STILL ....NO.
Better yet for this year....it's not the same offense either. Will it be a huge improvement? Probably. Will it guarantee them a SB win? HELL no. But it improves their chances.
PLEASE GOD, let the games BEGIN!!!!

I do have a small question for you, eman and filthy.
Is there a reason the two of you aren't rallying in support of your OWN team(s) rather than throwing barbs at someone else's?
You spend your time throwing out incorrect statistics and narrow minded generalizations that attempt to break the game down below the team level just to denigrate a team you don't care for.
I have been objective and polite, and simply supporting my favorite team while you toss out your inane diatribe. It is sophomoric and tiresome.

markes....

I have said this many times. When the pats win a game by the other team turning the ball over, everyone is gushing on how "thats how the pats win the tough games....making the other team turn the ball over".....

but as soon as a team beats the pats at there own game....(broncos beating the pats in divisional playoff game in 2005)....then everyone says...."pats lost the game...broncos didnt win it"...If you look at that game, shanny dominated billecheck coaching in that game....brady was confused all game with our blitzing, our offense was doing what it wanted, and we forced some huge turnovers.....all I heard from pats fans was "well...if we didnt turn the ball over so much...that game was ours....

ironic...pitt beat us at our own game....we couldnt figure them out the next game...and got our asses handed to us at home...that game was over at kickoff...

when indy beat you...all i hear is how.."one dropped pass changed the whole game".....our linebackers were gassed.....for all those excuses...didnt the golden boy have the ball last?...and didnt he make a bad throw?...(i know im not suppose to say "brady makes bad throws"..it happens trust me)...again..pats never lose a game..its always something they did wrong to blow the game.....

I respect the pats. they have three rings...conversation ends there. but when the pats get beat, i just want pats fans to say...."we got beat"...instead of "well...if we would have......"

Give me some quotes that people have said these things......

Everybody gets upset about the tuck rule, but the Pats never made that rule. The NFL did, but you use excuses too, stating the Pats won because of the tuck rule. Then you say the Pats barely won their games because of close scoring games, but if you look at last year so did the Colts. Also Pats won last years game against San Diego because of bad coaching calls.....whatever you say. This has gone both ways with people making excuses, but the proof is in the pudding and week 1 starts Sunday.

So, what are the Pats fans thoughts on the Jets game? Should be a tough test right out of the gate.It will be interesting to see how the timing is between Brady and the new receivers and how well the D comes together with the recent shuffling (Samuel's return, injuries, Harrison issue). I am ready.

eman doesn't remember when all of the sports reporters sucked on Elway's jock when his brokebacks were in their dynasty.

The stealers had plenty of media coverage also... so filthy can get a dirty sanchez from eman for all of that.

Onward...

The Jets game will be a good old rivalry; so it should be a good game. Of course the Pats win it

I think that the media is sucking on Peewee Womaning MUCH more than Brady... just look at all of the terrible commercials that they try ramming down our throats.

ESPN is strangely all Pats though... usually they're not.

^^^ tis true, but usually they are dolt homers. You have to admit that. Especially that "professor" John Clayton guy. He reminds me of that cartoon character on Rocky and Bullwinkle. The nerdy one.

Yeah, but ESPN has always been the biggest bandwagon jumpers and front runners of sports networks. Just a few years ago, John Clayton and Chris Berman had Kurt "Flash in the Pan" Warner and the so-called Greatest Show on Turf labeled as the greatest dynasty ever....
That's just how ESPN rolls....they are all for flash. I figure that the Moss Syndrome is why ESPN is so interested in the Pats this year. They never really jumped on the Pats bandwagon during the SB wins cause those teams weren't flashy like the Colts with Peyton Manning or any team Moss, TO or Chad Johnson played on.
Remember that about ESPN....Entertainment in their monnicker comes before Sports does...

[has anyone seen randy moss lately??]

Ask Tom Brady....I think he spotted him 9 times for 183 yards and a TD this afternoon.
I wonder what Moss could have done today if he wasn't washed up?

Pats looked great...so did the Colts, Steelers, and a couple of other teams. It's week one, but the fun has begun!!

I can't wait until the classic showdown. Colts Vs. Patroits again in AFC final.

We'll see how healthy both teams can stay, but ya can't count out Steelers, Chargers or maybe even the Ravens to challenge that conferance. Its gonna be an exciting year for the AFC.

Speaking of Chargers...I do believe the Bolts will be travelling to Foxboro next week.
All this talk about how loaded both teams are....this is gonna be a good game.
As much as I hate to side with anything that has to do with Randy Moss, I'ma prolly take the Pats in this game when I do my Yahoo picks.
That might be bad news....I had an awful week one...including last play of the game field goal losses 3 times (I picked the Bills, Dolphins and Eagles to win).

Next week should be a great game. Pressure will be the key for the Chargers; Welker and Faulk could be really busy as check off receivers. Chargers will also need to run the ball well to keep Brady off the field. Pats need to key on the run and trust there DB's to stay with the Bolts receivers. Adalius Thomas could be a key on D, probably getting to stay with Gates across the middle. We'll also find out about the Pats "aging LB's" since they will need to plug holes to keep the Chargers' running game under control. No blowout here....27-24...but who gets the 27?

Vrabel was a monster today... he was almost never even talked about.

Moss was really washed up today, not really that good of a game ;-)

The oline really played well today.

The only guy that stunk today, was Matt Cassell.

Next weeks game probably won't be that close. Billichik will be studying tape of LT's 25 yards rushing. Chargers were fortunate the Bears running backs fumbled twice today and Rex is no Tom brady. It was still 3- nill late in the third quarter. San Diego finally got on the board with 45 seconds left in the quarter. Play like that next week and they'll be down 21-0 by the time they score. Chargers aren't facing the bears offense next week.

Pats looked extremely good. The oline not only "played well today.", they were unconscious. Brady couold have cooked a burger back there while he waited for his receivers to get open.
31-14 Pats next week as the AFC looks like it's going to be a two horse race early. Pats were always a good team. Now they're explosive too.

The thing Bradshaw and Howie Long pointed out today was the fact that Moss having a big day today now will really open things up for Stallworth, Walker and the rest of the crew for the forthcoming games. Excellent tactical planning by Billichik. I'll bet a buck Moss wasn't hurt at all thru preseason. Just learn the playbook and let's roll. They look good. And they look tough. I realize it was only the Jets, but they're going to be tough to beat.

ps. filthy i listened to you three times about the rams over the last month and for the first time in 4 years I put them on my ticket...grrr...I had 7 out of 8 on my ticket. Almost worth the price of the paper the ticket was on.

Browns' offense does look to be in disarray. I think Quinn will be a good QB, but he's not ready, especially with the state of the REST of that offense. We'll have to watch the Steelers to see if they maintain.
Thanks for the kudos for Moss, he earned them. I only hope his team oriented humility during the post-game interview holds up.
Chargers looked tough in the second half against a great Bear's D. Unfortunately for Chicago, though, Grossman is still Grossman. Their offense is mediocre at best.

The Patriots offense is hard to decipher for any team to figure out at this time. San Diego is probably scratching their heads thinking what kind of game plan they want to use for next week. After a severl weeks go by teams will catch up on the Patriots, but for now a lot of confusion. I tell you this, if the Chargers play the way they played against Chicago they will be doomed for next week game. However, football can be sooo unpredictable.

well....As a patriot hater, have to admit...they look pretty good...although the jets look pretty fricking bad....but I think that had to do with the pats playing so well also....

Randy Moss looked good too......
