Animals are better judge of character than most humans. Cats and Dogs can smell a rat when they see one.

If you dont like cats, don't date women who have them. Then it won't matter to you. Animals are a dealbreaker in dating situations...date women who also don't like cats and you should be fine. The same goes for dog lovers and non-dog people.

That was easy.

Next question?

I like cats, but there are limits. That's why I always perform a cat scan on potential dates. If there are fewer than 3 revealed, that's a catalyst to meet them. If 3 or more, I become catatonic.

^^^ Or you're headed for a catastrophe

I myself subscribe to the old theory that if you have more than 3 of anything (cats or dogs) you've officially stepped off the edge.

Then call me the crazy cat lady!! I have 2 who I love. Yes when I'm gone they are on the fridge, cabinets, all over I bet.

But the animals outside of feeding them and scooping the litter box, practically take care of themselves! No "training" required. As kittens, just show them where you put the litter box. I clean it, yes I have a big gel deodorizer on the litter box.

I have a scented oil night light in my bathroom. What our sht don't stink?

Dogs are great security, but also require as much care as having a child around. Doggy daycare costs as much as child day care. Dogs have to be housebroke although there is doggy litter, and other things in case of accidents. Mine is crate trained. She is always out of the crate, but I take her out every 2 hours.

I like cats, but I am way more of a dog lover. Besides, I can't even have cats as pets, because I'm allergic to them. Very bad for my asthma, and allergies.

Guys who are cat lovers just won't do it for me.

I work for a pet food company and deal with many people that consider themselves pet people. I'd say a big majority of them are complete nut jobs.

Not all of them, but it seems the ones that have lots of cats at treat them like little people have some serious mental issues and I personally don't want to ever get involved with people like that emotionally.

Don't listen to anything anyone else says in this thread, because they're wrong, and I'm right:

- A woman with a cat should raise alarm bells.
- A woman with multiple cats... just run.
- A cat lady? Duh. You know what to do.

Women with dogs are almost universally far more likely to be sane than women with cats. I bet this post will cause a bunch of indignant replies from women who own cats, but disregard those as they're all nutcases.

Dog people are reliable. Cat people are neurotic. Nothing more need be said.

How about women with more than three children, or cars, or jobs...flat screen TVs? Or is this craziness theory just about pets? Just curious.

What about women/people who happen to love them and/or rescue them?

I love animals, but I will not have more than I can love/care for. Unfortunately, cats I'm deathly allergic to...........

There's always the crazy cat lady. So make sure you aren't falling for that chick. Although they are usually old hermit types and not internet dating. Cats are cool as long as the person keeps after them.

I like dogs better than cats. I think that a lot of people get cats to help with mental problems. And it does help cause having an animal around keeps some people sane lol

I have 2 cats, and probably would have one cat if Bella the calico had not gone on an extended vacation for 3 months and then returned home. While she was at the beach or on some European junket (of course she will never tell about her adventures), Simon the tuxedo wearing young man decided to grace me with his presence. They now keep me on my toes with their love/hate relationship antics. Miss Trixie one of our neighborhood strays gave birth to 5 kittens a few weeks ago, and strange how 2 are wearing tuxedos and have faces that are oddly similar to Simon's. However, DNA testing has not been done at this point, and Simon and Miss Trixie both will go under the knife in a few weeks to take care of business. Anyone want a kitten?

I have 4 cats and 1 dog. All of my animals were strays or rescues, are fixed, and stay inside. When I can afford it and have the room, I take in strays and rescues (both dogs and cats), get them neutered and shots and then re-home them. I assist Sterile Feral with trapping, neutering, and releasing the wild cats to help cut down on the stray cat population.

Am I crazy? Maybe. I consider this to be my way to contribute to making the world a better place, both for the animals dumped because they were no longer cute cuddly babies, and for the pet owners who don't know the benefits of neutering their pets.

eschec mat, your bf sounds like a cool guy. Naming the cats Piper and Laurie shows wit and uniqueness, and I find it interesting, as my first name is Laurie. Now I know of a cat that shares a name with me.

My former nickname is Julie Twelve Cats. It happens to soft touches. Your neighbors discover that a good story about why *they* can't keep this kitten that they found. . . . I finally, at 12, just told them they could leave it, but on my son's next trip, he'd be taking it back to the shelters in DC. They stopped. I eventually found homes for all but the one who lives with me now.
