wow, swan, it sounds like you were so very blessed that day!

my first car had been a friend's
bequethed to me and my husband
soon after my moving to England

it was the original deep purple with red leather seats
the car that taught me to drive standard transmission
and the tiniest box on wheels i had ever seen

kept thinking it was a die cast toy car
magically enlarged to become the real thing
and it went like it had wings

Hey Riv!!!

I look at the writes you have on here,
Reality, truth, humour, cheer.

I look at the emails you have sent,
Telling of times you have spent.

I think of the friendship that you share,
You're a choice guy-you really care.

I think of the present and past,
One thing for sure-your words will last.

Hey Riv i hope the void is a has been,
That your nights are a happy scene.

Floral Bouquet
Posted: 11/18/2008 7:28:22 PM
A floral bouquet,
Flowers gathered from afar,
Adrift on the surface,
Of a still water spa.
Several lillies of the valley,
Calla galore,
Foliage green,
Gladioli and more.
Heady gardenia,
Deep magenta rose,
Perfume filling the air,
As the sunset glows.

Hi Riv...thank you for posting Calla Lillies on the Memories thread...Rose

Our Song
Posted: 11/19/2008 12:54:59 PM
really liked that one riv..... heres a short musical clip

chords in time
recorded in musical bar
measured beats
out of synchrony
like staccato notes
in amoroso adagio
stanzas changing
as the melody fades
into the hush of silence

Nature's Song
Posted: 11/21/2008 10:00:02 PM
Trickle of water,
Breeze gently
Rustling leaves.
Cooing doves,
Whoosh of
Pigeon wings.
Bees buzzing,
Ducks quacking.
Cicada celebrating
Their liberation.
Droning dragon flies.
Deer in roar
Locking antlers.
Croaking frogs,
Leaping fish.
Part of the orchestra,
Playing Nature's Song.

as the sun rises......
Posted: 11/24/2008 4:12:56 AM
woke up to the sky looking at me
pinks and peaches rising
just before the sun
made its appearance
over the horizon
a day off finally
to stop and be
with the beauty
yet as I made my tea
for tissues I did reach
as the sneezing and wheezing
took a hold of me making me see
i still have this virus on my day off, naturally
so a day in bed's in store for me with just my cats for company

for some reason, riv, your thread inspired me to post this here....keep singing :)

floating down the river....
Posted: 11/25/2008 8:04:15 AM
I thought I saw a dove fly by
pulling water up a river....
I asked myself how can this be?
seemed such an impossibility
but when I looked closer
I could see it was
the river pulling the dove

The Truth in the Trees
Posted: 12/2/2008 9:20:49 PM
such a beautiful write, riv....
soaking up each drop....
you end with these
wonderful lines.....

"Now we've shed our leaves
Naked in truth we stand
Tell her she has to believe
In the truth of the trees"....

....for they are there
to help remind us
we can't do this all ourselves
that we are part of
an earthly and universal
community of reciprocity
a perfectly created
symbiotic relationship
with every thing
and every body
for energy can not be
isolated unless by
extreme force
so its natural way
is like water
flowing down a river
currents of energy
sometimes collecting
in little eddies
sometimes with great power
like the river rapids
which never let up
in any hour
we are the river
we are the water
we are the trees
and we are love
sharing our lives
like the leaves
that fall
and the breeze
that touches us all

sunkist oranges and prisms

and in the now
goodness within will always show
to really know we're divine
and not just doing time
in a punishment line
but seeing with clear mind
there is nothing to forgive
for there is no hurt we haven't lived
that hasn't been matched equally
with some incredible love that
landed on our shoulder and sat awhile
quite miraculously

re: open heart, mind at peace
Posted: 12/29/2008 9:43:32 AM

I know that the most beautiful things
Happen when you are not looking
We never find that what we seek
But leave your heart open
And your mind at peace
And like a childs smile
Nice things just happen

riv, your small poem here is so simply put
and of such value
as a lesson of life
for it seems
it rings of truth
and sings a beautiful melody
as we all flow down the river with you
mesmerized by the beauty we see swimming free

may your new year be all you wish it to be!
love, d.

Floating in Rivers dreams
heart strings resonating with
Blue mountains, indigo water
Natures children sons and daughters
who must taste her essence
feel her sweet on their bare feet
Eyes view her glory, are soothed
as Mother alone can do
Her moods are not always kind
but no where else can we find
the sense of wonder and peace
as when we visit natures feast
Like desert rain, we drink her in
rhythm of life enfolds our souls
Softly, slowly we begin to sing
harmonizing with the whole
It fills our chambered hearts
this the force of life itself
we carry inside for a while
in and out of our busy work
Till depleted and overwhelmed
we hear her call to us again
Come home my child for awhile
I will give you back your smile

Time away spent with family
Posted: 1/1/2009 6:56:38 AM
Ringing in the midnight
with a blizzard shaping up,
snow was blowing everywhere,
as we raised our toasting cup.

The music kept on playing,
and we danced, and danced some more,
then at the stroke of midnight,
we circled on the floor.

Hand in hand we counted,
as the old became the new,
confetti, balloons and auld lang syne,
how sweet the horns that blew.

We hugged and kissed
while some shed a tear,
but throughout, the hall was filled
with "Happy New Year!"

into the truth of his eyes
I looked,
into the warmth of his arms
I let myself fall,
into the heart of his soul
I took refuge,
into the curve of his lips
I saw beauty
into the laughter of his smile
I touched joy
this man, this boy,
finding in me too
the woman, the girl,
almost strangers in the night
like two ships passing in flight
but were offered sanctuary together

There you have lots of snow,
Here there's sun,
Breezes blow.

Some days hot,
Some days cold,
Other days-not.

Funny kinda summer,
Season mucked up
Like an out of beat drummer.

Upwards and onwards with life we go,
Irrespective of rain, sun or snow

Let's party-
Summer sunshine,
Cloudless blue sky,
Fiesta of flowers,
Green forest canopy,
Beautiful birdsong,
Crystal clear springs.
An outdoor party,
Inspired by nature.

his fingers touching,

his toe and taps the ground.

at low tide
the herons
24 of them
and strut
on the wet sand
glancing at me.
three eagles circle
below the norning clouds.
enso. a hawk
gathers herself
on the taut wires
near a pole.
we all
are searching.
we all discover
whatever we accept.
a heron
extends her neck
her spear darts
a spout
of clam identity.
we all are available
to one another.
the tide,
like my breath,
moves slowly,
finds itself,
and the
almost invisible
