With the new James Bond movie coming, I thought I would share some interesting Bond Trivia with you all.

There were 6 Official James Bonds and in order, they were Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. Technically, there were 7(the actor who played Inspector Closeau in the Pink Panther-what was his name??) starred in the original Casino Royale, which was a spy spoof movie.

Roger Moore, from my understanding, is the only truly ENGLISH actor to play Bond.

George Lazenby starred in only one Bond Film, (On Her Majesty's Secret Service). Interestingly enough, Timothy Dalton read for the role of James Bond in this film also, as a 22 year old actor. 20 years TO THE DAY from reading for this part, he was named the new James Bond in "Living Daylights".

Pierce Brosnan was fired from James Bond for bad-mouthing the franchise. Incidently, the highest selling and most successful movie franchise of all time. He found out he was fired after Daniel Craig came up to him at a meet n' greet function and asked him for advice on playing Bond. D'ohhhh!

Sean Connery did a re-make of Thunderball (which he originally starred in), called Never Say Never Again for a rival studio. Apparently there was a big dust-up over the franchise, lawsuits were filed etc, etc.

My all time favorite Bond was Sean Connery. The man may be 187, but he's still got IT. If I was a woman, I'd be chasing after him. My least favorite was Pierce Brosnan, mainly because he is an arrogant prick. The most under-rated was George Lazenby, I don't understand why he didn't make more Bond Films.

My favorite Bond Nemesis has to be the bad guy from Thunderball; second fav-the guy played by Robert Davi in License to kill. Fav henchman has to be the one and only Jaws(aka Richard Kiel); who happens to have a twin brother. Ouch, I'd hate to see his parents grocery bill growing up. Follow this up with the big blond mother (Gotz Otto)from Tomorrow never dies. Fav henchwoman, Grace Jones, handsdown. Close second, Barbara Carrera from Never Say Never Again. Favorite Bond Girl, Ursula Andress from Dr. No. (wayyyyy hotter than Halle Berry ) Least favorite - the chick from For your eyes only. Fav Bond song-Thunderball, Second Fav-View to a kill(by Duran Duran). Funny anecdote here..the lead guitarist for Duran Duran got drunk at a party and staggered over to the producer's of the Bond Films and made a wiseass comment about decent soundtracks for the next Bond Film. DD was prompty hired to do View to a Kill.

One of the Bond Girls in the film For your eyes only, was actually a MAN. (character Naomi-from that film). Jaws spoke only 4 words in the 2 films he did. ("Well, here's to Us") in Moonraker.

And my number one bit of Bond Trivia also happens to be the number one Movie Quote of All time; (Bond to Goldfinger) "Do you expect me to talk , Goldfinger? No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die!" Second favorite quote, (Big blond guy in Tomorrow never Dies-right before he got fragged by the blast of that nuke); "I owe you an un-pleasant death, Mr. Bond".

Hope you guys like this post. Does anyone have any Bond trivia they'd like to add? And no, I'm not a loser who lives in my parents basement...I work full time..just enjoy my movies

Ohhh, almost forgot..the coolest Bond car..has to be the 1964 Astin Martin from Thunderball(same car in the new Casino Royale). Second favorite car-the one from Goldeneye. Speaking of which, Tina Turner, who is now Un-Retiring and getting ready for a world tour, sang the theme song for Goldeneye. at the end of the song/video, it is her eye that blinks. Coolest Bond Movie intro, from the newest Bond film Casino Royale.

I don't have anything to add, but I do have a question to ask. Does anyone remember the name of the fragrance Bond wears? I think it's Cartier de something or another.

I dated a guy who wore the same fragrance and it was devine. I'd like to buy it for Christmas gifts this year.

Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli was the producer of all the James Bond films up through GoldenEye (he passed away in 1996). He is the man most responsible for turning the Ian Fleming novels into a movie franchise.

He was also the grandson of the Italian horticulturists who crossed the cauliflower with rabe to create a vegetable that bears the family name.

So, the same family that brought us broccoli brought us the Bond movies.

Had a nice trivia list and lost it...crap...start over...

Bond was a sub commander that got canned for fraternization with a female crew member.
Bonds' weapon, the Walther PPK, has its' front site filed down because he'd been shot once when it got stuck in the lining of his jacket.
Bond had married once...his wife was killed in a drive-by at the start of their honeymoon, by some vengeful opposition.
Q, (quartermaster) has come up with some neat gadgets...some of which have been copied for other shows. The garrot hidden inside a wristwatch was one of them, and made an appearance on CSI NY.
The "oo" designation allows Bond to kill anyone at any time, up to the royal family. He may have to explain why he did so...but his word is often used as proof. Six others had the same designation, but one turned traitor and a couple others got killed.

Miss Moneypenney played by Lois Maxwell appeared in 14 bond films totaling 2 hours of air time.

Maxwell was born Lois Hooker in Canada. She signed up to serve as a soldier in the Canadian army in WW2 and lied about her age (she was only 15) to get in. She served in the Army Entertainment Corp before being found out and was sent back home.

She wrote a money column for the Toronto Star starting back in the 1970s under the moniker of Miss Monepenny.

The Bond movie with George Lazenby was excellent.
Here's a cute story about Adam West, of Batman fame. Decades ago he was walking through an airport and a woman rushes up up him and tells him she had an erotic dream about him. Cooly, he asks "Was I any good?"
Gotta love that !!

Actually, David Niven played James Bond in CR. Peter Sellers (Clouseau) played a character name Evelyn Tremble who was a master baccarat player. Woody Allen played "Jimmy Bond", James Bond's nephew who couldn't even speak when in James Bond's presence. Jimmy accidentally swallows his own "atomic pill" and blows up the casino at the end of the movie.

As someone else mentioned, Barry Nelson played the first James Bond in a television production in the 1950's. Peter Lorre played the villian Le Chiffre.

IMO Sean Connery was THE best Bond -- best looking, funniest, sexiest. Daniel Craig is SO not a good Bond, IMO.

The best Bond film IMHO was On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I wish George Lazenby had reprised the role in other films; I wonder why he didn't. I think Diana Rigg did justice as James' wife; too bad they wrote her out so quickly; it would have made for some interesting films (as evidenced by other husband and wife teams in other shows).

Today's Bond films are not as good as the earlier ones; too much reliance on special effects and computer generation; thereby creating improbable and impossible situations that take away from the film as one sees it as being unrealistic, as opposed to farfetched, but neat.
