How old is this girl? Geez.

I would be calling my best friend ASAP and asking WTF they were thinking setting me up with a slutty alcoholic. Heh.

I would have possibly, maybe attributed it to nervousness until she called you a lightweight. Obviously she thinks drinking in moderation is something to be scoffed at.

I mean, if you wanna nail her then sure.. give her a call. Why else would you call her? Nothing you described was appealing in terms of connecting with another person and potentially starting a friendship.

Meh...she was slow. I had a date that pounded back 6 scotches in an hour. Definitely a turn off and there was no second date.
I can understand being nervous, and having a drink to relax but why drink until you're sick?

If you were attracted to her and felt there was some chemistry, give her a second chance..good luck!

Look at it this way: if this is how she makes a 1st impression, what happens when she starts to feel comfortable with you?

Seriously, the woman seems to have some issues that need to be dealt with, and any way you can reinforce that message -- do!

Well, I've been nervous before, but didn't drink myself into a puke! But if you think she was nice, you should try again--to much drinking the second time, fageddaboudit. It can be a cute story you tell your grandkids, "Did I ever tell you about how grandma puked on me on our first date?"

Ohhh dude I don't know.... I would think by the age of 30 plus she would be past the stage of getting so nervous because the guys so hot, and and yeah...

Unless you walk on water, you are human, hotter version than some of your competition, still human...

I guess it seems extremely sad that she'd smack 7 beers back, climb on you like you were a lap pole, then yak in the parking lot... That would have been a nightmare date to me no matter how cute, and no calls back, just a text saying "thanks for the interesting time."

May sound harsh, but dang by the 30's it would seem she had this dating thing just a little more figured out... Was she married for like that last 15 or 20 yrs??? I could see that causing brain damage dating habits...

If you are up to things, and want to see her hurl the other half of her liver up, go for it. Perhaps she isn't a raging drunk....

Turk182!
So your the other person that saw that movie!

1st date I might just write it off to nervousness. If she seemed nice before the booze, i might give her a second date. if that went the same way then I'ld probably back off.

~OP~ Why are you asking a bunch of strangers? You already said (in less than a page of posts) that she's "thick" (not a bad thing if that's what your into, but you clearly weren't thrilled) and then you tell all of us what she texts you? Text her back, tell here you can't afford her bar tab and move on. I can probably do shots from noon til 6 and still not feel the least bit guilty about it and nor would I almost fall off my barstool, unless that man next to me is worth falling on. Some days I do that (not fall, just have Crown early in the day.) The men who have been in my life "get it" and realize it's not an everyday thing, and if it was? They are perfectly within their own right to never call me again. I'm a big girl, if I can drink Crown all day on a Sunday and be OK with it, it's none of their business (in my opinion, but I do pay at least my 1/2, most often their's, too. Don't like to drink alone sort of thing....tee hee.) Do I do that with all my dates??? Of course not. Just the one's who don't call me "thick" and can keep up. But that's just me. Good luck to ya.

That's a good idea. I know she likes the MET and I know a nice cafe in the Village, so maybe a trip into the city is in order. (Plus I personally want to check out The Art of the Samurai they're displaying now.)

dude, you can't seriously be thinking about pursuing something with this woman other than a one-nighter. she fumbled on the goal line in the waning seconds - she showed you some really poor judgment the very first time out. so bad you had to rescue her from herself.

and really, the tone of your posts implies you didn't feel a whole lot of respect for her because of her drunken antics. lack of respect seems like pretty poor footing to try to start something with any potential.

I think you played it really smart. With today's litigious and big brotherish society, one has to be careful about being accused of date rape. I'm not sure but I think some states have laws that would make sex under those conditions some form of rape.

Besides, perfume is a turn on, the natural scent of a woman is, in most cases a turn on. HOWEVER, the scent of puke is one of the few things that would turn me off like a light switch.

Ok, why is Turk getting hammered about the "thick" comment.

Look, some people like a certain build, some people like a certain height, some people like a certain color of hair....

And some of us, shocker of shockers, like someone whom we find attractive with whatever combination of attributes that appeals to us. Meaning, yes, we've found some slim women attractive, some average-built women attractive, and some "thick" women attractive. So sue us.

The impression I got is that Turk mentioned that because "thick" seems to have at least a slightly negative connotation to most people, honeyangel being the first example, and he said "but not bad" meaning that he found her attractive so don't take "thick" as a criticism.

