Let's see: they are both "action" verbs. One you can do by yourself, one you can't. One usually has at least one person attaining physical release, the other includes achieving satisfaction from pleasuring the other person. Personally I am old enough to remember when "making love" included everything preceding the actual act: the conversation (for the mind), flowers (for smell), chocolate covered strawberries (taste), the right music, etc. The goal was achieving a "one-ness" that was more than a physical joining. Each has it's merits. One requires thoughtful preparation and one requires a condom.

I guess you can define it, or describe it about yourself.

Sex is nice. You get the release, a workout, and feel good, physically.

Making love is the same, along with a feeling of being fulfilled, safe, and generally happy.

As another said... making love is sex, with an emotional side.

From this males perspective...

Sex = Not caring if my partner is mutually satified, a wham , bamm thank you mame .. I'll call honest..... the animal act of F??king and seperating

Making love = More concerned with satisfiing my lady. Ensuring she enjoys multiple "O" 's then and only then being concerned whether or not I climax.


As my lady isnt an animal.... Having sex ... doesnt happen in our home.

Easy question to answer...the difference is...get ready for it..LOVE! Sex is fun, and intercourse can be both having sex and making love if you love the person that you are with. But you cannot make love to someone that you do not love, you can enjoy the sex but you cannot make love without love. Clear as mud?

It is the difference between an action and an emotion.

One can satisfy a natural, normal physical desire; the other can satisfy a natural, normal emotional desire. (Only one can satisfy both.)

It is the difference between eating and dining.
It is the difference between taking pictures and doing photography (to steal a line from a New Yorker cartoon).

It is both odd and yet appropriate that such a question needs to be asked, and enjoyable and sometimes enlightening reading the responses.

NOTHING! you dont make love you express it its an emotion. people dont go around saying "hey lets make hatred". the highest expression of hatred is murder, so the opposite of that would be true too. the highest expression of love would be sexual intercourse. let me ask you this, if you caught you man cheating and he said , aw baby she was just a F--K but i make LOVE to you. what would you say? i call it like i see it. so the answer is NOTHING ITS ALL HAVING SEX! The difference is the level of intimacy. Feeling put forth. "Having sex" is just that....wang bang, you both get off. "Making love" is more drawn out preparing, and more felling attached. More feeling put forth.
