Mothers Day without Mum. Page 2 of 2    (1, 2)
Hi astral...while I may agree with your sentiment in regard to Mother's Day, Father's Day, and even Valentine's Day, I fail to see what your comment has to do with the subject of this thread.

Mothers Day without Mum.

Mom

Daily there were clothes to wash
The load count was always five
Then there were the meals to fix
So her children could survive

She swept the floors and dusted
And washed dishes – mountains high
Back then no conditioned air
In the hot days of July.

With a needle and some thread
She mended family clothes
And as she sewed she rarely thought
Of sorrows or of woes.

Grocery shopping was another thing
Of her chores each week
Always she wore gingham
In a dress way past antique

The hours they turned into days,
And the days turned into weeks
As the weeks went into years
They brought lines onto her cheeks

And roughened hands and furrowed brow
And gray steaks in her hair
Then, her children grown and gone,
She found her rocking chair.

And as she sat there rocking
Looking backward at her past
She knew she’d done God’s calling
And her job was done … at last

The creaking of the rocking chair
Was music to her ears
And daily she relived the life
Of all her prior years

She had lived life fully
From childhood through her prime
Right up to when
The chair claimed all her time.

No more mounds of dishes
No more mountains’ clothes
And with a smile in a rocking chair
Her life came to it’s close.

I do sypathises with ever one who has lost their mothers Me included, especially when mothers day & her birthday ( December 28 ) comes around every year. it hurts just as much as the very 1st year.

What gets me so Angry is that the florits, as most of us like to go and pay our respects to our Mothers, by buying some flowers, to put on their last resting place, but the florist put their prices up on Mothers day !!! , just to line their pockets, Yes I know, they have got to make a living, but where is their Compassion in the circumstances !!!

God Bless All

R.I.P Dear Mom

This is a tough one for all. Time heals but she will be part of you for the rest of your life. This is a good thing! Remember the good and it will eventually replace the sorrow your going through. Give yourself time and don't tried to hide the fact that this was a major lss in your life. You are you because of her. Cry, be thankfull that you miss her and think about people that don't feel that way for whatever reason. This will never go away completely but the fact that you never want it to says a lot about you and your relationship. That is all good. you are a part of her and carry her in your own being.
