Guys , What are your thoughts on women with Harleys. I've come across several profiles lately with women sporting there Harleys. I'm not a rider. Has anyone else developed a relationship with a woman that rides and you don't? It seems riders have their own circle of friends and non-riders don't fit in.

Since I have my own, it is nice as well to have the woman you enjoy, riding with you one way or another!!!

I enjoy women that own their own and like to ride, just as long as they meet all my other requirements, and one is that they can not be larger then I am, and the other will be if they have significantly more tattoos.......

OT.........If a woman owns a Harley, there is no need to ever have to explain why we ride.........

Just my opinion........

I think any women who rides is cool. Even better on a sport bike instead of a boat anchor.

i'd prefer not to get attached to a woman so cavalier about physical risks. riding is a huge one that is the easiest thing in the world to avoid. i want the best possible odds that she'll be spending the night in our bed, not a hospital's.

Most women I have seen driving the harley as opposed of being the eye candy behind the seat, are chubby, or are heavier than I find interesting. Give me instead a girl that prefers a bike, yeap, not the one with the engine, the one you pedal. Those are the real tough chics. They tend to be slimmer, meaner, with great looking buts.

I have a GF on the west coast who drives a Harley and she is drop dead gorgeous! Always has been. Centrefold body and face to match.

I bet'ya she keeps her figure not on the harley, but in the gym.

I think it would be one more thing that we'd have in common. And it doesn't have to be a Harley! Any bike is fine. It's all good.

But then that's only one thing in common.

Well i don't have a Harley, but i used to and if you look at my pics you will see that i'm not fat and butch! Another friend of mine rides one and she is a very feminine and very capable woman. In fact if you met her you would never guess she was even a bike rider (if you go by stereotypes).

As for us having our own circle of friends, i think everybody does don't they? Would you not go out with a dancer because most of her friends were dancers or a cyclist because most of her friends were athletes?

My partner is NOT a bike rider. Thank goodness it didn't stop him from contacting me on this site 2 years ago!! Every now and again he gets on the back of my bike and comes for a ride. Just like every now and again i'll do something that he's really interested in but i'm not..... Quite simple really.....

Not into it; I think the womens movement is about being like men; they want to be as hard and wild and guys are. Not into it.

I think people should be who they want to be; I accept who they are, I am just not attracted to it and wouldnt' date anyone that was into it. Not my thing. Everyone is different and to each their own.

I intensely dislike Harley motorcycles. They're loud, obnoxious, and their owners tend to be overaged fat guys who have nothing better to do with their lives than draw attention to themselves and cause noise pollution.

I usually pass a profile up if the woman indicates one of her interests is Harleys, although sometimes I make exceptions.

Does it really matter what a woman uses as transportation, if we have a similar hobby/interest in common all the better. I think I have only met one woman that doesn’t like to ride (my mother, for obvious reasons), whether it be on her own bike or the back of mine. Is it dangerous? But so is walking out of the house in the morning and getting in a car. I tend to not live my life wrapped around what could cause my demise. If it’s your time to go, is there anything you could really do to prevent it?

Some interesting posts... Although I think allot of people here don’t understand why people own/ride motorcycles (regardless if it is a Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki, etc). Chances are if you have never learned to ride or have never ridden a bike you would never understand. Have you ever seen a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrist’s office? Chances are you never will!

As for Harleys being too loud, I think one thing you need to keep in mind is that sometimes that’s all a bike has to let you know it is there! Drivers on the road are not looking for bikes they are looking for other cars. I have lost count of how many times I have almost been run off the road because another motorist did not see me. But after installing louder pipes on my bike, that problem went away.

As for Mr. Canoga77 and others prejudice on what type of people ride Harleys or other motorcycles... Take a trip to Daytona bike week or Sturgis, and chances are you will meet doctors, lawyers, celebrities, fat people, skinny people, black, white, etc. Not just "over aged fat guys"... Perhaps take a ride on one of thousands of poker runs all over the world that raise MILLIONS of dollars for charity! You also may run into the Patriot Guard Riders that shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors at funerals of fallen Soldiers.

Have a nice day :)

Bluez, you would pass up a profile that had motorcycles as an interest? Then I assume you would pass it up if she had ANY interests that didn't match yours? How limiting....

Count me among those who have motorcycles as my interest, but no way should anyone take that to mean that a guy I get in a relationship needs to have one. All of my interests listed, are merely things I have done at one time or another and different times in my life. I list them all, so as to not isolate anyone who may have an interest in ANY of these things.
I don't own a bike, but wish I did. When I lived in CA, I rarely saw a woman with her own in PA, I see them all the time! If I had one, I could join in more with the Friends of the Forgotten and Warriors Watch groups that I belong to.

As for women with bikes being out of shape.....nah! I see many women here in PA who have their own bikes and are in great shape....even well into their fifties. There is no correlation between bike owners and shape...two totally different issues.

Harley's are cruisers, the station wagon or Cadillac of bikes, kinda sucks the hotness out for me. Sport Bikes are like Vettes or Vipers I like that picture better.

I don't know if it would matter to me one way or another.

