Do you believe in Twin Telepathy?Page 1 of 1
One of the magical mysteries associated with multiples is that they share a special connection beyond that of ordinary siblings or so it is said...i have cousins who are twins, however they are fraternal twins...one was born with a heart defect and has had numerous surgeries over the years. The twin who has a heart defect chose to start a family against all warnings from her specialist saying it would cause undue stress on her heart plus could be potentially dangerous for the child. Anyways she had the baby and it was delivered early but is in great health, two months later my cousin felt some chest pains and knew they were not normal pains. She went to call the ambulance and her cell phone rang it was her other twin calling in a panic asking if she was allright? the other twin had felt chest pains and knew something was wrong with her sister.... My cousin ended up going to the hospital and had a full blown heart attack on the way there. She was only 30. I'm curious to know if anyone has experienced something like that (if they are a twin) or if they know of twins who have experienced something like this example?

OP
Sorry to hear of your cousin's heart attack. Did she survive? Wishing her well!

I know a family that had seven girls, three sets of fraternal twins. I don't remember hearing they had any of this type of telepathy.

Last year I watched a great documentary on PBS, think it was part of the NOVA series, about twins. They featured some twins with amazing connections.

Being a Canucks fan I've watched their televised games and thus watched the Sedin brothers, Henrik and Daniel. They are identical twins and they have a special knack of feeding the puck to one another, knowing where the other one will be, and shooting the puck there so it gets there just in time.

As an identical twin myself, I'm a doubter. We do share some sort of a connection. For example, my twin actually told me I was pregnant with my daughter before I even suspected. But no, we do not "feel each other's pain".

Yes thankfully she survived, having chosen to start a family, the pregnancy and birth of her child just caused too much stress on her heart...however they are all well. Strange that they are fraternal twins however it is not the first time that something like that has happened where one of them has this feeling about the other?

I'm an identical twin, first born. My twin brother and I are complete opposites in every way otherwise. Twin telepathy? Maybe for others, not in our case.

Josef Mengele experimented on ~3000 twins and never discovered any connections like that.
I hear these kind of stories all the time, usually from non-twins - its coincidence, nothing more.

I'm glad she lived through her heart attack!

Hey, neat topic! This is all speculation, and I hope it's alright to reply to your thread.

In answer to your question I believe in telepathy as an inborn human trait.

I'm about to meet my sibling's twins for the first time. They'll be too young to verbalize any such co-awareness, though I've been curious about what kind of connections they may share.

A Physics experiment involving two people where Amy is shown random light flashes while Amos is sitting in another room focusing his intention to experience the same light flashes as Amy in his minds eye. With equipment measuring real time phenomena within Amy's brain they'll also measure Amos's brain and find the same neuron activity. That is to say they may measure the fact that Amos's brain is reacting to the light pulses that Amy is seeing at the same intervals without actually seeing them himself.

Though unable to directly explain how or why as of yet, science is able to give us glimpses that some things thought to be unseen actually exist in some measurable phenomena.

The rest is up to our beliefs, so what do you believe?

The brain is like a biological lump of radio that receives, processes, generates and transmits data all of the time some of which, I believe, has yet to appear on any man made scope.

Whether we're consciously aware of it I believe that we are all naturally telepathic and support the possibility that twins may likely have stronger co-emotional awareness.

Thanks for asking!

Actually, I think feeling another's feelings, or being aware of what another is feeling, is empathy, rather than telepathy. I think telepathy is awareness of what or how they're thinking.

I've heard of it happeneing with twins and non twins. I think everybody has someone they connect with like that- doesn't have to be a twin.
As for the nazi experiments- those people(many of them kids) were so terrified, I can't imagine any of it would be accurate anyway.