He's trying to make up for the rest of society's prejudices by clarifying.

That said, Turk, you handled it well.

I at first would've said that the 7 drinks in and of itself isn't scary - different people have different tolerances... I am nearly terrifying in how much of a lightweight I am when it comes to alcohol, and am hypersensitive to the "burning" feel of even a mild drink.

Yet, one woman I'd met could drink one scotch after another with almost no ill effects. She also was highly resistant to medication (both prescription and OTC), an attribute which she shared with another female relative (an aunt of hers? Her grandmother? I can't remember).

But the getting drunk and yakking? Yikes! That would've been 10 times worse for me because I'm EXTREMELY squeamish around puke.

Eh, most of this is actually just ranting, and some directed at others... Turk, you were more than gracious on this, and it's cool that you're trusting your friends' judgment and giving her another shot at this. Good luck!

Op: If me...not a chance!

Reminds me of a date many moons ago...

One evening out nothing too fancy "Salty's" we meet for a drink...
Up front offering to pay half...his responce sure.
He starts with a beer I have a tea.
We order a couple of appies and share.
Within an hour he downs 5 beers and a shooter.
I live local and him 45min drive down the highway.
Upon leaving he reminds me, of my paying half.
Like WTF...I will pay for my own, thanks.

I was thinking if the tables had been turned and the guy was the one wolfing down beer after beer and telling the woman she was a light weight as she sat quietly, calmly sipping on the same cosmo all night. Comes back from draining the lizzard then plops on her lap and starts making out with her.

That just wouldn't fly.

I have to praise you for being a gentleman. A lot of guys would have either tried to take advantage of her, or blown her off right away as a waste case. I think that shows great character on your part. Maybe she was just nervous and got carried away. Good luck.

First date jitters and nerves, sure its understandable that someone might get a little nervous (I don't, but I often feel like I've been on more blind dates than Ray Charles!) and drink too much without realizing. Factor in that was a great Giants game (I'm an Eagles fan, so last week I was rooting for them; this week, not so much...lol) and the excitement was probably running high in the joint. Also, consider that maybe she really doesn't normally drink that much, as a person with a regular drinking problem would probably be able to handle 7 beers during the course of a football game pretty easily.

I agree with those that said give it another try with her and go do something this time, if you liked her and enjoyed her company before she got lit. Although I wouldn't necessarily avoid any place with alcohol; I'd want to see if she exercised better judgment this time, and if not you have your answer regarding her. Once is an accident, twice is a pattern. Good luck!

Jeesh, for crying out loud, the reason why I put thick is because I LIKE THICK!!!!!!

That's what I figured, but a bunch of people used that as an excuse to be offended, it seems!

If she is an alcoholic, then why would she puke? She should have a high tolerance. Sounds like this girl is a mess.

It's cool that you gave her a second chance. Too bad she blew it.

I'm curious, if you are in this situation again where you meet a woman and she starts slamming them back - will you again graciously give them a second chance?

Kudos to you Turk! You gave her another chance, she proved herself to have a serious problem (who has 2 martinis before lunch on Sat!?) and then you went on your way. But at least you tried, and that is half the battle. Keep trying and I'm sure you'll find someone more worthy!

If you liked her other than her getting drunk then i would give her another chance, it's not a big deal and it happens to the best of us at times, when we are nervous, dont realize how many drinks we have had or that it hits us faster than we thought.

If on another date it happens again then you can assume that it will happen a lot, take a chance and see how it goes, you have nothing to lose. Give the girl a break she just drank too much and in my opinion she was not "slutty" as one poster put as there was no sex involved.

Lol what a piece of work. There would be no second date.

Sorry, but you can't claim culture after putting on this thread that you commented on a woman's body parts.

Who says the OP can't do that? Have you ever seen a Reubens painting?? Now he was obviously a man who liked big butts and boobs!

A little culture on a date is always a good thing, especially as an alternative to the same old, same old. Not that long ago I took a date to the Franklin Institute here in Philadelphia, specifically to see the Galileo exhibit, which included 1 of only 2 surviving telescopes actually used by Galileo, and the only time it had ever been out of Italy. It was pretty amazing, and very cool if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Talk to her...let her know you had a good time but that you were concerned that she had too many drinks. If you decide to see her again, suggest doing something without drinking. I believe everyone deserves a second chance.

If i still lived in NJ i would have gone with you to the met and i would have even been sober, just for you, lol ok well maybe just a few beers after, but im not a puker
