See what George Carlin said about cowboy hats.

LMAO! Funny as I probably wear my cowboy hats more "out" then when I'm working. When I'm out working doing cowboy chores I probably wear a baseball hat as often as a cowboy hat honestly. Not if I am headed to town or riding though usually. Dont know why really except I think I look better in a cowboy hat then a baseball cap I guess... (wink)
Funny as thinking about it now I probably know more "real" cowboys these days and by that I mean a Cowboy by trade.... that ride 4 wheelers and wear baseball caps and work boots during the day when working then ride horses and wear cowboy hats and cowboy boots. LOL But wearing Cowboy hats and Cowboy boots was common in Texas even in big cities too.
But when Cowboys go out they have cowboy boots and cowboy hats on almost every time. Same with when they ride most the time. Dont know why. Its a part of who we are I guess.
Now I would never dream of putting on a suit and going to town in a cowboy hat but then again... (grin) I wear expensive suits when I take consulting jobs with black snakeskin cowboy boots all the time. I have for many years.

i see nothing wrong with a guy wearing a cow boy hat as long as he owns the ranch and the horse on it.

Own the ranch? Dream on... The cowboys are the ones that work that ranch for someone else usually. (wink)

But the owners are the ones that wear the high end cowboy hats and boots and drive the huge shiny new $50,000 Fords, GMs and Dodges.
Huh.... I never got many looks with my rig and get-up, lol

I like a guy in a cowboy hat or any hat for that matter...baseball hats are hot too. I met a guy on here who I call Cowboy because of how hot he looked in his hat alone!

I've lived all over the country and a man in a cowboy hat always catches my eye...

I love a man in a cowboy hat and boots! I love it so much I'm going to a country bar this saturday to check em out! What I like even better is a man in a cowboy hat and boots that has a horse and can ride the mechanical bull and line dance!

LOVE THEM! Hey, this is Texas-it's part of the normal dress here in small town rural Texas! But they are not worn where I live for "looks" alone, but for practicality-lots of ranchers/cattlemen/cowboys here. I go to cowboy church and of course we wear our hats into church.

MelloDLyn..real cowboys/ranchers/cattlemen do not ride mechanical bulls and they sure as hayull wont be caught dead "line dancing". I ain't never met a man who does either of the two-but then again, i live in rural Texas, not where you see any city slicker types.

I have one Uncle that always has his cowboy hat on and another one who always has a baseball cap on. Now if they were to switch it wouldn't look right. I guess what I'm saying is if that's whats natural to them then I could care less. Anyway, don't call him a cowboy until you see him ride!

Cowboy hats---- are we talking about real ones or the ones they make for country line dancing? LOL You can tell a lot about a man and his hat.
If you're at the club and the "Cowboy" has a nasty "I just got off the trail" hat on then you know he a) doesn't give a rip about dressing out to snag a woman b) is trying to prove his Cowboy-ness by keeping his work hat on.
If your "Cowboy" has a "made-for-dancing" hat (short brim so you can get in close)....I guess there's nothing wrong with that but it's just for fashion.
If your "Cowboy" has a nice Stetson 6x Silverbelly with a sparkly hatband, clean Wranglers and decent boots- then you know he's the real deal.

Real deal? Not necessarily-any city slicker can go buy that 6x silverbelly etc.
I can always tell the real ones from the drugstore cowboys. Lots of subtle clues-you just have to live in rural country areas long enough to pick them up.

I'm a big fan but of course I'm a country girl.