Actually, scratch that - I'm not personally into motorcycles at all - aside from some of the engine details in terms of power, where the ideal RPM range is, etc.

I personally prefer to be encased in at least a ton and a half of steel when moving at any serious speed, so I don't know if I'd be comfortable riding (driver or passenger) a motorcycle.

That said, it's probably interesting to me if a woman rides a Harley simply because I don't - it's something new to me, different than what I'm used to, etc.

I can't speak for other people's experiences, by the way, but, while there ARE some idiots out there on motorcycles (I swear I've seen a few ride by on a crowded expressway whose riding behavior I could only classify as completely suicidal), it also seems that some car/van/truck drivers think it's funny to mess with motorcycle riders, including straddling lanes when a biker tries to pass them.

A few friends of mine got into it in the late 90s to early 2000s, and had experienced that sort of thing a few times, where a vehicle would literally try to shove them out of their lane.

Since I had a 1972 Olds 98 then, I told them that if they paid for gas, I'd ride "escort" for them . . . simply lay on the horn and approach with that 5000 lb steel monster if they decided to get funny around the bikers!
(ok, it's a nice fantasy, we never did that, but they seriously considered taking me up on that offer!)

I guess that means bikers are braver than I am, or perhaps have more faith in the drivers who share the road with them than I do.

Myself I have a maxi scooter and ride it for the gas saving qualities it has and for the fun aspect. Recently I travelled to Calgary Alberta from Victoria BC and I got 75 miles per gallon or 120 kms per 4 litres. It cost me $40 to do the trip in gas one way then the return journey was $34.
I have had an accident on my first scooter but recovered and purchased a second one and am coming up on my 2 yr anniversary of having /riding my maxi scooter.
If a guy has a problem with my profile saying that I ride, pass me on by. I don't need another "Mother" saying please don't go out and play today dear. I am an adult I like adult pleasures and riding my scoot is one of them. Get used to it.

Chill out there. Yes i can see over my gut. In fact I rode Triumphs for years. Didn't want a Harley because everyone else had one. And if you know anything about bikes you'd know Triumphs were the original "bad boy" bike, I no longer ride though. Was just stating I wouldn't date a woman that rides and I don't becasue I wouldn't fit in with her circle of friends. Sorry this thread went in all kinds of directions

As for morons with cell phones... I totally agree with you there... and they're just as annoying to me whether I'm driving or Cycling.

Hey! Don't mess with cyclist.

No wait. You are the cyclist. Hehehe.

I keep my cell in a platic bag.

Bottom line is that when dating you don't have to have the exact same interests - if you don't ride bikes and don't want to then that's your thing. Just do your own thing when she's doing hers. *shrug*

Everyone went a tad of course of the OP but after reading zekestone's posts I'm totally amazed he isn't an avid rider. I've owned metrics & HD's, it's generally what I've noticed about bikers over the 3 decades I've been riding.

I have a great idea.

Either ride '****' or get a bike. LOL

Seriously, if you are not interested in bikes and bikers - you shouldn't feel like you have to.

I think that you are making more out of this than you should.

I think people attatch a stigma to 'bikes' and people that ride them.

Think of us as being 'green' - my bike gets about 45mpg.

Regarding horses and their owners... I know for a fact to own a horse, you can't be poor. Owning a horse isn't cheap. So at least that part of the stereotype is true as well...

well there are some misconceptions here ..I have six horses and it cost me next to nothing to keep them ..but this thread is about harleys... my wife can ride anything with wheels or hair ...she has her own bike which is a honda .. she likes it better than a harley because of her short legs and the vlx is so close to the ground ..but there aint nothing wrong with a Harley ......and a woman rider ..thats just hot

What I find ridiculous with many motorcycle people are people who ride without helmets in states that don't have helmet laws. People who would risk having scrambled brains or death just to look cool (s0 they think) in my opinion is plain stupid. In most places, when in a car, it's law that you must wear a seat belt, children must be properly strapped in child seats, some states ban the use of cell phones by drivers, but a lot of bike riders fight for the right to not put on a helmet because it infringes on their rights-the right to be a Dennis Hopper wannabee in Easy Rider.

Getting back to topic, would you date a biker who refuses to use a helmet and would you accept a ride on a Harley without a helmet?

At 70 plus a helmet is not going to do much if you got to lay it down.

What about at 10,20, or 30 miles per hour? I guess you're more obsessed with looking macho rather than trying to protect your noggin. Afterall, that's what Harley's are all about-for guys, it's an extension of their penis, just like the big-ass pickup trucks. What do you think of the soldiers who are overseas fighting a war? Do you think they are big baby sissy's because part of their uniform is wearing a helmet? Should they have the right to go helmet-less while being shot at?

I'd avoid them. If she needs a vibrator with an 1100 cc gasoline engine, I probably won't satisfy her with my original factory installed equipment, even though it works flawlessly.

^^^ a strong point. when i was looking at profiles and saw that a woman rode, i'd click to the next. riding is not a good risk, and i'd hate to get the phone call that the love of my life got smeared across three lanes by some lane-changer with a vision problem.