I know this post started a while ago, but had to answer. I completely believe in twin telepathy. I have twin sons. Since they were little they were able to communicate in their own little language, and now even though they will deny it, they are still very connected. From buying the exact same item, how they dress (even when they try to be different), musical tastes, how they write (spelling, both left handed), its all the same. Even sleeping, its pretty cute, but I dont tell them that...lol They can barely say a word to each other and know whats going on. Drives me nuts, though after this many years, Ive picked up some of it..lol

Both of my kids have some medical problems, nothing as severe; asthma allergies that sort of thing. One ended up in hospital when they were little. I travelled back and forth between hospital with one and home with the other. I started to notice the one at home would act the same as the one in hospital. (minus the breathing tubes), he would hold his chest. I even took him in to get checked. We had a great pediatrician and he even noticed the way they were reacting. (we still see the doc in town, its awesome because he can tell my kids apart, most family cant..lol)

Telepathy maybe not but there is a definite connection. It is quite common among twins but not all twins.

My brother and I were able to know when the other was not right ....

For example ...

My brother nearly fell off a cliff and I was uneasy and sweated during the time he nearly fell. Another time I dreamed of my brother dieing in a work related accident. I warned my brother who admitted taking short cuts at work. Other times we'd get sick at the same time and even feel each others pain. We could even finish each others sentences.. we did that a lot when we were growing up. It's not telepathy but really just getting to know the other and any sibling can become this connected with the other regardless if you're a twin or not. It's just that there is this greater connection because we share the space space in our mother's womb, we develop together, we're in a safe environment together... the only thing we know for the first 9 months is basically each other and the sound of our mothers voice while everything else is distant and muffled and then usually twins play together and develop together after we are born. We become sensitive to the other because we're usually around each other on average more then any other kind of siblings. A lot of time you might share the same interests as did my twin brother and I. Even if you are opposite in many ways. My older sisters are twins, completely opposite, and were probably less connected to each other then me and my twin brother but when I'd watch them together they would just like me and my brother do and say the exact same thing in the exact same way at the exact same time. It's a twin phenomena but I believe it is really due to the first 9 months of our developing and time spent in such a closed in space like our mother's womb.

There may be no hard evidence of this but it is nonetheless a twin phenomena :)

And ya, since my brother and I could finish each others sentences even to this day we just look at each other and to the observer it may look like there was some kind of telepathy going on but we have grown to know each other so well that we could just look at each other and know sorta what the other is thinking, or one of us will say something in response to the other and the observer wouldn't have a clue what's going on or what the context is because they hear and observe half the conversation meanwhile ... me and my brother are fully communicating...

I also remember when my brother's son was born.

When I got to the hospital things didn't seem right. I was visiting but found out that my nephew was born with complications ... long story short is my brothers son was sent to Childrens Hospital. Just before the mother of my brother's wife came in with their oldest son my brother and his wife were told their son was being rushed to Children's to receive special care at the NICU. Just as my brother's mother-in-law came walking through the door, without thinking both me and my brother jumped up and literally ran to the door and just stood there in front. I guess me and my brother both thought that it wasn't good for their oldest son to see his mother emotionally distraught. We just stood there at the door I guess with the exact same look on our faces. The mother-in-law didn't need for us to say anything, she knew something wasn't right. And so my brother and I took his oldest son for a walk to leave my brother's wife alone with her mother and to shelter their oldest son from potential trauma. Good news, their son got better but it was touch and go for the first few weeks... but besides that point... I didn't need for my brother to tell me verbally what was going on in his brain and I didn't need for my brother to tell me verbally to take his son for a walk we just did that naturally... like we communicated with each other without communicating ... my brother and I had a similar sweater ... and yes there was at least one time we both decided to wear that sweater without knowing the other had planned to. And yes I felt his physical pain and he felt my physical pain and we were also sensitive to emotional pain as well... again twin phenomena :)

No, maybe this so called telepathy is because in utero the twins we're infected by the same virus and that virus has it's own agenda for it's hosts?

I know being a twin..my mom always used to say there was a reason we are twins.
I feel when you are close to someone you can sense their pain, know if they are in eminent danger..some ppl believe we have angels ..some ppl believe it is coincidence, whatever it is, some ppl experience a type of internal calling, when ppl pass on or are in trouble, this I think, happens as a kind of physic ability..not reduced to a view..
The way animals know when ppl are going to have strokes or seizures, when storms are coming, this kind of hidden radar..that intuition that often fails us, because in hindsight we saw it foreshadow, but it sounded impossible.
Very interesting.
It happens way past twin language, with the element of the human spirit.. we can be connected somehow..
Believe it or not ;))
