Report Here any Annoying/Scam or Offensive (Ads) Advertisements (NOT Profiles)Page 4 of 5    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
This very very annoying advertisement for "smiley faces" and especially the talking ones. The least POF could do is have an icon that IF you wanted to hear the dammed things it would be an option, not forced on people that dont want to hear that crap.

Annoying or Offensive Advertisements ONLY

Please Report all "Annoying or Offensive" advertisements in this thread - although they are what makes this site free, they are automatically generated and may not be screened immediately if generated from outside advertisers via the co-operative Google adsence program. If any are over the top, do report them here and Admin will take care of them, if warranted.

Caveat: Do take your own due diligence by investigating any ads by simply Googling the Ad name and add "scam" or "problem" to the search.

The HONDA days ad expands over my inbox whether I click on it or not.
I have sound and all the animation / flash crap turned off that I can, but that bugger is the devil incarnate. And for being so annoying, for the rest of my days, I wouldn't take a HONDA if they gave me one.

Oh and I am not against advertisments on here, just the ones that jiggle, wiggle and such. I actually found the POF site through a random click on another site. But it was a URL sitting there perfectly still not annoying the crap out of me.

I have never seen or heard them. I use the Opera web browser and have Enable Sound in Web Pages disabled.

I also have some other techniques in place that block anything I do not care for. Helps keep my lowly dial up connection running as best it can.

Be. . . all that you can be, poor old dial up connection.

I agree. The ones that make sound (like the beeping one) are very annoying.

This ad is loud and annoying when checking mail:

It repeatedly plays a loud plunking of a piano key effect.

doubleclick.net ads have to go. I block them through my hosts file, so I never actually see them anyway (advice on how to do this available upon request), but they always end up in my history, so hitting the back button sometimes requires several hits. Yes, I also know how to skip back more than one page, but that's not the point. They are not standards compliant, and we shouldn't be forced to work around their crappy code.

doubleclick.net is a scourge on the 'net. If you insist on using them, find a way to fix their broken embed code.

I find the advert for Dazzlewhite on the 'Viewed me ' page very annoying. This company when googled, is the subject of a major scam and thousands of people have been conned out of alot of money.
I know it is these adverts that help make this site free, but I do feel POF should check out these companies more carefully before taking on their adverts.

That sounds like you have some sort of mal/adware. I've never seen what you've described on the site, and other than ads, driving traffic to other sites would be bad for business. Sounds a little like Search Essistant from the popups and extra links.

AD WARNING: do not order Single Mom Teeth Whitening free trial offer from POF ad banner...
Posted: 9/24/2009 2:07:16 AM
I think it's about time for EVERYONE to realize that it is NEVER a good idea to buy anything over the web - or ever, ever give any credit card info without signed receipts. Sounds extreme, some may say, but the world wide cesspoolis rally not safe. Any reputable vendor or service can be contacted by phone or mail once you've decided to order.

Also - if you haven't given a signed order, you should be able to have your credit card company reverse the charges and penalize the vendor. Why isn't this working with the Dazzle-type ripoffs?

POF advertisers, that are advertisers the teeth whitening system and teh shape your body are both SCAMS. If you click on there links you notice they take you to a fake blog whihc you cant even write a comment on because its fake.

If you sign up to these companies, they automatically sign you up to 5 other companies which all charge your credit card each month! And even if you cancel your subscription whihc you automatically get signed up for with a order of there "trial" products they charge you for 3 months.

So if any of you have fallen for this IMMEDIATELY cancel you DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS, open up a dispute with your bank also to get any charges refunded.

WHY would POF have a company like this on there site
go to http://www.teethwhiteningreviews.com/item.php?id=52 to learn more about this scam and how its affecting people.

I never got scammed thank good ness, because when something is too good to be true usually is, so I investigated it first and sure enough

I hope this helps some people out and I sure hope POF takes off there stupid FAKE SCAM ADS

Pretty much every ad i have seen on this site is a SCAM, they need NEW ADVERTISING!

Reverso Ad trying to open popup. Don't usually get them here. Annoying

Actually, its your IE8 that is letting that happen.

Use the Firefox Browser with Adblock to permanently get rid of these Nuisances, and so you won't be back here again whining about yet another Piece of Malware you picked up from Someplace.

None of this excuses that PoF continues to run ads for scams exposed over a year ago, and still run by the same outfits in exactly the same form.

Why would anyone imagine that anything advertised in a web pop-up would be anything other than a criminal fraud? Just assume they're all crooks and you will be almost paranoid enough.

Just came across a nudie on the homepage. Thought you should know about it.
Appeared to be a questionably-aged lady posing in a bathroom with a cellphone.

Can't post the image here, but here is the link that it takes you to:

Hot Russian girls that never say "nyet" (no)...Da (yes)!

The ads are pretty funny, especially the ones that say they're looking for short, bald, 48 year old man in Washington State. Gee I wonder who that could be?

The ad at the bottom of my Viewed Me page that says. . .

Looking to bang? Meet naughty singles for a fling.

links to a scam site with nudity and pornography.

The site says it contains naked pictures of someone I know.

It must be a scam because I've looked and looked and I can't find anyone I know.
