don't go to bed too early, you'll just toss and turn
you go to bed too late, you'll wanna sleep the day away the next day!
I usually go when I'm tired, if not tired, can't sleep, open up a good mushy book, by the time you get to the point of "falling asleep" it'll be like, no not yet, I gotta see what happens! Works for me every time, hence I'm tired in the mornings cause I stayed up too late reading, LOL

Get up and work, watch the tellie, play on the computer, then around 7am i go back to sleep, repeat every 8 hours or so!

I cant think of a time since being 'single' that i've actually had a normal sleep cycle...
And now everyone knows why all my postings are all over the place (time wise!)

I just picked up a new job, that will give me 4am to 4 pm days (12 hour shifts) I'm usually one that goes to bed late (1-2 am). I'm going to have to figure out how to do this goto bed early, and be tired enough to sleep type deal. Usually, reading something like Anne Rice (usually fairly boring) will put me out.

At least the days will rotate, I won't work more than 3 days in a row. Just have to figure out how to go to bed early some nites, & stay up late other nights, heheheh. At least I will get 8 hours of OT every other week.

Well actually I just found out today, even tho I was "promised" those hours, they have decided that I get different hours. Now I'm 2pm to 2am. *sigh* Not really looking forward to working the deadest shift they have. When you are busy 12 hours fly by, but when its dead for 9 of those hours....ugh...

Usually, when I can't get to sleep, or when I wake up after only a couple of hours of sleep...
...I listen to my roommmate down the hall, not being able to get to sleep.

It doesn't really help either of us get any sleep, but at least the next day we both have something that we can identify with when we visit! LOL

-tom, wondering why the book keeps bonking me
on the nose and why I have to reread the
same page 13 times, over and over.

Angel...I have learned that, with aging, I need less sleep. Five hours is fine for me...I can function fully, and more than 6 tends to make me more tired, more easier! (The more I sleep, the more I wanna sleep!)

I think the best thing is to have some activity or routine associated with bedtime. I don't mean just the regular washing the face, brushing the teeth sort...but remember how when Gram would make you a warm glass **ugh** of milk before bed? LOL

I tend to go through my house and make sure all the basics are picked up and generally clean to my liking (or I am staying awake thinking how I COULD be doing that last load of laundry, etc)....and I watch a little of the boob tube, setting my timer for the tv to go off in 90 minutes. I try to watch something soothing and peaceful, maybe even a little boring...a home show, a rerun of a sitcom, etc.

And most importantly...make your bedroom your comfort zone! Invest in the sheets of your liking...Egyptian Cotton or flannel? (I HAVE to have 800 count EC or better!) Fluffly, cool pillows! Dim lighting. Nice scents. (I spray my room and bed with Febreze...calming!) Learn how to turn YOURSELF OFF (I know, I know...) and make it a rule that once you are in bed, no thoughts of what NEEDS to be done, or could be done, or what did not get done!

Happy s!

Sleep is completely overrated besides, you have all the time in the world to sleep when you die!
Try doing this, talk yourself into cleaning the house or doing some laundry, anything productive you will find your body goes into immediate shutdown, and sleep comes very easily

Sue, you are 100% correct ... especially at 5am....
What sucks is when the rest of the world thinks you need to be awake at 7:30am and calls you till you fall outta bed!!

LOL Bay! Heck...when Shell and Manda came to kidnap me for a hangover breakfast, they thought I was DEAD when I did not answer the door...the ONE time I sleep past 7! LMAO

Rhonda...if I get up and do housework or laundry...it WAKES ME UP FULLY! LOL But then again, I am the sort who starts such the second I roll outta bed. LOL For me...the TV does it. Or battery operated toys?! I swear I am a man, sometimes!
